Hello there everyone,
In this thread, I will try to gather as many tips on maxing TH9 and mix them all together to make a guide out of them. Everyone who dedicated to this thread will be credited in the guide.
All you have to do in this thread is pointing out a tip or two on any topic about farming to a max TH9 base. You can place out literally anything that comes to your mind, preparing, attacking, trophy ranges, upgrade orders and literally anything that pops up to your mind.
Make a small detailed post. Include some tips and a bit of information on it. Place everything that you brainstorm here and feel free to explain about them later.
If you have any guides that you think may be valuable in helping to create my guide, please point them out. Just please place guides that are not outdated (Latest update before the last Christmas update is called an outdated guide by me) and guides that are very well detailed.
Some Of the Most Detailed Tips Until Now:
Quote:
1) Doing walls in between defenses is a must unless you plan to have idle builders by the end of TH9
2) Having weak defenses but strong walls is a good enough deterrent that nobody will attack you anymore (average 400k each lost per week at gold 1-2)
3) Start on heroes ASAP, having both down is the best but may be hard for most people.
4) Rushing to TH9 ensures that you max TH9 faster than anyone who maxes TH8. You have other buildings to occupy you when you do heroes, your idle lab time would be shorter if you plan to fully max, you start accruing DE earlier.
Can't think of anything else, you add on stuff when I think of it
Quote:
Tip one: focus on heroes early. Heroes take the longest time and doing heroes only at the end of TH9 is dead boring!
Tip two: if you are a really active player always keep a builder free for walls. This way I did max skulls and max legoes way before defenses.
Tip three: stay away from higher leagues. TH9's have no business there (I used to hang around Gold II to CIII)
My prefered army: giwibarch (16 giants, 8 wb's, 4 wiz, 8 gobs rest barch). Backed by a hero that army does miracles :)
Quote:
For my heroes I used gibarch in CI :)
CII might have a good mix between DE & gold/lix so you can do both walls and heroes.
Another tip I forgot to mention: stay TH9 as long as possible because loot at TH10 is far worse than people tell you.
Only people who seem to be happy with loot are the casual raiders who only attack every 2 hours or people doing barchraids in Masters and plus purely for the bonus.
Quote:
- Recommended to max TH8 included the walls before upgrading to TH9. It does helped smoothing your early TH9 journey a lot
- Concentrate on building additional new buildings in the early TH9 such as new defense buildings. Upgrade lab, spell factory and camps on this moment. Maxed the new defensive buildings to at least MAX TH8 level. During this part, upgrade walls to legos as much as possible between any upgrades. Farm around gold leagues by barching/BAM. Less expense, more income
- After finished the 2nd step, spare a builder to focus on lava walls, a builder for heroes and the rest to maxed TH9 defensive buildings.
With this methods of mine, you can check my base progress and fyi I have just hitted TH9 for 2 months and 5 days :)

For the casual players who attack twice or three times every now and then:
-max all collectors, drills and mines.
-be sure to have a farming base to attract TH snipers
-ride shield as much as you can then raid 2-3x when shield is almost gone
-suggested leagues is from gold 1-3 so you can avoid zappers.
-raid with barch with some wb so you can raid both inactives and bases with deep storages.
-If you go to war, do not take loot on your CC. Think of it as another storage. Take loot only when you are short on elix/gold/DE
-build all new buildings/def towers and bring them to TH8 levels
-mainly focus on upgrading your offense first (army camp, lab, lab upgrades, spell factory, heroes and CC)
-Upgrade the most expensive defense first as much as you can, other defenses will be a breeze afterwards.
Been doing this since I started TH9 and I did not max TH8. :D

Break a shield when:
1) you have time to do at least 3 consecutive raids
2) the shield cannot last and will end in a period where you're busy or sleeping (break it before you're busy/sleeping)
The following applies if you are a hardcore farmer (the only type of player who can efficiently max TH9)
About walls, do walls while upgrading defenses. Half to full lego is a desirable stage to reach if you found skulls difficult. If you completed skulls in 3-4 weeks (like me), then hopefully you'll finish lavas before heroes and defenses, which puts you in a situation where it is optimal to rush to TH10 before lab, defenses and heroes complete. Because if you found 1bil loot easy to farm as a TH9, there isn't anything much stopping you from farming a mere 400mil to max both TH9 and TH10 defenses as a TH10 while maxing zaps.
After all core offensive upgrades are done, this is the best builder composition for me:
1) Hero
2) Hero (best), defenses (2nd best)
3) Gold Mine
4) Elixir pump
5) Walls
The most important point to note is, defenses do not generate loot, so it is almost pointless to upgrade them in the farming aspect of the game. The best "defense" is actually having no loot and Th outside. Since one builder would be doing walls, you will never have enough loot to be raided, so defenses are pointless. Defenses are done after collectors, because collectors actually generate loot. This is only assuming you can farm well enough, ie. at least 3-4mil each per day and hopefully 20-30k DE
Wall strategy:
DO NOT finish legos then start lavas. Start lavas after you have 100-150 legos, then only do legos when you don't have enough resources for lavas. This leaves easy resource dumps so that you never have more than 1mil of any resource when you log off. You only have loot when you are saving for a defensive upgrade, which should not be too common if following my upgrade strategy.
Quote:
Max the following:
1) gold and elixir storages (able to store 6mil each)
2) DE storage, DE drills, at least one DE barracks (if you war)
3) barch troops and loons if you war; optional troops include any combination of giants, goblins, wizards, minions/hogs; for spells maybe heal and/or rage
4) preferably maxed splash, but not necessary
5) hopefully lvl7 walls with 30-50 skulls is sufficient

I want to point out the strategy for maxing a TH9 if you are a hardcore farmer must be different.
I did some serious number crunching with my current progression and came up with the following results:
With my current playtime (averages here) I do around 900-1200 attacks won per season (I have a lot of free time, yes). I average around 125-250k per raid using barch. Yes I boost my barracks and factory.
Using the aforementioned numbers as a baseline, I deduced the following:
1. At my current farming rate I will finish lavas in about 65 days.
2. With three builders on structures, I will fully max everything at TH9 in 90 days.
3. If I get both my heroes to 20 (currently at 12 each), with one builder it will take 110 days.
Thus, most efficient way to use builders is one free for lavas, three on buildings, and one on heroes.
Originally I wanted to get my heroes max'd to 30, but with hardcore farming I will have fully max'd my base long before this would be possible, resulting in an enormous waste of gold and elixir. I considered having two builders on heroes for this reason, but then my structures would be very behind, and I would have full lavas for a long time, with nothing to spend gold/elixir on (assuming I do not want to gem build time completions).
Again, this is what the plan I came up with for me personally, an early TH9 with full legos and lots of available free time to farm. I am betting I will finish lavas in the next two months and simply move on to TH10 despite not having max'd buildings or heroes, but the alternative is spending weeks (possibly months) at TH9 with full gold/elixir would seem to be a massive waste of my time and energy, for nothing more other than to be 'not rushed' and to prevent a 'loot penalty' which really does not effect me as a hardcore farmer.
Would like to know any others' opinions on this strategy as a hardcore farmer.
Regards,

If you are in a heavy war clan, i.e. 2-3 wars per week. I would suggest not building x-bows straight away, especially not maxing them. This should be your final defence structure. This is due to the weight they carry in war matchmaking.
Once your troops are upgraded enough to laugh at the x-bows that's when you should be upgrading them. They are more of an intimidation factor for the base. A lot like high lvl walls. If the right army comes a long, they both don't matter much. With each upgrade of x-bows you will notice a drastic change in your war ranking amongst your fellow clan mates.

So here's my current base to show I have a small idea of what I'm talking about. Not a whole but a little.
Upon reaching th9, if you haven't already, you need to decide if you're serious about war or farming. Not that you can't do both but it helps to prioritize your upgrades depending on which you choose.
For farming-
-upgrade xbows to max asap. These will help deter people from attacking your base and help protect your loot from those who decide to attack
-upgrade your farming troops. BAM,BARCH,GIBARCH.... Etc
-throw your new defenses in the board level them up to th8 levels.
-level up defenses as you see fit. Some say splash, some say point. Decision is yours.
For warring-
-do not drop any defenses.
-decide if your going to be a hogger or a laloon. Upgrade troops as you see fit.
-after war troops are upgraded, upgrade farming troops
-upon maxing troops and spells you use, upgrade xbows once you can 3 star the appropriate base with those defenses. IE if you can 3 star bases with lvl 2 xbows but not 3, don't upgrade your xbows past 2
For both-
-Drop AQ
-Upgrade lab
-Upgrade Spell Factory
-Upgrade CC
-Upgrade army camps
Good luck in your th9 journey. As a last bit of advice, don't fall behind on upgrading your heroes. There are 50 levels of heroe upgrades. They are great leveled up so get them there as quick as possible.

Doing walls later, ie. after defenses will usually leave you with idle builders and you just farming walls. You spent gems to buy builders right? So there is little point of having them idle except in TH9/10. Even then, if you manage your builders wisely then you shall have little idle builder time in TH9.
The following is true for a hardcore farmer:
When you maxed your walls before your defenses, it indicates that your farming capacity is much higher than normal. In my own experience, I maxed my purple walls in TH7 within 2 weeks farming more than 2mil per day. After maxing walls, I had nothing to do with my loot, so my loot per day dropped to a mere 200k per day, a WHOPPING 90% reduction, because I could not spent it. Hence, my TH7 was miserable.
At TH8, I wised up and farmed 3mil per day to max walls asap then rush to TH9 and start doing legos and lavas. If I had maxed TH8, my loot per day would drop from 3mil/day to 600k/day, another huge 80% decrease. Now with lavas occupying me, I can farm 5mil each per day and have somewhere to spend all that loot.
Point is, if you can farm walls before defenses, there is nothing stopping you from rushing to the next TH. There is no point enjoying "better" loot if you have no use for the loot. And if you're not hardcore, its still wise to dump all your gold into walls before logging off so that you have nothing to steal and you would not need such a long grinding to complete walls at the end of the TH

My tip. First of all, upgarde all troops related building like: spell factory, laboratory, army camps because they will help you in your attacks.
It preferable to have 6 million gold, 6 million elixir and 40k Dark Elixir to be able to get the queen, 2 xbows, upgrade the spell factory, the laboratory and make a couple of raids and upgrade an army camp instantly.
After that, start focusing on elixir to upgarde your troops esp the ones you use.
You can upgarde your farming troops and move to upgrading defenses.
Put your new defenses and upgarde them to the max level for town hall 8.
At this point, decide weather you wanna start off upgrading walls to level 9 or you are going to leave to the end.
If you are going to leave them to the end, do the following but if you going to upgarde them, do the following after upgrading them. (Make sure not leave any resources for anyone)
Start upgarding splash damage defenses like mortars and wizard towers. Move to air and ground defenses like archer towers, hidden teslas and xbows. Then air or ground defenses like cannons and air defenses.
When you finish upgarding all your defenses start with level 9 walls if you didn't and if you did start with level 10 walls.
this is my plan
Quote:
- Max walls at TH8
- Work on Army camps, spell factory, lab, CC, AQ and "fast and cheap" new defences at the start of TH9.
- Work on getting your new walls to at least skulls before starting on xbows (this gives you plenty of gold at the start to dump into walls, then when your camps, spell fact and other costly elixir based upgrades are done you can dump elixir into level 9 walls.)
- Start on heroes and keep them upgrading continuously during TH9 (they are the biggest bottleneck for maxing TH9)
- Work on walls while working on other upgrades (second biggest bottleneck depending on how fast you can accumulate gold and elixir)
- Work on Dark troops ASAP otherwise you won't be able to farm enough DE to keep both heroes and the lab going towards the end of TH9
- Most importantly learn to farm without heroes, If you plan on maxing TH9 fast you will need both heroes on constant upgrade for the most part.

new th9 here(max skulls, few legos & lavas & th7 defences ;) ).here are my suggestions ,some might be repeated.
1.max camps followed by storages(de included) first after basic upgrades like lab xbows are done.
2.Dont stick to a league.keep changing it.anything between 1200-2200 works(im farming lavas at s1 atm).if you cant stay online for long hours then lower gold leagues are good enough.
3.Dont save loot, empty them on walls whenever you can,its mostly cheap gold upgrades at first.
4.always go for the big-stat-increase troops in lab first like loons giants etc.giants preferred, gibarch does wonders.Lvl5 barchers are good enough to empty most bases,so dont be in a hurry to max them.
5.get the queen to 5 asap.it doesnt take too many days, start from th9 day one.
6.Dont use spells unnecessarily.elix is scarce for a new th9(one of the reason why im done at s1)
7.maxing de drill quick should be a priority.
8.dont go maxing xbows if you concentrating on defence.seriously compare the stats, teslas are the best:smirk:
9.if you are a hardcore farmer, then take the new walls to 7 atleast & use them for labyriths or for funneling.take the core walls to lego first.then start farming for second layer & max it..go on...go on...
These tips are mainly for a new th9 from my experiences till now:).
.
Quote:
1) Storages (can store 6mil)
2) DE drill and storage
3) (for war) at least one Dark barracks
4) preferably maxed splash
5) all lvl 7 walls
6) BK lvl 5 (preferably lvl 10)
Lab work:
Compulsory: Barb, Archer, (for war) loons
Optional: (any of the following, can be all, can be none) Giants, goblins, WB, Wiz, Rage, Heal, Minions/Hogs (either one DE troops if the person finds DE overflowing)
The key at TH8, is to find the right balancing point of moving forward and staying behind. Moving too quickly and you may experience some culture shock. Moving too late negates a lot of the advantages of rushing early. Around 20-45 days in Th8 is ideal to max essential structures and necessary troops (including the TH upgrade time)
Quote:
I'm a near maxed TH9. IMHO for very active players (200+ attacks per season) rushing to TH9 is the best choice.
TH9 will forever always be the best place to stay because you have plenty of work at TH9 : heroes to 30, a lot of walls.
First upgrade should always be prioritized into offense, dump all your gold into walls, don't worry about your defense first except your first 2 XBows. Worry about your camp and troops first.
Why? Because a level 7 wizard tower will not make much of a difference when facing against TH10. Neither does air defenses or mortars. XBows are good for 'intimidating' factor. Your league should be around G2, don't even think about C3 yet.
In terms of troops the first troops you should max is barbarians, archers, and then giants.
There is a lot of DE farming tutorial on the forum, Unity's thread is one of the best i can think of. As soon as you get level 6 giants start raiding TH8 for the DE. Whenever you hit 75% of the storage cap and your heroes is upgrading, stop farming for DE and farm for abandoned bases instead.
That's all i can think of TH9. Peace out.

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for, but some war tips at TH9 (The focus on your upgrades, farming vs wars, will depend on your clans priorities):
- Ensure you have your Loons, Hogs, Witches, LHs and Giants maxed for your best War troops. Also don't neglect your spells. When you have time upgrade your Golems, they will be a big part of wars as well.
- Having a cc with 30 space opens a lot more attacks up.
- Try to have a bread and butter focus (i.e. Air attack, LaLoon or Ground Attack, Hog variations), but don't pigeon hole yourself. Understand a few different styles.
- Learn to recognize the weakness in the bases. No matter what an enemy does, there is a weakness there.
- Shift your focus away from TH8/TH9 war attacks and more towards attacks that will transition into TH10 attacks. Dragons are gone, sorry.
- Straight up GoWiWi and GoWiPe are 2 star strategies. Clan Wars are not won on 2 starring TH9 bases.
- Make a plan for each member of your army. There should be a reason why you brought that troop.
- Learn war attacks that can work with or without your heroes. If you are in a full time war clan, this will become reality at some point, unless you want to sit out.
- Build your army for the target, don't fit a target into a set army. There are base attacks, but they may require some tweaking depending on the base you are attacking.
- Watch all replays, not only from your own clan, but the enemy clan as well. You can learn a lot from both victories and defeats. You may be able to help the clan member as well with something they are doing wrong, if you are in a leader like position which a lot of TH9s are for lower lvl players.
- Use or suggest use of a third party website like www.clashcaller.com or war caller. They have aids that are not possible in clan chat. You can call targets and make notes about the base.
- Follow great war attack youtubers like OneHive Raids, OneHiveLabs, Hulk Files, Clash with Dart, Knightly Gaming, Moskri Clashheads, Reddit Force Chronicles, etc. They have a wealth of knowledge on great war attacks. (I know I'm forgetting some people but you get the idea)
Ok, I may add more to this if I think of things, but that's good for now.

Maybe not a main TH9 tip, but more of a personal preference.
I have come to the conclusion that I would prefer one beastly Hero as opposed to 2 20 yo heroes. My current focus is maxing AQ after which I will head to TH10 and continue the push for max AQ. Once all that is completed I will then forge ahead with BK. With AQ40 it will be a breeze picking up the extra DE needed to keep king asleep constantly.
Quote:
Another tip i've seen before which is pretty logical, is to upgrade your heroes in increments of 5, evening out their levels.
So, you get to TH9, all of your DE goes into the queen until she is level 15
then get your BK 10->15
then get your AQ 15->20
then BK 15->20
then AQ 20->25 and so on
easier said than done though

PHASE 1
Once u have all lvl7 walls and 1/4th lvl8 walls upgrade TH8 to 9.
Once u reach TH9 build all the new structures and start lab and camp upgrade asap.
Once lab is done do the following .
Archer->barb->minions->loons->giants->whatever u use in war.
Start working on defenses and get AQ to lvl5 asap.
As soon as AQ is lvl5 , i guess most of ur elixir upgrades will be done.
PHASE 2
Switch from using barch to using giants/healer to take on weak TH8s in law crystal2.
U can easily make like 30k DE and 2mil gold per day to keep DE lab upgrades, and both heroes going (time the heroes).
Thats the comp.-
28 barbs/76 archers/18 giants/6 wbs/1 healer.
with 1 light/1 heal/2 rage.
Note: lightning is for the sole purpose of getting the last few %.
Dont forget to lure and kill CC.
This strat is only for gathering DE frm TH8s. It will be almost useless against a nicely maxed TH9.
PHASE 3
By now u will have most of ur defense maxes and both heroes around lvl 12-15.
Now go to c1/m3 to farm exclusive DE with either balloonian(24loons/50mins) or barch . U can make like 60-70k DE per day (unboosted)
Also dump all the extr elixir into lvl9 walls. They can be easy if started early.
THE END
This has helped me so far. I hope it helps u out too

i recomend that you completely max all elixer/army related upgrades at town hall 8 then move up to town hall 9(doing gold upgrades as you go) once at townhall 9 i recomend:
dark elixer: queen as high as you can then any drak troops you use upgrade(recomend minions to help in BAM) then king to a similar level as the queen
elixer: lab,all lab upgrades (recomend upgradeing your barch army) then drills (maybe between lab upgrades)
gold: if you didnt max your defences for town hall 8 start on those, after that X-bows are very important try and get both to level three(very intimitating) then walls.
hope this helps!:p
Thank you for your time and I hope you can help,
