Unless I didn't get the memo, and it already exists, it would be good if a wiki site was maintained, with common ideas, ruled out or otherwise, are posted in an easy to reference spot. Quoting 'the sticky thread' that has the ruled out ideas is getting kind of tiresome, and direct links to more than just some short phrase and basicly saying "and that's the way it is" or retyping the whole reason from memory would be great.
Is it really that hard to click on a title of a sticky? Its harder then typing out the wiki link
I don't think this is nessecary IMO especially if it is only for a specific sub-forum.
Until you 'pull your weight' around here and be a self appointed forum police officer as well, you might eventually like the idea of posting one link to a page full of relevant details than paste one line from a sticky thread, and with retyped info from memory if you are feeling nice. Unless you honestly think you are doing others a service by only saying 'reads da stickyz duud' and hit them with a link to a TL-DR mess of info, and expect them to take you seriously. :rolleyes: Obviously you posted a few times on the forum, so I'm surprised someone like you is even suggesting that.Quote:

There are hundreds of ideas on this one subforum, and wiki sites have been made for things with 1/100th the amount of info you can find here. Part of the wiki page has a discussion section for each page, so members can hammer out what facts and figures to put into it. And if you are are thinking this subforum is still too small or whatever for you, just add in the rest of the subforums or something. Anyway, this is an awesome idea. I know someone was maintaining a guide to ruled-out ideas, and there was some decent info in there. But it's just so big and hard to direct people to the right spot. Also, I think he stopped maintaining it.
So yeah, awesome idea. Not sure how it would be maintained, as some topics have somewhat of a consensus among veteran players (zapping comes to mind), while other topics are still pretty controversial (like TH9+ players who don't see OP dragons at TH7 as a problem worth fixing, when a number of simple fixes could be made).
It would require more than one person to do, obviously; but there are some dedicated info-philes that would likely love to maintain it.
So what if there is a consensus or not, post what is known. The purpose is to get people up to speed without having to constantly repeat things. If one group says one thing, another group says another, post it...
This should also contain the guide to how to be a manager of a clan. I am saying this because of the cr5op of ideas that have shown up in the past 12 hours. most of them are from guys that are inept at leading a team and rather than figure it out they are seeking for either SC to start automating clan management so they don't have to do it, or they are seeking more power so they can take the control freak/micromanager approach byt doing for theor members the things they cant get the members to do themselves.
A lot of guys (mostly kids I will admit) think it would be really cool to be leader. They think that once they are the man with the power everyone will fear and admire them for that power and so of course everything will run they way they say. Then it doesn't happen and they don't know what to do.
I think that a good leadership guide should teach these guys what management really is and explain exactly what sort of things they will be called upon to do as leader. They should learn how to set expectation and hold people accountable. they should learn how to have people follow them because they WANT TO not because they fear that persona power. They have to learn how to be firm and consistent so everyone always knows what to do and what will happen if folks don't follow through. They need to know how to coach and build a guy that struggles. And they need to learn to make the hard decisions in the cases where someone is not working out.
This is not all leaders, there are many out there that know all these things quite well. You can find some of them al compiled in a neat little list on the Top Clans tab. But there are also many that do not understand how to lead. You can find them all here on the forum asking for features that would cover for their deficiencies.
Anyhow, I have thought since this thread started that a true SC wiki would be a good idea. Sort of like http://clashofclans.wikia.com/wiki/Clash_of_Clans_Wiki but instead part of and sanctioned by SC and also containing materials from them directly. (Many things that folks have asked SC to elaborate on)
Yes, kind of a necro-bump, but better to pull this back up than to remake it.
I still think some forum of Wiki system for ideas would be good. Much of the workings on the wiki does have a discussion board, as well as access management, cross reference features, and flags and tags for the info cache to help manage the data.
I think it would also be good if the forum had some sort of auto-tagging system (I am pretty sure it is possible) that way pointless threads of ruled out ideas would be auto tagged and then deleted.Quote:

There are a flaws with your statement. It can't auto tag reliably, assuming if programed, given the nature of the written language and word usage. And it is kind of self defeating to tag and then delete. Tags are meant to help find something again after all. At best, you can auto tag/flag/report when key words show up, which would then have to be checked by a Mod before deleting.
