Best Base Layout Strategies

As a new player I have been fiddling with base layouts, and I'm sure there are more than a few good set ups with similar results, although attack strategies may change. Does any well seasoned players have any good base layout advice for noobs?
I have attached my own noob base with stats. Link advised me earlier to get a mortar which Im working on.

*And for those who dont know- to take a screenshot all you do is press both buttons on your iPad/iPhone at the same time to take a screenshot (top and bottom button). The shot goes into your pictures.

I wouldn't worry about defending so much until you get a little more defensive structures

I guess I see that a little more now, however it doesnt stop beginners from wanting to protect our resources ;)

Jyuine.. i think you are on the right track there with your base, the main problem at your level is barbarians and goblins - the walls are the best way to slow them down so your defences can do their thing. At that level resources are important so protecting them is wise.

You might want to consider upgrading your town hall and then using the next 25 walls to box in your th and then surround it with boxed in defences - if you think of it from the point of view of the attacker the more walls between your th and the attacker the longer it will take to get the guaranteed star.
