Personally I like to design my own base. But I come across so many players that say they either not good at it or dont have a clue as to whats a good design. So maybe put in a random base generator to help them out. So they not forced to copy a base that over a 1000 ppl copied already.
Not good. Why not have an automatic Attack button too? Then you won't ever have to do anything in the game.

it's a strategy game for a reason, people just have to learn, i did through trial and error but no base is perfect, this is a skill you develop just like a gowiwi attack or a lavaloonian / hybrid attack, it is something there to practice and experiment with not to become a thoughtless automaton.
