I need 290 carrots. Ugggh, try to get rid of all of *those*. Small silo problems xD
I've done all MY 5 tasks already. If I want more I will have to pay 10 diamonds. I won't but I'm sure there are those who will. Now I don't know if the next task will cost more. I'm not going to pay 10 diamonds to find out.
Our prizes so far for the first checkpoint will be 2 saws, 2 dynamite and 3 cheese. Really glad to see that they are adding dairy at least to the prize pool.
Go Team!
Hi folks. Let's keep this thread for posts on task status and such just as in the OP. Please post any questions or complaints into the update feedback threads.
Anything about the update: http://forum.supercell.net/showthrea...-Now-Available!
Specific to Derby: http://forum.supercell.net/showthrea...hborhood-Derby
Happy Racing to all. :)
Now I need 45 kgs of fish!
Harvest 200 pumpkins for 249 horseshoes!
You only get one more task if you pay the ten diamonds.
Excavate 85 ores = 313 horseshoes.
Good thing I saved up to 60 Pickaxes through global rewards and chests. Looks like I need 17 Pickaxes for instant 313 hs. I used mostly shovels for ores to make jewelries. My last task for this.
I don't need to pay 10 diamonds for extra tasks since my other neighbours are doing tasks as well.
The horseshoes prizes are nice:
1st: 1 of 5 butter, 2 TNT or 2 dynamite
2nd: 1 of 1 deed, 2 shovel or 1 pickaxe
3rd: 1 of 1 cow balloon, 1 plank or 1 panel
Obviously, i will pick butter, shovel and balloon.
A couple things to keep in mind...
You can only work on one task at a time. So try to coordinate with your Hood and claim tasks appropriately so you can work on more than one goal at a time. For example, plant a crop you intend to harvest later, and work on another task while it grows. Wait until they are ready to harvest before you take the task. Just make sure nobody else takes the task in the mean time - communication is key.
Filling visitor requests in town is counted by filling ALL of their requests. So make sure to dismiss the visitors asking for 3 locations if you are going for that goal. Another Neighbor can pick them up on their personal train and fill their 1 location request more easily.
Since you can only grab 5 orders, try to prioritize the ones worth the most points (assuming you can actually fill them) to get the most overall for your neighborhood.
The leader can trash orders from the board.
Individuals can trash orders they have already claimed if they don't want to finish them, BUT it still counts towards your total quote of orders. So be careful about grabbing any orders you cannot fill.
now I have two boats. The first one will actually be done soon :). i didn't trust myself with six or more, though.

Let's keep this thread simple.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
I'm liking the derby so far! Is it true that when we have finished our 5 chosen tasks we are "done" so to speak, and can't directly, at least, help our neighbors? I was hoping we could, but I see now that perhaps that wouldn't work anyway given how the derby is set up...
I guess most of us are not that far along yet, so I'm just wondering about your current understanding. And thanks, for the info here!
you cannot help "directly" as in giving someone tomatoes if they need to harvest them. They need to harvest them themselves. But if they have boat or truck or town order tasks, or a mine task, you can help them pretty directly by filling crates/ selling them things they need for their task!
Is the final goal 5000 points regardless of neighborhood size?
If so, a neighborhood with four members has to get at least 250 points per task to finish, or 200 points per task if everyone spends the diamonds for the sixth task.
What happens if the derby ends and no one has reached 5000?
Many thanks. This is really fun, but much less so if you can only do 250 point tasks.
The tutorial/information about the derby states that the leader can trash the untaken tasks. Why can anyone in the neighbourhood trash the tasks? Bug?
Does anyone know if a new neighbor comes into the hood mid-derby if they can participate in the current derby?
Im pretty sure they can't and they don't get the prizes either. I think that's what I read.
I guess that's what they meant when they said if you aren't in a neighborhood, you should join one before the update.
I thought they meant they were going to raise the price of opening the NH house or something.
That question has been answered in the support pages which are released along with the update.
The real question is can you resume the derby and recieve rewards if you leave your neighborhood and then come back to it.
Personally, a match up Derby must do at least the following:
a) Matching up NH in similar size to other NH before a Derby starts.
b) Any new members who join the NH after Derby starts shouldn't be allowed to join in the Derby that already started.
c) Members who left NH after completing 5 tasks and rejoin, shouldn't get 5 new task to do because of b).
Other than these 3 above, any other loopholes regarding of NH size before, during and after a Derby starts should be fix before the next Derby starts.
Edit: Personally, any members that left and rejoin should count as a new member.

Wheat -- 450/UDE/259 DP
indigo -- 240/UDE/284 DP
Hi
We just had a harvest 500 wheat fields for 290 hs task.
55 wool / UDE / 303 DP
Is this list just for the highest Derby Point tasks? I've got a couple to add:
60 Milk / 10 h / 277 DP
260 Pumpkin / UDE / 313 DP
Anyone know what happens if the time runs out on a derby task? Does it count as one of the 5 etc etc?
70 milk - 320 derby points :D
Can't remember time. sorry. I will make a note next time.
Does anyone know, on the town visitor one, do any visitors count? Even the 1-shop visitors you get from a neighbor?
Yes those also count.
In the mean time, you can take another task and prepare for the townie task. All you need to do for preparation is serving 1 building townies (or multiple as well) and not collecting the rewards. The townies that you finish serving before taking up the task also does count. Use the town hall to navigate thru visitors. :)
It's not a race.....handcuffing players the way it's designed is hardly a race.
Lets get real....the derby is a "new activity" let's call it what it REALLY is. A race it is NOT!!!
Its new...it's boring....and you failed to bring a new consistent element to the game....most active NH will be done with the derby in 2 days at most......7 days to reset.....zzzzzzzz!!!!
Feel free to pm me anytime you want to get most bang for your buck SC.
It is not a race, it is a derby. the rules respect that people live in different time zones and have lives outside of hayday. It is not intended to be a person's 24/7 farm experience. You finish your 5 tasks, fill crates, feed townies, etc. Restock for next time. eagerly await new derby.
Perfect for us high level farmers- gives me a new challenge each week. Something to look forward to.
I'm prompted to ask as I'm truly curious after reading other posts of yours in this vein on other threads, prior to the derby what did you do, or rather how did you play?
I'm honestly trying not to be rude, but it's very apparent you're not thrilled with the derby as you find it boring, it's not a race, it's unfair, etc, etc., so I have to wonder if the derby is so disappointing in your estimation, what was the thrill for you in farming before it was introduced?
Essentially, the same tasks, filling orders & collecting goods, are being done much the same as before. The only thing that has changed is now those tasks must be accomplished in certain time limits, & if successful, you get your choice of prizes for doing them which wasn't an option previously. I don't understand how getting something now that you didn't get before for doing the same chores is such a bad thing.
You've stated that once derby tasks are completed, there's nothing more to do. Will you not continue farming until the next derby begins? Before the derby when a boat was filled or trucks were sent off, did you stop farming because that task was accomplished? If not, what was your incentive to continue then?
Again, I'm not trying to be rude or to pick a fight, but I'm not getting where all your angst is coming from. Farming is a perpetual activity in Hay Day. It never was a race to the finish, & it never stops unless you choose to stop, so why has the introduction of a time frame focused on doing a certain number of tasks you would do anyway -whether for extra rewards or not- thrown you off your game so severely?:)

Mining:50 ore until derby ends 230 points,
ive done other mining ones one for 70 ore but for the life of me I cant remember the points
I have seen (and took of course) mining task of mining 85 or for 313 derby points. :)
But I am listing the highest available in each category to show players the best optionsi so that they can decide to trash the low point ones. :)
So far it seems that 320 derby points seems to be absolute maximum in each category, but it may be too soon to judge. :) My all time favourite would be harvesting "insert any number" fields of wheat for 320 derby points. :smirk:
My comment on all tasks categories, except harvesting and collecting animal products. :) The preparation you can do is limited to your number of fields or animal pens in those categories. :)
Mining: Mining tasks seems to be the fastest tasks to complete, only if you have the tools of course. But you can prepare for mining tasks. Until derby update my mine have always been fully stockpiled. In case you don't know, if you have a full barn every time you use a mining tool, you can continue mining until there are less than 50 ores in the mine. So mine can hold up to 49 + 5 (pick axe) ores. From now on I am emptying my mine to prepare for the mining task. Because collecting ore from mine does not count against the mining task, but using tools on the mine without collecting the ore do count.
Truck Orders: You can complete the trucking tasks with the highest number of trucks in less than half an hour. :) Remember doing turbo trucker III? The things that you can do to prepare seems to be limited here as well. You can set up a full table with the orders that you want to take. This category seems to be the most sustainable category after the harvest and animal product tasks of course. Making 25+ truck orders might be difficult for players with low levels and small barns but high level players can take any of those. I think high level and big barn players should leave the 'hard to find' harvest and collect tasks to low level and small barn players. :)
Fishing: You can catch 120 lbs of fish with red lures in less than 10 hours. The fishing event would be pretty handy for these tasks but in normal times, using red lures seems to be the most reliable way. There are too many fish types for colored lures and you can't predict if the fish you will catch will be worth it (4+lbs). But with red lures you can predict to catch sockeye salmon each time you use a red lure. And those weigh about 4 lbs on average. That means you can reach 120 lbs with about 30 red lures. :) Having a full lure maker (just like mine) helps here greatly. The key to catching sockeye salmon everytime is to check how slow can the fish me moved by pulling the thread. After the fish bites the bait, pull the string across the screen and watch how fast the fish moves. Sockeye salmon moves remarkably slower than copper redhorse and huchen. Cast red lures until you find a slow moving fish and only catch them. Huchen weighs 2 lbs on average, sockeye salmon weighs 4 lbs on average, do the math. :)
Town Visitors: This is my favourite. Just try to serve as much as possible 1 building (personal train) visitors and you will progress much faster. Fun fact: you can finish 2 tasks for 20 town visitors (298 derby points) in two minutes. :D All you need to do is trapping 40 gift carrying finished townies in your service buildings. That requires navigating via town hall and only taking personal train visitors. But preparing for 20 townies can be done in less than 10 hours. :) You can choose to take the task once you are ready or NOT. :P
Boat Orders: This is my least favourite, simply because it takes ages for me to complete 12 boats. I would take the 12 boat task on my last task just because it gives 320 points. :)
Oops sorry myso.... I missed the bit about the highest part :) stupid tablet screen, I skipped a whole page of posts and didnt realise.
I like your list, i see plenty of people using it to make sure they only do the highest tasks
Wen will the next derby start? I can't wait sc make it sooner pls😊btw we won the derby fair and square no real comoetition we passed the fifth horseshoe with nearly 2days to spare we are nw 16000+ points and second place is jus 5.6k so pls be competitive. We want tough competition.

Thanks AmberDawn, ZielonyKapturek & MadeleineAkaino! Updated. :)
Just completed catching 120 lbs of fish with 30 red lures. All of them were sockeye salmon and I can say that it is hard to find a sockeye salmon in the fishing spots with the minimum cool off times (2h, shallow fishing areas), Next time I run this task I will catch ducks in those areas, and do fishing in the other zones. The best fishing area was the rocky fishing area below left of the water fall fishing area. But the ones with longer cool off time was generally better. :)
Currently doing a slightly better animal task: 60 bacon / 1d10h / 320 DP
How do you even start a task? I did one, and have four remaining but only message I get is "failed to start task." I don't get it.
100 eggs / 5h30min / 312 DP
350 carrots / UDE / 300 DP
300 sugarcane / UDE/ 306 DP
Thanks for the fishing tips, myso!
I started with 110lbs fishing task as my first one during this derby, I'm using blue and worm lures and most of all, fishing as casual way as I always used to do! I make about 12-15 lures each day - worm and green mostly, so I realised I can complete this task in 3 days max just by doing my casual fishing and nothing extra. This time only switched from green to blue lures as I'm saving for kittens :)
This task will keep me busy for 3 days and I will have 4 days to complete remaining 4 tasks (townies, trucks, mining) - easy peasy! I finished my tasks in one day during last derby and was frustrated later becouse I couldn't do more and had to wait! So this time, I like to make it slowly :) Did 58/110 lbs so far, and got 3 diamonds from gold medal yellow bass, yaaay! :D
Our Neighbourhood is having great fun doing these Derby tasks. One or two of our members seem rejuvenated and we definitely work as a collective. So big thumbs up from me.
The prizes may not be the greatest but they are free and frankly it's the taking part which is more important.
Personally I pick tasks which have around 300 points so did a couple of 25 trucker yesterday to give us an early lead. Whilst it massacred my barn stocks (I now know why I rarely do trucking) it was good for our team, good for me too as the xp gained took me through a mid level threshold gaining 5 diamonds in the process.
Yes it had a glitch and some of my neighbours lost a turn and the points but it's been reported so we'll see what results.
The game is refreshed with this event and we all seem to be enjoying playing with common goal.
Is there a way for the leader and co-leaders to delete a task in the derby? There are times our leader is not on for most of the morning, which leaves us stuck with the same tasks for quite a long time.
250 lettuce 305 hs ude
I think elders should be able to delete tasks. It allows our NH to have a few people who are playing at different times keep the tasks fresh and repopulating.
Yes, keep elders too. Quite frankly, I'd be okay with everyone being allowed. The only way to win the derby is to focus on 300+ point tasks. There are easy 300+ tasks for every level (ie wheat collection, etc) so the more people that can help unearth those tasks, the better. Now if you get rid of the five task per person limit, having only co/leaders be allowed to delete would make sense.
Definitely keep allowing elders to delete the orders - our hood is spread across the globe but we're all of the same mind regarding our tasks, so we need elders to be able to trash the low pointers whilst our leaders are sleeping😄
Our leader and co-leader are in different time zones, but even still they aren't always able to be on, so it is actually helpful for the elders to be able to manage the task board as well...we do usually discuss whether or not to delete, but it would be helpful if there wasn't a leader around for the elders to be able to do it.
Wow... This would be a total disaster for our NH Nick.😥
Our leader is 8hrs behind me and although our co leader is in the same time zone as myself , she is busy working most of the day ( but does get chance to pop in now & again) .
I was chosen as an elder as I am a VERY active , helpful member of the hood . I can't speak for my leader or co leader, but if they gave the responsibility of being able to invite, except & decline any new members, I feel sure they have no problem in me making a decision in deleting a derby task ... All in the best interest of the NH of course.
Will be interesting to hear the views from Leaders/ co leaders 😄
Due to the time zone differences it is helpful to have elders able to delete orders. Our leader, the other co leader and myself are not always around to be able to do so.
We are all active players but we all have real lives too
I am the co leader of our hood and would hope and request that the elders would still be allowed to delete tasks. We are a close knit team from all different time zones and all elders act to the benefit and enhancement of the hood. Without their help deleting tasks the Derby choices would be much less fair and hoodies would often have to either take tasks they don't want or not do them.
Thanks for the information Spaniel girl. I didn't know they were thinking of changing it.
I have been a member of a 30-farm neighborhood for several months. We have a leader, a co-leader and one elder. However, I believe they all are inactive because I have never seen any of them do anything on their farms. The rest of us have become a tight-knit group and are doing pretty well in the derbies (finished second in the first one, and leading the current one). It's frustrating to all of us that none of us can trash tasks. I'm starting to believe that one of us will have to start a new neighborhood and try to convince the others to follow. But I don't like that idea. Is there anything else we can do?
290 Sugarcane Fields / UDE / 296 DP
110 lbs / UDE / 298 DP
I agree that elders, co-leaders and leaders should be allowed to trash tasks. My my NH the leaders and co-leaders and on the other side of the world and we would be stuck if the elders could not delete. Please do not change this!!!!!
I vote YES for letting elders keep the ability to delete tasks too.
It's for this very reason I'm considering promoting members in our NH. Even tho my two co-leaders & I are in different time zones, there are instances of where we're not always available (GASP!), so if elders can trash tasks, they can easily repopulate the board rather than waiting for one of us to clear some of the worse ones out of the way.
edited to add: Can anyone provide a link to the thread where Nick is asking for opinions on this? It'd be helpful to be able to reply directly there rather than in several spread out threads.
IMO Elders need to continue to delete tasks. We have had a lot of neighbourhood discussion on the deletion strategy and our Elders trash according to the direction of the group and ultimately our leader. Because of the time zone differences, and real life happening, it would be difficult to compete without the help of the elders.
^^^ Thanks! I just skimmed the previous posts & obviously overlooked Nick's question here, but I did see a similiar comment from him in the Update is Here thread over in the News forum.
Just his question on the page before Jem😀😀
I apologize if this has been asked.
But when the derby says 'mine x amount of ores' (ores?) does that mean only iron ore, or does it mean anything from the mine? (Other than the diamonds.)
Thanks.
Any kind of ore. You don't even need to pick it up, just dig it out
Any ores from the mine, they all count😀😀
This was the first derby that I have completed all five tasks. However, I was truly disappointed to find out that more tasks can be started for ten diamonds. Imo, that ruins the whole integrity of the derby.
What does everyone else think of being able to buy more derby tasks?
