New Clan Level is Unfair to Old Clans

We have been playing for 8 months and we won 68 of 75 wars so far. Wars is not easy to win anymore like before.

First i heard about new clan level system i thought supercell give us start level cause of wars we did before. But supercell didn't. now new clans which fight twice a week or always get levels more then us but we deserved higher clan level than most of them. This is so unfair. We should reach level 10 so far.

Please give us clan exp at least win bonus (+50xp) according to wars we did or wars we won.

Giving experience based on the war wins would much more unfair than the current situation you think you are in. Why would it be more unfair? Well, believe it or not, there are clans which are losing constantly but keep trying, what would happen to those? They fought a lot of wars but nothing is shown by the wars won number.
The system is pretty good as it is.

How can you think more unfair? when we were new to clash and clan wars we try our best, we dont accept users which can catch up in wars, lower or higher level than our average level. sometimes we all leave clan temporarily to confuse enemy that way more powerful then us and won impossible wars, we wrote rules, create websites to contact each other, we took serious wars and won.

don't tell me about losers. if you lose that you could won then it means you didn't try your best.
clans like ours deserves extra level not losers.

In that case, clans which have won more than 100 wars, if they gain 50 XP, they will be leveled up within seconds. Its a new update, now get over it bro.

You worked hard to get where you are based on the system before the update....the system has changed, therefore your current status is based on your current outcomes like everyone else. This is completely fair because we all were given the system change at the same time.

Think about it like this, a clan that wins 24 wars in 6 months and one that wins 24 in 2 months...which worked harder? How is it fair to allow the 6 month clan, who only had 1 war a week, to jump in front of everyone else who may have been warring 3 times a week? Not to mention that I've noticed a complete change in the way wars happen ever since the update....people are actually attacking. It used to be that you would be in a war and win because the other team bailed, so your 70+ wins is insignificant to the style of play we are currently faced with. You and everyone else are on the same playing field, so clash more, get more.

it's not unfair, we are all in the same boat, get over it, people actually try in wars now do they? thats so annoying, nobody cares tho

I must admit I do not like the concept of clan perks. But like so many other changes in CoC, it appears it is difficult to fix something without breaking something else. What was the original problem all along? Help players find good clans. The number of trophies which is currently used to rank clans is not evidence of a good clan, nor is the clan level; it will be eventually (in a couple of years), but it is not yet. I only want to know two numbers: how many wars has a clan fought, and how many has it won? Right now the first is not available, while the second is not searchable.

We have more wins than you. But instead of being mad what we did not get in the past we are instead grateful for what we are getting now. Try looking at it that way.

Wow lanesteele240 really doesn't know how they sound to others. If you can't see the point rwelshjr is making then I'd have little to no luck getting it through to you. Gah, back to OP's topic...
This was talked about before, and basicly no one will be totaly happy, and any retroactive XP will make even more people cry out from unfair treatment, and wanting XP for other things that there is either no record of to allow for retroactive XP for, or is too labor intensive to hunt down and varify.

Many updates are just added in later with no retroactive compensation, and could be veiwed as unfair, but that's something that should be expected from a game that constantly updates and tries to improve itself for us (and yes, in turn Supercell's bank account)

Your tone is bad, to put it very lightly. You don't just say "cry cry cry" or "You reek of the stench of" in a level headed conversation. There are much better ways of putting it without provoking the ire of the other person.

As for what is 'fair', it is all based on assumption and common cultural experience. Technically, life is totaly fair. It will not break the laws of physics or chemistry just to kill you. Living things have no rights granted by the world it lives in to stay alive. There is no universal law saying there is a X amount of time for each living thing before the world can kill it, or any given right to have X amount of material goods.

We should feel lucky and blessed that we have what we have, and have such an easy life as humans to even collectively put such much time and effort into remotely have a game as technologically advanced as Clash of Clans, among many many other things.

To use another anecdote (or several as I continue to write) - suppose supercell finally decide to release the update where heroes in clan wars can be used whilst upgrading - would we all now jump on the retropsective band wagon and say I could have won x amount of wars previously if I had my king and/or queen ("I deserve compensation" culture - well to be a little snide "call injury lawyers or something then") or would we be just thankful of the improved update. The point is the game changes for the better everybody starts in the same way (again) and the playing level is the same for everyone, what has been done in the past has been done and this cannot be changed, you don't get many people complaining of building upgrades that may have been reduced in price because of a new level being introduced. The same could also be said for "I used giant healer strategy in a war before the last update and my healers bought it with those air bombs..." there are so many avenues you can go down once you think retrospectively, therefore it is a can of worms best left in the ground.

if they do that then every one of those complaints would be true for me. But rather than be angry at all the upgrades that affected my wars in the past I would instead just be grateful for all the wars that are now not going to be affected in the future. I really do encourage all to take that stance on any improvements they bring to the game.

i just want to share my thought with other players / forum users about new update for most of old clans not only ours and it's not the most important think for me. maybe it could seen like i'm crying about it cause of my poor english but it's not.

whatever i read all comments you wrote and thank you guys. and i'm convinced you right.

Last year I bought a new mustang. Now I find out that it has been redesigned and I see NEWER ones on the road. It's not fair welsh. I bought mine first. I should have the new one. I mean, how was I to know there were going to be updates. All this time I could have been walking to work and saved my money in anticipation of how much more awesome it was going to be to eventually get to enjoy driving this years model. Shame on you and your countrymen for trying to get me to look at it your way. Now all I have is memories of how awesome I thought it was to drive that lousy old mustang last year while I grit my teeth at the ♥♥♥♥♥ers who bought the new one.

I have a Samsung Galaxy 4 and an IPad 3. Imagine my agony as I have watched the Galaxy 5 and now even 6 come out. And the IPad air series...

My wife has had one of the original Droids for several years now. They never told her they were going to come out with more versions after that first one. Poor girl. Because the thing is so old she is thinking of replacing it with an IPhone 6. But how can she trust them to not just come out with a new version sometime? That would not be fair to her.

The OP has a good point. Samsung should have given me a Galaxy 6 and Apple should be giving me new IPads because its not fair if people that buy them now have features that were not available when I got mine. And look at how many things Motorola owed my wife that she never got. Its really not fair.

I am late to this party but the original poster is absolutely right. The arguments made by the others are not only one sided but just blatantly inaccurate. No one says that Supercell should have bumped clan to level 10 but some kind of stipend should have been implemented. By not doing so they basically said that since the update adding clan wars none of them really counted. Furthermore, how would giving credit for past wars hurt any of you guys. You just see this as an excuse to level the playing field and that is the only reason your fine with it. The dumb phone analogy is wrong. Last time I checked the phone companies do give you credit for having an older phone. To the stupid car analogy well of course better cars come out and they cost more. Pretend you bought a new 2015 and then the '16 comes out same price and better features but the company says you can't trade in your 2015 toward the new '16. Then you would have every right to be upset. Come on guys it's common sense. Lol

I think you need some training up. I specialize in vigorous war training. So hear this: recruit better war peeps, and do better attacks yourself. Oh, and complaining doesn't help. This is how the world works.

First of all, be polite please. No name calling.

Second, everybody gets to start at the same point when clan xp came out. It gave everybody an equal chance to level up clans. Before many clans didnt try to win or did not think wars were as important as they are now. A grandfathering system would not be ideal, because winning wars didnt carry the same consequences as it did before the update. They gave everybody a blank slate, a clean start so that everybody had the same chance. I think the car analogy is pretty bad too, so lets try another analogy.

Your company is doing a large expansion. You had a few hundred co-workers before in a union. The company went bankrupt and the new company that bought it has offered to let you keep your job, but they are hiring more people. Now, before you had high seniority and you had a job as a foreman. They are not reducing your position, but they made everybodys seniority reset once the new company took over. Now, people who got hired with you can out work you and get promoted faster. You will not like this, but for the company, it gives them a chance to have the best and hardest working get the most credit. It better reflects the performance of the individual.

Once again your reasoning is flawed. All our time and effort should not be negated and it was. If I was foreman and you said I would keep my position is exactly my point. In coc we lost our position. I'll correct your analogy. You've worked for a company for several years. You put in a lot of time and effort. Then one day the company decides to start a new promotion policy. However, everyone starts the same. You start the same as any new hire off the street. Forget what you've done the last couple of years because it's irrelevant for this promotion. There's only two camps you can fall into. First camp is you get mad because all your previous years of work is being negated (me). Or you can say get over it because your glad your being put on an even playing field with others who rightfully earned the promotion already (you).

No, there's no reasoning flaw. It's a difference of value. I'm saying skill should be reflected and your saying tenure should be reflected. Clearly Supercell also thinks that skill should be what's reflected because dozens of clans like the OP's got decimated once people started hunting for XP.

Also, tons of company's do just that. Rehire the staff and kick out the union, to get back into a profit. That way the hardest working (and most profitable) employees get the promotions, whereas the people who have not done the greatest job but had been promoted anyway due to tenure are evaluated on performance and not tenure.

Your mixing up reasoning and values. If you want to have a game in which the first player (tenure value) is always the best, I would ask who else would play. There's no over coming the tenure. Games that reflect skill are the only games people play. It gives people a fair fight.

Forget all the analogies. They will never be perfect and people can pull them apart to suit their own viewpoint.

“Unfair” is treating one clan differently to another.

Clan Levels do not disadavantage older clans. Every clan capable of war, were capable of earning XP from the moment they were introduced. It would be unfair to clans and players to retro-actively award XP (not to mention impossible).

Many things in the game change over time. This is just one of them.

thing is, Clans with war wins already had an advantage after they introduced the Level system....that being experience and organization. We didnt need a XP or Level boost also.

You guys make some valid point but in resetting everyone back to what your refer to as fair is devaluing their product. Would you be fine if supercell decided tomorrow to just reset everyone's troop levels back to level one. When they brought out the clan perk update and decided all clans would start equally theybasically negated every war fought up to that point. All the elixir spent on troops. All the gems spent. Any time and effort put into those war wins were completely discarded. Until the clan XP update the prestige for your clan was the war win number. That was made irrelevant with that update. I'm not say they should have bumped every clan to that equivalent level. I'm saying they should have compensated for the time, elixir and gems already put into previous wars. They could have easily done that by some kind of pro-rating. Maybe clans with 20+ wins started with 500 XP or clans with 50+ wins start at level 2. This would have been easy to do. It would not have given any other clan a huge advantage. Let me ask you this, when they add a new level to a troop do they reset everyone's troop back to level one? No because that would be negating all the effort put into each of us getting our troop to that level. That's exactly what they did with the clan XP update. The only reason you are not seeing this must be because it did not effect you. If you were in a clan with any significant amount of war wins then tell me why you feel that all of that clans work should have just been negated.

This sounds to me like the OPs clan is currently going through the growing pains that almost every clan goes through...


When clan wars first started, our clan quickly figured out how to win most of our wars...getting everyone to show up and attack reasonable opponents with solid armies was enough to get us a record of something like 25-7 even if half the clan really wasn't all that good at attacking...but then our core group of TH8s all went to TH9 at the same time, and a couple TH9s went to TH10 too early, and we started losing at least twice as often as we were winning.

The clan ended up fracturing, we lost a number of weaker attackers and a couple people we didn't really want to see go, but the core group stuck around, and within a month or two we got our offenses up to speed and got back to winning about 2/3 of our wars again, which I feel like is pretty good for a clan full of players mostly level 95+.



Now...would it have been better for us if Clan Perks had started the same time as Clan Wars? Absolutely...we were doing 40-50 person wars back then and winning most of them, so we'd likely be a level 5 or even 6 clan right now instead of barely level 4. But oh well. Everyone getting clan perks started off at the same level...you still had the loot bonus, experience, and war record to show before clan perks started, and it wouldn't be fair either (nor fun) if the clans with lots of war experience were just given higher level perks without having to earn them.

Funny, they didn't reset our clan's war record or take back all the loot bonuses we'd gotten. You should write to Supercell about that in the bugs section.

Whether they reset some numbers in regards to the war record is irrelevant because what they did was make the war record obsolete. Plus the loot bonuses back then were ♥♥♥♥. That's why the increased them in a later update. Maybe your different but I don't make hardly any loot from wars. I war for the record, not the loot. Supercell decided that that was unimportant so they cancelled it out.

Plus us as you pointed out in your example how was starting everyone over considered evening the play field? A 40 man war with low level bases is worth the same XP as one with experienced players. In fact your wars will be harder and against other experienced clan but supercell says that experience isn't worth anything so the 40 noobs get as much XP even though half the opponent clan bailed and didn't even attack. Older clans who grew together over their previous wars and decided to stay together after the update found themselves struggling harder for the same amount of XP. Then on top of that reality supercell decided that the clans previous wins were obsolete.

Ill use use this analogy again since you are not acknowledging it. It's the same exact thing. Dragons were max at 4. They decided to upgrade the troop and increase the level to 5. When they did this did they reset every ones dragons back to level one in order to even the playing field? No. Those that earned level four stayed there. Whether or not they zeroed out the war records doesn't matter because they introduced a new currency thus negating the old currency, war wins.
