I don't think calling operator error is good argument against it really because can't control other people's donation. Many people complained about not being able drop troops from cc and that got implemented.

The operator error is where he trains a large amount of troops for donations and nobody needs them. Here's how I deal with donations in my clan:
1. I ask for what I want in the message.
2. If I don't get it, then I drop the troops.
3. Everyone in my clan donates a standard defense that seems to work best. We are not simply asking for just Dragons or whatever.
4. The top 2 are the main donators (myself and someone else).
We don't have the problems he is experiencing. We communicate our needs to each other.
First comes the request "Dragon 3+ for war please!" A few minutes later, the message "Please guys, can someone give me a dragon? I don't have much time, I must do my attack ASAP." Finally comes the message "OK, just give me anything, so that I don't attack with an empty clan castle." All this time I want to help, except I am in one of my barching farming sessions, two of my barracks making archers and the other two barbarians: it is too much of a hassle to make a dragon, which will take half an hour anyway and my clan mate cannot wait that long. How easy would things be if there was a donation pool? This is just brilliant! Oh, and to prevent abuse: you can get from it no more troops than what you have donated to it in the first place.
There's definitely a disconnect between the process of requesting and donating (especially a high level troop). A clan mate just request a pekka, the time I trained a pekka (45 mins) the request was gone and so was he. What do I do with that pekka I wanted to donate to him?
I like this idea, it would help with people complaining about not getting what they want, because they can choose from the pool. Also, you can make it so that higher level clans have a larger pool. Hoppers could be a problem, but to help this a setting could be added where leaders choose what ranks can use the pool, so as in elder and above can use it, our maybe after you donate a certain amount to the pool it is opp opened to you. I'm looking forward to seeing this implemented
