Problems with BARCH [Advice needed]

Every guide I read preaches the gospel of BARCH, everyone says it is the easiest way to farm, and the most efficient for making gains on walls and elixir upgrades. But I have just not found that to be true, every time I try to BARCH, the only thing that I get is a mediocre payout and a renewed resolve not to use BARCH. I used BARCH for a good chunk of my time in TH8, but now as a TH9, I have found that it is really difficult to find anything worth raiding.
My issues with BARCH:
-I have a hard time finding bases with high loot (dont like to rely on collector bases)
-It feels very weak since the 4th mortars were added

Questions I have:
-Is Barching only worth it if you play in sessions? (I generally raid about once an hour, running Loonion right now)
-What is considered acceptable loot for a BARCH raid?
-Will I need to be next'ing for a long time? (because I have a 5-10 minute tolerance for nexting)
-What is a good BARCH composition?

What trophy range are you farming in? I stick to crystal 1 mostly and I can usually find a decent collector raid within 5-10 min of nexting, usually not even that long. I hear good things about the Gold range, but I like the win bonus of Crystal too much.

My criteria for raiding is a base with full collectors as well as easily accessible ones with at least 100K or close too if I'm getting sick of nexting.

When I barch I use two finger and drop barbs first, surrounding the base, then archers in the same fashion. Spells and Royals for clean up if needed, but I try to avoid it.

I'm not too informed of the BarchLife, but having 8 wall breakers within your composition will help out ALOT if you are trying to barch.

Whenever I use barch, I always rely on collectors to find loot. I usually go for 100k or more in each resource other than DE. However, if the collectors are easy to get with minimal troop usage, I'll take 80k or more. I always have 1 rax full of barbs and the other 3 full of archers and always carry heal spells. As always, barbs first then archers. If it's a must, or if you're going after storages, heal spells and royals will help tremendously. Instead of the typical 2-finger drop or 4-finger drop, I "dissect" the base. Couple of barbs and archers on one collector, as long as its enough to take it out.

I'm a lower level but I've pretty much given up on barch already. Ever since I started using giants, I've been much better at raiding. Also, I usually add 4 or 5 goblins which I deploy near the end if I'm pressed for time. Of course, I also use some archers and barbarians, but not that many.
I'd say if you intend to farm the really juicy bases you need about 4 wall breakers, but the total elixir and time cost does add up.

Basically from what I understand if you barch you're not even trying to get ALL the resources.

Barch can farm a ton of loot if done correctly. First, you need to look for bases with either collectors or full storages that are easy to get to. I usually to 2 barracks barbs 2 arch, but you can do 3 arch if you want. Nexting usually takes a few minutes to find a good base. Just deploy a couple of barbs on a mine/collector, followed by a few archers.

i think most barchers sit for hours an barch away for profit but low profit, i prefer to attack once or twice than leave i use a stronger army for bigger loot

"dont like to rely on collector bases)" theres your problem from the start. You expect to get into the center of a th9 and get all their storages? I think not... Especially with a cassic barch. You can always try giants or bloonion

To raid active bases, add some giants to your army.

I usually use about 120 arch,80 barbs ,10 wallies,.add some giants if i feel loot is bad

bring 8 wallbreakers so you can either raid collectors or storages. Don't expect to get all storages when using barch.

Here's what you should be looking for and raid with barch in terms of available loot:
-max collector bases
-bases with 4 easily accesible bases, within 1 or 2 walls. These bases should have a minimum of 250K of each or your preferred resources so you can get half of it

1) If you only raid once an hour you can cook almost any army you want. A loonion is gonna get more bases destroyed than a barch raid. so the answer to this is: Barching is better when you play in longer sessions. If you stay online without boosting barracks for an hour you can easily get 3-4 good Barch raids in.

2) Acceptable: depens on your level, what you are looking for and league bonus. When farming for gold I look out for 200k+ gold or 750+ Dark (early TH8). I wouldn't bother attacking for at least 300k combined on gold/elex in any case.

3) You should be able to find a good target within 5 minutes. If you don't I would consider switching league.

4) Mostly players prefer more archers than barbarians. For 200 troops I use 80 Barbs/120 Archers.
I vary sometimes by adding in a few Wallbreakers, around 4 - 8 .

Barch was born from collector farming (and BAM for that matter too)
After that phased out, people started using it for quick 50% wins (league farming)

its a speed build army so its good for GPH/EPH..its not my favorite army either, but when I use it I almost always augment it with some or all of the following (also I like an archer heavy Barch, even though its more expensive elixir wise)

Aug 1: 6-8 WBs so I can get into the storages behind the 1st-2nd layer with more ease.
Aug 2: Aug 1, plus 6-12 Giants and maybe some heal spells (1 per raid or less).
Aug 3: add gobs to each barrax, total of no more than 40.. 20 or so usually do well. they go right for the resources/stores, so if you can clear a path to them they go to town with their multiplier.
Aug 4: *I always carry 16 minions for ANY army I use* much like the gobs, they can clear a storage that your barch has cleared the structures/defenses around.. and no worry of walls or cannon/mortar and such

You can mix and match these augments to suit your style. they all build fast so if you can raid more than once per hour then you will increase your G/E PH(PerHour)

Tips:
look for bases with majority of loot on the outside of the base
Barch 1 TH lower and get a win so you can factor in the loot bonus for your troubles.. obviously you don't need to do this for every raid, but it helps and if you are attacking one TH lower you may not need all of your army.
settle for a number you can live with. for me its 150K of either one Im targeting, if I see more I hit that too, but its about speed, get in, get the loot, get out.. or get the win and get out.

Thall 10 that barches in gold 1-crystal 2 using the barch FFA. I have only been at 10 for like 3 weeks and already have 40zaps and Def looks good too. No point of making these big armies that waste elixir. I get anywhere from 150-350 of each a raid. Just turn a good movie on and get a strong drink and you're set.

As a TH9 with maxed barch you should be easily able to destroy a semi-maxed TH8. At least you should be able to hit 2/3 of the storages!
If you have your heroes and the CC with you it should be easy to storage raid a maxed TH8 or even a semi-maxed TH9.

So you don't have to rely just on collector raids, but surely if you find them they come in handy..
For me it is the perfect troopcomposition for a TH9 as I farmed full TH9 defense, all legos and 120 Lavas in less than 3 months. ;)

If it comes to execution, you first decide whether you want to hit storages in the core or just collectors/storages on the outside or first layer.
If you want to get to the core it's important to completly clear almost one side of the base. After that you send in the rest of your barch and maybe Heroes/CC from this side.

You shouldn't wait after you put in the barbs but send in the archers right after. I would recommend tp spread them as fast as possible with 2 or more fingers.

I normally would look for a 50k raid. And a good comp is at least half and half if not more barbs

Update: Last night I boosted barracks for 2 hours and raided with BARCH, using the tips given to me by all you lovely people I was able to pull about 4m elixir, and 3m gold. Gold went to walls and elixir finished off my second DE drill to 6

I don't know about th9 and 10 but at th8 I regularly get over 200k gold and elixir each attack with barch. It's pretty rare to have to next more than a few minutes also. Twenty minute cheap army with 80 barbs and 120 archers. A lot of the time i can get all the loot without even using all the troops.

I don't know what you higher town halls consider big loot but anything over 200k is good for me. Sometimes i come across the 300k bases and even 400k when I get lucky.

I ran into a very advanced base with my level 5 barch troops and still managed to take more than half of his 500k + gold and elixir. Collectors of course.

It seems to be the best method for profit.

Barching is the best way to farm at any thall lvl

I've always birches, and I barch now at th 9 working on lava walls and I think it's the best farming strategy. Not saying this directly to you, but people need to learn how to storage raid bases eith barch instead of relying on desd bases. I can farm 4m gold in a boost with barch when loot is good. Barch is the most profitable farming strategy so I'm not sure why people say it's a bad strategy.

I use 100 Archers, 100 Barbs and 6 WB when farming.

Barch is great , Just Add some Wall breakers , EightGiants or Miz, A Healer if you want and Some Level 5 or Above Wiz make it Perfect!

You don't want any troops other than barb and archer in my opinion. The point of it is fast cheap army to max profit.

I sit in Gold 2, I'm a TH9 but my BARCH is lvl5, using the tips in this thread I've gone back into barching and am loving it

Your statement about finding bases with high loot is the reason to use Barch. I'm a TH 8 and Barch costs 30,000 elixir. The overall return on investment is higher. 30k on balloons you only get 6 of them. So anything over this is a return. So say 60k elixir min. or 150k-200k combined.

I've watched a lot of youtube videos on Barch, and I think people use Barch ineffectively. Instead of spreading them around the whole base Barbs then Archers or along one side.

Try picking a corner. Picture a compass and drag your finger from N to E, N to w, S to E or S to West. So your increasing your surface to volume ratio and not diluting your DPS.

If you were going to add anything, add Minions. Start dropping them one at a time, right at the corner you swept (ie. NE). I can get an easy 50%.

I'm sorry if I didn't answer your question directly. I just watch so many people use it in a non optimized manner.

I am a new TH8 with lvl5 giants and lvl4 archers and goblins. I always have 6 giants, 20 goblins and 8 WB. This lets me get into the core of most bases.
Archer and goblins work well, too, but you must have giants for a meat shield.
Patience is the key. There are many bases out there with massive loot...

What you describe is not barch. Barch stands for barbarians and archers, not archers, giants, goblins and wall breakers.

Train more barbs than archers then use iron fist with the barbs to crush your way to the storages.
