Make all traps and teslas only viewable by those in the war. If you aren't in the war, big deal. Now, anyone who joins cannot see the hidden stuff.

Sounds good to me doesn't seem like it would a complex add, I agree 👌
or don't let anyone in during war.
My clan wars twice a week, though with the new clan perk system, we'll be warring a little more than that. Instead of 4 wars every two weeks, it'll probably be 5.
Some clans war constantly, 3 times a week with one day off, sometimes back to back without any rest.
How should they balance recruiting with keeping spies out?
After I joined my current clan, I think we had spies in my first 4 or 5 wars. I used to think it was just normal. Haven't had any spies since then (couple dozen wars probably), so now I'm not really sure how common it is. But it seems like there's got to be a better solution than not recruiting during every war.
The OP's suggestion is pretty logical, and it's pretty simple. Sure, there will be a small downside, people in your clan who aren't in the war can't check your traps and offer advice. Maybe make it a setting that leaders and co's can control, if it's that big of a deal.
Why would you have to stop recruiting during war? That is silly, especially for the always warring clans. Making arbitrary rules that may hurt some when a simple solution would resolve 98% of cases.
Been thinking of maybe having a message in the clan profile to have people say a key word in those invites to prove they actually read it. Would be a good quality control check. But it won't of course stop smart spies.
I'm just miffed by the oversimplified answer of "lol close clan, (implied 'you fool') lol", since they miss the entire point of the argument and pretentiously pass it off as a useless suggestion.
Thankfully, Closed or not, you can actively invite people in, but that passive recruitment of people asking to join can be just as important. If you war constantly, and constantly have your clan closed because of some spy threat that may or may not happen, that just hurts you as a clan. I'm not so much against spying, as I am of people borderline exploiting the system, with only 'Close Clan' or 'Invite Only and hope no one in your large clan hits accept mistakenly', all because someone wants to circumvent the block in seeing traps and CC troops.
It is a simple fix, and all Supercell has to do is code in something to stop the wrong people from seeing stuff they aren't supposed to. They have the code, they know what authorization info is needed, they know what data can be checked. It isn't hard for the system to enforce. The fact that it is so ridiculously simple to code in there, from my understanding of computer programing, and yet have people be so ignorant (or stupid) to say "No (implied 'you moron') just close the clan", is just infuriating. If it wasn't for the fact that I knew that they actually meant it, which personally I think is sad in it's own right, I would swear they were trolling.
