I'd echo the earlier post, and recommend balloons only until TH8 or so (with L5 balloons).
TH7 and earlier tend to be fairly easy with just "cheap ground" troops (e.g., arch/gobs/wbs, etc). So, no particular reason to use heavy troops (except to burn elixir and to have fun of course). I saw the follow-up comment, and if you are TH5 and at 2k or so trophy, well... that's a hard road to take, but heck, we're all eating premie TH10s nowadays, so shrug...

Great explanation of how to use the Balloon for an effective raid, I have been using this approach and has been very effective. Balloons are now my overnight cooking army.
I am sorry such a contributing member of our community is forced to be off for a period of time. Illustris you are definitely more helpful to me than those who claim they ensure we have a "gaming experience."
My gaming experience is much more enjoyable when I can check the forums for new strategies and tips on how to play a game, regardless of which game.

I don't personally use balloons but im gonna give them a go now!! Besides my elixir storages and bursting they are so full! ;)
this is what's possible with just balloons and drags. yes, my net elixer profit after you subtract troop cost isn't stellar. but still... for those of us who hop on very intermittently...
I believe all were TH9s and the other troops you see in log are from CC.

Ballons with drags and minions work great, because so far only the top dogs cared about air defence. With the late developments, I think people are using much more flyers, even with the added AD. Nice finds, Higgs :cool:
Sorry for bringing up this old post but how many balloons/ minions/ arch should I use with 220 spaces?
I would use 20 balloons, 50 minions and 20 archers.Quote:
