Trapping your th is a th outside base makes no sense. !!

First off , clash how you want... So if you see a reason to trap a th that is way outside your base , go for it ... I just don't see the logic . Consider that with respect to the townhall there are really only two types of bases

1. Townhall protected ... Townhall is within range of visible defences ... And here I include all forms of teaser bases where the th might be outside of walls but still defended

2. A true th outside base where none of the visible defences can assist the th at all.

the logic of the th outside base is pretty clear .. The owner doesn't care about trophies so much and is willing to surrender the victory . This easy victory is available to any attacker ... Including the incredibly weak and can grant the defender a shield before a strong attacker comes by the loot the base of everything...

Trapping the lonely th just increases the attackers cost for the victory.. So other than the giggles of putting them to added expense , is of no benefit to the defender.

But there are disadvantages to the defender. Consider the mindset of a typical attacker . When raiding, I typically have a full army . I don't " next" to find townhall snipes but will accept any offered for the loot win bonus ... This might be a snipe alone or as part of a full Attack on the base if the loot and prospects are adequate . Consider each scenario

... If I have decided on a full Attack, trapping the th is pretty useless .. It just removes defences from the loot I am really after

if I decided the loot was not worth it , I will drop my exploratory single archer on the th ... .. Some traps are revealed .. I will now do one of three things

1. Surrender ... My assessment was your base wasn't worth raiding . You have cost me an archer ... I move on . Defender could have gotten a shield but now might instead get a full blown looting Attack

2. revise my assessment ... With traps out there ... Base is worthwhile . May drop a couple more scouts before you face a full looting Attack ... Attacks are way easier if the traps are out by the th

3. Sometimes just decides to cost the defender. Trapping the th seems a petty move designed just to cost me resources so I can and will sometimes be just as petty in return... So maybe I just trigger and kill you cc troops .... Depends how petty I am feeling ...


bottom toms line is that the only reason I can fathom to trap the th outside is just to cost snipers more resources . On the other side is the greater base vulnerability to looting and the greater likelihood that one will face a full looting attack as the defender has rejected the idea of a free shield in return of allowing someone an easy victory .

But as I say ... Clash as YOU want . But don't be shocked if an opponent decides to loot you to 39percent and then suddenly surrenders... In fact , if you are a th Trapper , you should applaud that move .

Most people I know that trap there TH is for the Unbreakable achievement. If for some reason I have very little loot, which is rare, I will trap my TH to try to get some successful defenses, it works less than half the time, but as I almost always have an unprotected TH on my farming base, it is really the only chance I get to defend.

The other reason I know is the theory that they will waste more troops taking the TH and have less to raid your base with. I have tried this, and I was surprised at the number of people that will use massive amounts of troops to take it. I found this actually worked often, but anyone with any since will just leave it alone and just raid you, take a good chunk of loot and may not give you a shield and you get raided again.

yea true that....and it just makes the attacker angry........and when i see people like this...i just take their loot instead of th.

I never noticed a trapped TH until I got to masters 2. But that may also be because I never looked for snipes in the lower levels. Then they started to pop up everywhere. My thought is that someone is hoping that a low level sniper trying to get to champion may not have the troop strength to get past it and will give up some free trophies.

And this is the reason when ever I come across a base I want to attack and I see the town hall outside, I never attack it. I just go for the loot. Always make the 1 star so I do not loose trophies. It also makes me smile when after sometime I see the teslas pop next to the TH away from my army. At that time I know traps are there too and I am getting all the loot :)

Attacking trapped townhalls is especially fun and rewarding...

Drop an archer. If trapped, waste hidden bombs and cc troops, loot as much as one can until 39% damage...leave before shield given. The next will take the loot and they'll lose more than looting by one attack.

I try to snipe your townhall only to find it's trapped? Here's what will happen:

-I kill your hero(es) so they'll be sleeping for a while

-I lure and kill your CC so you'll have to re-request

-I'll zap your DE

-I'll take as many resources as I can and leave at 39%



Come on guys, don't trap your townhall. It's just bad manners

I have mine trapped when I'm doing walls. No resources to take, so go ahead and 100% my base, maxed TH 9 minus walls so that army is going to cost way more than anything you can take from my dinky storages. If I'm saving for an upgrade, I put the teslas elsewhere. I've got no reason for this other than I find it a little funny.

I've done the same while in C1/M3 farming for DE with balloonion. Helped me stay up in trophies and it's funny to see TH7 with low level troops trying to TH snipe their way to Master 3 LOL

I farm in C1-M3 too.... when I see an exposed TH, trapped or not.. I'll go for 2-3 stars. If ppl wasted telsas surrounding TH, that is an easy 2 stars ;
- if use loonion, only need 4-6 loons & few minions to destroy all 4 max teslas.
- if barching (lv7), only takes 10-30 barbs and 10-30 archers to destroy all the teslas and TH.

Conclusion: Better let th7 snipe you for 1 star than th9-10 raid you.

If you want to try to 2 star me for 2500 DE, go for it :D You won't get gold/elixir because they are all dumped into walls.

Usually if a TH7 fails, I get lets say +24 trophies. Then comes along someone stronger and he snipes my TH after destroying the traps for -4 trophies. In the end, I'm +20 trophies with a 12 hour shield.

It is true it's part of the game so I won't complain about it because frankly The worse thing that could happen if the base is too strong, I lose some trophies, big woop. But 99/100 times I get more resources and even a star.
in any case, trapping a snipe th defies the purpose of snipe... That's the "problem" with this tactics.

My town hall is outside, but there are all 4 of my level 7 teslas beside it, with no other traps or defences in range. The reasons for this are:
1. Occasionally I will win the defence, and a few extra trophies when farming in Crystal I are always welcome
2. If they were going to attack the rest of my base after my town hall, they now have less troops to do so as they have wasted usually about 1/4 of their army or their heroes getting through my teslas.
3. Teslas cost me nothing, no matter what happens. Rigging with traps, xbows and the clan castle as well would be more effective but would cost extra gold and/or elixir to maintain. I even technically make a small profit from gravestones!
4. It puts me closer to the Unbreakable achievement, it may seem far away (I have about 600/5000) but hopefully I'll get it eventually!
5. It's fun to watch people throw a whole bunch of their stuff at my base, all for a few trophies!

yea trapping th makes no sense, but is great fun :D

Yesterday found a trapped TH, base has 400k combined resources and almost 1k DE (I skip mid-to-max TH9 with Xbows up as that means needing at least 2-4 spells to get the loot and probably not all of them in good layouts), but a TH outside are always welcome.

Send a minion to start hitting, nothing happened (I use to test for hidden teslas), put king on play, teslas appeared, use iron first, big bombs and more tesla appeared and fried my king.

Start attack on the opposite side, used 2 rages and one heal and last survivor loons died near TH by tesla and a 4 red mines.

Putting TH trapped meant 400k resources lost, 1k DE, 100-150k more resources reloading traps and bows and 16-hour shield.
Putting TH untrapped will mean a free 12h shield for the player.

But agree that doing that when you have nothing to loose is real fun and seeing heroes damaged or some of them dead it's fun :)
