Babysitting your game? Wait, I didn't sign up for this?!

For a casual game (at least I've been told a few times and what I understood), there are some things that are hardly casual about it.

• You can't hope to switch mobile device tasks away from the CoC app for more than 3-5 mins without getting attacked when gathering loot, but otherwise, like at night sometimes, it takes 2-3 hours or more before someone attacks.
• Revenge attacks requires you to constantly check, recheck, and check again every other time you think about it to catch an open target, and then attack within 1 to 45 mins before the window closes. So there is realistically no time to make an army after the opportunity opens up, unless you want to Barcher them. :rolleyes:
• Have to poke in more than a few times every few hours and see who needs more stuff for war or just raiding so you can meet those donation amounts the leader wants.

Am I missing anything? I know I'm missing more than a few other issues...

Again I got raided because I misjudged my micro-shield grace period for going 'off line' (when in actuality, I just switched apps and it load shed automatically as per CoC's program) and got a notice I was being attacked moments before I was going to poke back in. More than a few times I 'log on' just in time to only to see my base being eyed over in the scout view, just before it either gets attacked, or passed over by a raider. Even logged in after only 3 seconds has passed during the other guy's scout viewing!

I don't know how other people manage! Do active people spend as much time, and as much dedication, to keeping thier app up and babysitting thier log on as much as I do, or even more so (and have just as much of, or less of, a life as I do)? Yes, it finally dawns on me after being TH8 (playing since Mid Oct) that to be successful and rewarded with a constantly growing base with lots of loot, you have to have very little of a real life to speak of to put that much effort into this game.

What about the teenagers playing this? Even I had homework and a social life to attend to back then, before graduating and a mediocre job and depression killed much of the finer things in life for me. How the heck are they expected to have fun with time sensitive 'stuff' like that happening in-game, an addictive game at that? And no, you can't expect them to just gem the problems away. Not all of it can be, nor will most want to spend that much money, let alone for that long.

Granted, this is a popular, top grossing game, that got lucky and put Supercell on the map, able to even make a frick'n Superbowl ad for (link of ad in my signature BTW), but this game could use some major tweaks in gameplay to remove the stress in playing. More people would feel like staying, which means more people would feel like spending real money for gems.

(Sorry for the ranting tone. Always get annoyed being on the wrong side of a well deployed Archer Queen.)

It would not happen in 3 seconds. But hey, when you have no shield and you're off clash, you're fair game for attack

You seem to be missing the point. I'm mid-TH8 having played since Feb last year. I still enjoy it a lot and while I max out at every TH, I still have a life. (I even have a rushed second account at TH7). You will be the best, yes, if you play hardcore, but don't lose sight of the fact, it's a game! Play it how you want.

Babysitting and this game is one of tha main reasons for building big structures. Everybody wants big loot of yours. I dont turn off the game and babysit them till i reach 8 mil from 5-6 mil. Your beginning to be very atractive for the players from 5 mil. There is no other choice..

Just quit your job, get a divorce, cede custody of your kids to your spouse, and sign up for food stamps. problem solved.

You did miss my point... much of it. I don't know why you think turning off notification would help me not get attacked. Point was how fast you get attacked when you look away for a moment. Re-read what I said. Could have sworn I typed things in English.

Revenge is not luck. It is being on when the other guy is done with thier usual time of being active. Since I'm on often during the entire day and night, I can catch people when they are open, farming base or not. And knowing I can, I get an army ready, or zap ready. But that's not the point. Point is, no one else is really on that much, besides guys like me with too much time on thier hands. How is that fair, and how can you call that playing casually? Actually read the comment. Don't assume I'm ranting about my own issues.

I'm already in a clan that is 'more caual' than I am. I am pointing out a problem that others have. I am the most giving person in the clan, giving dragons half the time, getting 3-3.5k points or more in donations. Second and third place people are at 1k, with the rest being fairly pathetic in comparison. You know what people say when you assume, right?

I'm point out gameplay issues, but haven't gotten to any ideas yet for a fix. Was actually rushed for time, and just wanted to get this out there. Ha! 5mill? I'm a TH8! You get over one million of gold or Elixir, or 15,000 Dark Elixir, you are good enough for TH9s to raid (OK, maybe not 1mill, but 2+ yeah). I wish I could hold 4 million of anything without being attacked. Thought someone like you knew how life was like as an early stage TH8.

Actually, was hoping others would say, "Yeah, I had <personal example> and it really bugs me." and then after some replies could think of how to go about fixing it. Instead I seem to speak Greek while typing in English, and get totaly the wrong effect intended. 'Everyone' (not technically everyone) assumes it is all about my problems, or how I want to wreck thier style of play. :facepalm:

Honestly, the much of those rants are indirectly answered in another thread or two I've made, but nobody really reads those threads. :rolleyes:

  • The only thing that is really time sensitive is that in wars you have 2 attacks to do in 24h everything else is determined by how you want to play and what clan you are in. Never want to attack? You can sit somewhere log in 2 times a day and collect from mines/pumps build what you can there you go, Want to break the all time season attack record? Play non stop from the moment you wake up until the moment you go to bed for 2 weeks straight. The game is what you make it, many people here play long stretches and lament the fact that they can now only play 2-4 hours a day.

I'm a teen, but I only play CoC and Hay Day combined for about 2-3 hours max per day.. Usually just around an hour though. I haven't had to many problems with being attacked tbh.. And I'm a semi maxing TH7... But I agree with most of what you said nevertheless.
