My TH3 after 2 days of playing, what to do next?

Hi all,
I've been playing COC for 2 days now. It's my first time playing this game, and my first account. Yes, I've already broken my shield and attacked tons of people.

Obviously I have a slight issue with my walls, this will be fixed when I get to TH4. I'd like to upgrade enough walls to the 2nd level to at some point surround either a gold mine or elixir collector with walls one time.
As you can see, I'm waiting for my mortar to be finished.
I'm going to bed once my upgrades are done but I'll launch longer upgrades while I'm sleeping.
I've just been attacked and lost 1.6k gold and 1K elixir, though since my "coffers" were full anyway it doesn't matter.
The Chinese guy sent 6 giants and 1 archer against my village but only managed to destroy 37% of it.
Overall I've only suffered a complete destruction once.

What would you upgrade tonight and tomorrow if you were me?
My cannons and my archer tower are level 2. I've already unlocked the archers for the camp.

Should I just upgrade my gold and elixir storages? My issues with that is that these are "short upgrades" which will be quite inexpensive and finished way before I wake up.

At that level there isn't really that much room for creativity in the base building aspects of the game. You shouldn't be enclosing that Boulder next to the gold mine. The walls can be used elsewhere. Now to the topic you asked about, what you should upgrade. I don't remember how high you can upgrade stuff with a level 3 town hall. If you can, you should upgrade your archer tower 1st. Maybe your canons and camps next. No matter what you upgrade always remember to not upgrade your town hall until you have upgraded everything else as high as it will go. Every time you upgrade your town hall the cost to hit the "next" button goes up.also the amount of loot available to take goes up. if you attack someone with a higher level town hall you get more available loot than if you two were on the same town hall level. The opposite goes for if you attack a lower level town hall. If you upgrade everything before the town hall you will then have the advantage of being able to take more while still being the same strength. I hope this helps. I'm sorry if I'm just repeating stuff you have already heard.:cool:

P.S. save those gems for another worker! Don't spent em yet!
Also, breaking your shield and attacking isn't bad. Its actually good so long as you attack often. If you are active, then most of your resources will come from others. Your mines pumps and (when the time comes) drills are just an extra bonus.

Sadly, I've already upgraded my archer tower to the max for my gold/elixir storage capacities. Same goes for the mortar apparently.
I absolutely need to be able to store 20k-25k gold and elixir to get better defenses, so I guess I have to work on that first.
I've decided against upgrading my cannon and camps overnight, because I badly need gold if I want to get my walls and other things higher.

Is there anything that I should absolutely improve? As you can see I've listened to you and moved some things around. I've also spent tons of gold on upgrading my walls to level 2.

Even if I know I'll need to play less for the next few weeks (exams + studying for my driver's license) I still think attacking was the best choice.
I was able to get my castle repaired and to build about 35k worth of walls, and other stuff thanks to attacking.
That being said, I only did it because I made the "mistake" of upgrading my camps and putting defenses up right when I started playing.

if you play a lot, go for storages first. What's the us of looting if you got nowhere to keep it

Should I upgrade the camps after the storages or rather the mortar/tower/cannon?

if you are active enough, your collectors wouldnt be full so why protect a collector when you have that storage unprotected in the north side

All my storages are now protected by the 2 cannons, the archer tower and the mortar. I'm probably going to surround the level 5 gold storage with the level 2 walls.

I would say wall off your Mortar + Storages, as they are important.
No need to put walls around obstacles or gold mines/elixir collectors.

TH3 huh, here is what you should do right now:

- join a clan, preferably one with TH8+
- start rushing your TH to lvl 5, construct new building available, upgrade storage until you can upgrade TH again. Farm resource from dead bases in Bronze league, stay there!.
- Ignore defense before you get to TH5, but don't ignore offense! upgrade your barracks and AC if possible.

After you RUSH to TH5, sit there and slowly grind up your walls and defense until all your offense, defense, and walls are maxed. Collectors are optional. and make sure you max out your base before moving on every th lvl after that.

Dont listen to that guy... Rushing no good

EDIT: I don't plan on rushing. I know I can be attacked by anyone right now (I was attacked by a level 112). However, the more I up my TH, the more attractive I will become to those higher levels.

Moreover, I don't want to be the weakling all the time. I've played this "type" of game before, and I rushed.
Honestly, it ruined my experience so much that I just had to quit 3 months after I started playing hardcore.

I've ran some calculations and it will take me approximately 2 weeks to max absolutely everything at TH3.
For obvious reasons, I'm probably not going to max out my collectors. I'll have a busy month of April/May/June, so I don't see why I should rush.

I fail to see the advantages. I wouldn't be able to beat more difficult targets, but I'd be a perfect target for tougher people. Hm.

I'm almost done upgrading all my walls to level 3.
I've ran out of meaningful things to do with my elixir, which is kind of annoying. Basically, I don't have enough storage capacity to work on upgrading my troops, and simply upgrading army camps or barracks instead of using the builders for storage upgrades is 1. counterproductive 2. stupid.

I've already removed all the obstacles for gems with both elixir and gold, except for a few stones that are worth 20k gold.

I have another question: If I upgrade my barbarians, doesn't that have drawbacks, such as needing more time to train them? I mean I don't mind paying the extra elixir, but time is another issue when I'm farming.

I guess I'll be bored for the next few days if all I get to do is upgrade buildings. Upgrades take hours already...
I like farming but I don't have anything left to use my resources on.

go to 1250 trophy, it'll give you 500 gem. buy yourself another builder (you may want to go to 4th builder, you'll find it helpful at th7). just snipe at outside th.

lab upgrading only increasing it damage, hitpoints, and cost. training time stays the same

another advice: go max your camp when you can, bigger army means bigger firepower

I really want to trophy push but I don't have enough firepower, and I'd end up not finding one single adversary I can get loot out of, so I'm not doing that yet.
If I just take out the obstacles every day for a little less than 3 weeks, I will get my builder too. :) There are also achievements such as defending 10 attacks which I'll get soon.

Once I get the "10 attacks defended" achievement, I'll probably just aim for 400 trophies so that I can get into the bronze league and get a bonus when I attack. The loot at below 200 trophies is horrible. Above 200 trophies is a bit better, but still pretty dismal.

Currently, I am:
- Upgrading one army camp
- Upgrading one barracks
- Researching barbarian in the laboratory
This will be done before I go to bed, so I haven't decided what my builders will do while I'm asleep.

Once I'm done with that, what should I do next in your opinion?
Things left to do for TH4:
- 2 levels of elixir storage (4 to 6)
- 2 levels of gold storage (4 to 6)

Start the archer upgrade
Upgrade cannon / archer tower
Upgrade army camp
Upgrade storages to level 5 (only go to level 6 if you are having trouble holding loot)
Upgrade barracks if you have the loot, but priotize the goblins
Start TH 4 upgrade
Work on your collectors --- These are actually important, make sure to upgrade them!! Even if you don't depend on them for loot, higher level = higher hitpoints = more time to destroy

I'm currently working on my cannon and army camp. I've also started the archer upgrade. My storages are full (I actually wasn't able to loot all of the gold I got while attacking :().
So, since I've upgraded pretty much everything and I'm currently really bored because I don't have anything left to spend my loot on, here's my official announcement: I'm moving up to TH4!

Why? Well, at that point, I don't even care at TH3 if I'm robbed because my loot has become useless. Also, I'm really, really impatient to unlock the new walls. That way, if I'm in a farming mood, I can spend my loot on my walls instead of just letting it sit there.

I'll max upgrade all my storages tomorrow, then the last barrack. Everything else has been done.

I'm launching the TH4 upgrade in about 40 minutes when my builder is available, because it takes 24 hours.

try and earn all of the achevments you can to earn you gems DO NOT SPEND GEMS! purchase as many builder huts as you can as they are the best building in the game. always keep a builder free if you plan to be on for awhile to upgrade walls. join a clan to help you out, you are welcome in my clan while you get your base going, my clan name is Erocity and i am a town hall 9, feel free to join and good luck!

Don't let your lab or builder rest, upgrade things on your priority list first, if you can't, upgrade something else, but keep them working! You should not see Zzzzz or [Research] in your base.


Seriously though, get to TH5 asap, No One Attacks TH5 or below, since the real farming level begins at TH7, and they farm on TH6 and above.

Oh ya, and your defense doesn't stand a chance if someone do decide to attack you, that is why spend as much resource as possible, (gold on walls and elixir on troop/upgrades), and trust me, you don't need to max out anything before TH5 because it simply doesn't matter. Join a good clan, get some wiz or minion in your CC and that will be all you need for both offense and defense.

I get what you're saying, but I guess it would be hard to find a clan willing to give me wizards, archers or barbarians daily, even once.
I don't think they would be interested in my donations of level 2 barbs (though I personally love 'em).I know having wizards in my CC is a big advantage.

Corrupted027 I really appreciate your offer and I tried to get into your clan, but it says "only 1000 trophies and higher" so I can't join. Could you temporarily lift the 1000 prerequisite?

To give you an idea, I plan on being a daily casual player with bursts of farming when I feel like it. I'm not going anywhere. I can offer barbs level 2, archers level 2 and a nice little chat.
I'm pretty sure I'll be able to log in daily for the rest of the year. However, I do have some very time-consuming commitments (internship/college exams) in the near future. At that point, farming would be reduced to maybe an hour per week, but I'd keep my storages empty and use gold/elixir on walls/other things.

So, if anyone accepts "my" kind of player, let me know. I'm friendly and responsible.

I really don't know what to upgrade when I get to TH4. I'll build that air defense first, then maybe take care of barracks?

I just joined, I'm going to request troops if that's fine with you.

The loot penalty only becomes active after th7. I strongly advise rushing to th7 and catching up from there. You should read Morgauth's thread on rushing. Also SinofDusk's

Just max your offense, and don't worry too much about defense for a while.

I've done it, and it's worked out very well. Really though, ignore all the negative stigma towards rushing.
Too many people on this forum discourage rushing when they haven't ever tried it. That really pisses me off because rushing is an extremely viable way of playing this game.
Just do some research about it and make your decision from there

SelfDesigns I really respect your opinion, and in other situations I would have rushed. It is true that currently my elixir and gold are sitting there unused because I maxed everything.
In hindsight I really should have upgraded my TH3 to TH4 a day sooner, as now I'm literally losing 30k-40k of each resource either through being attacked or through not being able to store them.

However the loot penalty really gets to me. That, and I'm pretty sure trophy pushing for the gems is easier if your TH isn't too high.

Also, design does matter, even at low TH, and sadly the replay for this has expired but basically:
I was attacked by a TH4 with barch + some clan shield + two upped wall breakers. Aren't wall breakers supposed to die after breaking a wall? Because these ones FLEW over my defenses. Luckily the archer tower got one, but the other one happily took all my elixir despite having was seemed like 1HP left.

Also, I had NO CC troops to defend me at the time.


However, despite the 17 archers, 23 barbarians, clan shield and 2 wall breakers used, I got to keep all my gold.
So my base ain't so bad.

Most of the TH3 I see couldn't survive 17 archers and 23 barbarians level 1, let alone some kind of freaky airborne attack. So there's that.

The loot penalty really doesn't affect players until TH9, and it's only implemented at TH8. You can rush to TH7 and thrive, just as long as you do it correctly and follow Morgauth's guide. Almost all bases at your level will be 3* by other players that are too high level to be camping in bronze league. That's just something that happens to lower townhall players.

I think what you described about the wallbreakers would be a group of wall breakers being deployed into a section of your wall. Once one of the wallbreakers blew up, the other two were still alive, and the explosion made it seem like they were flying.

For future reference, the clan shield is also called the Clan Castle, and your CC can hold more and more troops as you level up. It helps tremendously in both defending and attacking.

Trophy pushing to 1250 trophies for the achievement and dropping back down should be easy for any late TH3 and above. The higher townhall you are doesn't make a difference in pushing, except that you get higher level troops each time.

Players at Silver 1 (where you're trying to push to) range from inactive premature bases to maxed out townhall 8 bases. That's the same with every league in clash and everyone gets smashed sometime during their stay.

Actually I watched the replay and believe it or not, I was attacked by balloons (level 2) from a TH4. I learned that balloons contain wall breakers, so I wasn't dreaming, I did see wall breakers.

I guess someone cared enough about my 20K loot out there to unleash two of them. Why they spent 6.5k elixir in troops to get 12k elixir and not even the gold is beyond me, but I guessed I just happened to find a really persistent attacker.

I accidentally got to bronze league 3 a few minutes ago. I've logged off now as it's late where I live. I know I'll go down, but I see it's not easy to maintain your trophies even at bronze league.

Does anyone of you have tips to trophy push? Right now even if I had many hours to play I don't think I'd be able to. I lack the right methods I guess.

Also about the penalty: it is clearly written on my town hall that I will get a penalty in loot if I go up.

That being said, I agree that going up in trophies might be a good idea to find decent loot. I've hit a few really good bases tonight which just don't exist at 200 or below.

First, some questions:
- What are the very first things I should upgrade at TH4? Maybe CC since I sometimes get troops? Or something else? Actually I've upgraded both army camps overnight.

- Approximately how much time (in hours) does it take to "push" to 1250 trophies and can I do it in several days, even if I lose a few trophies to attacks?

- How useful are balloons? They're really expensive...

The thing is I don't always get shields when someone attacks me. Often they just want all my storage but for some reason they can't get to 50% to give me the shield. It's as if they IGNORE my town hall.
I know some people refuse to take out a town hall if the loot is too good. They hope to attack the person who has the loot out several times by not getting to 50%.

Overnight I got attacked 4 times. I'm happy because I didn't lose that many resources and I got 34 trophies but that's not what I was looking for. And yes someone eventually got the town hall.

I put my town hall outside to get a shield but the archer tower was still defending it partly.
My reasoning is this: if they're going to release 60 troops on my town hall, I'll let them have it BUT I'd better shoot at them just a little from a distance. There are spots around my town hall that they can use to snipe. I just don't want 60 troops running at my puny walls after having taken the town hall.

Sadly it seems that people at bronze league really want both the loot and the trophies. Someone even went to the trouble of releasing minions. Frankly after seeing last night's replays, I don't know.

I'll be super busy for the next two months so I probably shouldn't rush. Also, I love my TH4. My defenses are already pretty good (did a ton of walls). However I haven't upgraded anything else, so I'm doing it right now.
