Enemy village notes in clan war

In a similar way as players can leave troop request note on their own CW village players could add notes to enemy villages. People seem to "reserve" enemies for their war attacks but these reservations are done outside the game.
If instead there could be, say, 200 characters long free text field for each enemy during the war.

Potential issue might be clan members changing the note in "unstable" clans. Maybe only elders and above could change notes?

I don't think that is needed except in clans that struggle to communicate and organized. That these are usually the unstable ones too I think the changing would be commonplace. Also, SC is looking at adding a facility for specifically for calling bases

If we go away from calling bases it would be good for putting in scouting notes to help each other. I do see it useful for that purpose.

I think a "dibs" style base calling system would be more effective than this. My more grand vision of a war strategy UI (link in my sig) would be sweet but most of it could be handled with a simple dibs system. Once a base is called/assigned players would be able to actively discuss strategies without the risk of somebody else attacking it.

On the other hand, half of my clan lives on another continent. It could be useful to leave notes on villages that they could reference for strategy ideas while one or the other are asleep.

Calling system would pretty much cover most useful part of notes, agreed.

I disagree. A calling system should be a distinct and separate thing. I also have reason to think that we will in due time be getting a calling system (see this thread for where I speak to why)

The real value here would be scouting notes. We have some guys in our clan that are really good at base analysis. They are constantly putting stuff in the feed to help/teach others and oft times have to repeat themselves as stuff scrolls off. Also its tough to scroll up and down the feed to find all comments regarding the base you happen to be studying at the moment. If those guys could post notes next to the bases on the war map (could be a little icon that is clicked to pop up the window) that would be really helpful.

I think this is a solid idea........It would make it easier to communicate although I'm not 100% sure that it is needed.

I think a non-locking 'calling dibs', with notes, would be good. Locking the base from attack because someone claimed it first only rewards people that are on obsessively (... :saywhat: what! Don't look at me like that! Ok, ok... so I'm on it a lot :rolleyes:). I pretty much want it where someone calls dibs, and there is time for people to contest it, and figure out who would be best to attack. Plus, stacked 'dibs' would be doable as well, since sometimes the first attack may not go well. This can be done simply via notes, since 'dibs' wouldn't be doing anything game mechanics wise, besides leave a note.

For war plans, preset notes/dibs would be great! That way I can assign people thier same base # to them, and then they can swap with others if need be, if others find each other's bases easier to attack. Could make it expire or something after a condition, so that after a person's first attack, the 'dib' is removed. That means if they failed, the base is free, and if they attack a different base for thier first attack, it is also free (my orders are to attack same # with first attack. if they fail that, base is free).

Granted, if people only looked, and read the mail, and read the channel, they'd know that a base is free if the assigned person's first attack is used, which isn't hard to do at all, but does seem to take a bit of thinking for people to realize that. :(

Communications is so hard sometimes, it is just frustrating.
