Loot penalty needs to be re-balanced
I'm a recent schmuck convert to Town Hall 10 and I underestimated the true Severity of the loot Penalty. It has gotten to the point where I am so frustrated that I have been forced to post into a Blog that most likely goes absolutely nowhere. I know this given the auto-responses I receive from the in-game feedback.
I am having trouble understanding the 50% Penalty to Town Hall 10s dropping to Town Hall 8s. The logic of "protecting" the lower level bases is both flawed and lazy. The idea is flawed given that if there was such an outrageous gap between TH10 Attack Power and TH8 Defense Power, then the Problem lies with Town Hall 8s having too little Defense. Rather than penalize your most dedicated players, provide those up and coming bases with more to build further providing them more power to ward off more powerful attacks. Perhaps a single X-Bow at TH8 or higher levels to the mortars? Then you can provide the penalty of say 70% rather than the ridiculous 50%.
Rather than really attacking the supposed balance issue of as I was told you had "received many complains about high level players dropping trophies to raid players with 30 levels below them. The weaker players had no chance to defend themselves." Another idea would be to cap leagues. If I am Town Hall 8-10 then I shouldn't be allowed to drop "30 Levels" as you put it. Let me stay in a league more suited for my Town Hall. Make the leagues mean something! You can certainly allow players to bump up leagues but don't let them bump down? The word "League" implies a sport style design. Take a play book from all major pro leagues around the world and make your top tier players play in Top Tier leagues? For example, the NHL, NBA and MLB all have Pro leagues coupled with minor & developmental leagues. However, The LA Kings or the San Francisco Giants are not allowed to go to the minor leagues and win games for improve their records. Why not apply the same logic here?
I would be more than happy to have a discussion about ideas or concepts that may be beneficial to the wider audience but please don't trivialize this matter. I've dedicated too much time to this game to have it end with this "Gotcha" tactic with respects to my upgrade.
It feels like you treat your most dedicated players as addicts. You hope they make a mistake like I did so that you can get them to buy your gems and make it better. I completely understand the business aspect and respect what this game has done. And yes, I spend money on the game too! But this is just unfair and poor business.
I hope I get a response out of this and again would be more than happy to discuss further!
