Do Lava Hounds Not Trigger Seeking Air Mines?

First off, this thread is not meant to bash or hate on Lava Hounds.

With that said, in my last war I defended against a Lavaloonian attack. Now prior to that attack I have always placed my seeking air mines and my air mines as close to my air defenses as strategically possible as I believe they are the best way to defend against a Lava Hound based attack. I made sure that the air defense falls inside trigger radius of the air mines as you can see below:

The Lava Hound, as always, shuttled almost directly over the air defense as seen here:

Even if you look at the position of the Hound's shadow underneath it, it is still within the trigger radius of the seeking air mine and also the regular air mines but they did not go off. It wasn't until the Balloons reached the trigger radius when the mines went off as seen here:

Has this happened to anyone else? Do I have to stick the mines right directly to the side of the air defenses? Is there something that's missing?

I think they have to be even closer to the AD. Just like the cc line, it's really like a tile inside the line that defines the trigger range. So I think your pictures show the edge case and it isn't enough to trigger the seeking air mine.

The Balloons weren't any closer than the Lava Hounds were though. If anything, they look like they are further away and they still trigger it.

the balloon that trigger it died. There is a "ghost" deeper inside the circle. I think that's the one that trigger the mines.

You're right. Upon further review it is a pup that triggered it if you see below:

However, I don't think this resolves the question. I'll move the mines closer but I would think if the unit breaks the plain of the trigger radius by any means the mine should go off.

I don't know Lannister. It seems this is just another AI issue that has yet to be resolved. The picture below I posted from my OP happened instantly after the pup died and you can see the mine clearly re-targeted the Balloon closest to it:

I can't tell for sure for this attack, but I verified in my war last replay our n°1 took such an attack, and the lava hound triggered for sure all sorts of air traps, including seeking mines, skeleton traps, and air bombs (as usual).

I saw something similar.

the air mine (black) went directly to the loon, and not the lava.
