To answer the OP: It's hard to determine time as it's predicated on gems spent boosting, luck spent nexting, and the ability of the attacker. Just make sure you farm over the max that can be stolen from you so you don't end a session in the red. Once you hit the 33,333 mark as a TH8 you will offer up the max (2,000) so once you hit that mark it won't matter if you have 33,333 or 55,000 as you've reached the cap. 6% of your total storage can be taken up until 2,000.

6 mil elixir is easy to get, just drop a few trophies and leave your town hall outside for the snipers and free shield. Attack a lot. 60k DE is a lot harder, but you can get it with the same method. I'm TH8 level 79 and I was up to 50k but decided to get hogs instead. Now sitting on 40k.
Make sure your defences are decent and and your walls are level 7 to deter attacks.

It's tough to target both resources at once as a TH 8. Here's what I would do:Quote:

- For the fastest method of making DE as a TH 8, you can boost your barracks (except de barrack). Use Barch with 8 Wall Breakers and your Barbarian King (boost his timer) and cook Rage Spells (boost factory). This will allow you to make DE fast by breaking into bases for DE storage. You can expect about 8000 DE per hour using this method.

Elixir should be easy to get. Almost all th8 bases have a decent amount. But looting 60k DE will take a few days and will be much harder to keep it safe. You will become a magnet for zappers and other th8 & th9 players looking for DE. I would suggest you go with pekka first. That's more important for a GoWiPe. Getting 60k while the pekka upgrades to lvl 3 should be easy.
The best tip I can offer for your sanity is this:
Figure out how much DE you can make in a single, solid boost session (not a super lucky, nor a super terrible one). Take that number, and subtract it from 60k.
That's your target maintenance value.
Get your 6M elixer first, and start your Pekka upgrade. For the first few days, just get whatever resources you need for any building upgrades you're looking to do, and let your DE accumulate naturally. With 8 days left, start focusing on DE. Shoot for the maintenance value.
Once you hit that, you should have a few days left before your lab is ready again. Now, go back to focusing on Gold/Elixer as needed for your other upgrades. Your goal is only to maintain that DE amount, so only try to focus on DE when someone steals some from you.
When your lab is ~2 hours from being ready, boost and farm the remainder of the DE required. Immediately use it.

for the Dark it is a bit tougher and will obviously take longer, but its much easier to acquire Dark in G1 or C3 or higher, but again you be liable for a bigger base cleaning you out.
the problem is the Defense aspect. especially for the Dark Elixir. once you get more than 25K the zappy happy and their ilk come out, as well as the TH9s with their L6 giants and Heal spells or Healers and that vicious vixen the AQ.
Best defense is to put that TH out away from defenses and hope a sniper comes to claim your TH before Rev or hungry vermin come sniffing around your base. the second best option is to do long sessions when you can, and out earn your max loss.. typically you stand to lose 350K Elixir after a clean out or 2K Dark elixir. so your goal for the first few raids are to recoup the evenings loss, then build from there.
I recently went to TH9. and had Pekkas upgraded to L3 already, but wanted to max my Hogs to L4 and have enough Dark to get the AQ right away, so essentially I needed 80K total but not in one tank so to speak
I did like Nyxigg suggested, and figured out how much I need to Earn a day till my TH finishes and made that my daily goal if you can get 5-7K, or 7-10K a day of the Dark stuff you wont lose that much everyday if you maintain good shield maintenance and out raid your losses. (I went to 9 to finish my Dark upgrades since the AQ, extra troops, spells and maxed drills will help acquire Dark far more efficiently, plus the toys to hold it better too)

When spending elixir for a proper army with spells that can reach cores (and boosted barrackses and spell factory), i was able to get 15,000 DE in 2 hours. I was farming in gold 2 area. I am TH8 wich i also presume you are by your numbers asked for.
I find it much harder and time consuming trying to get 6,000,000 elixir.
Actually, the 6 million elixir is surprisingly easy to get. Many inactives. The dark though, is a problem...
Any tips for 60k dark elixir, or even 40 or 50k dark elixir for those other upgrades?

Time to brake out the abacus:
If you need 6M elixir and can PROFIT (What you get minus expenses) 150k per raid, it would take you 40 raids to get this, so boosted, unboosted it is a matter of how you raid (what troops) those 40 times to see how long it takes.
If you can average 500 DE per raid, which isn't too hard at TH8 as you know sometimes you can get 2k+ on a raid. Don't be afraid to zap for DE....people like me hate when you do it, but come on, why not? So back to the point if you average 500 DE per raid thats 120 raids to get the 60k. Plus what you get from wars, which can be a nice little bump. The 120 raids makes sense though too when you think about how much you lose at a time once your up near 60k.
All and all the 6M for the Pekka is pretty easy you can do it in a couple nights if you boost twice or go ham for it and pull down the whole 6M in 4-5 hrs.
As a side note these are your first of many high ticket offensive purchases, they seem a little daunting, but rest assured it will take no time at all to save these chunks of loot soon enough, at TH9 everything costs about this much. Good luck out there!

My post from a year ago is invalid now, but I still am thriving as a TH8 in the new clash. and this is more of a part time acct. I War a lot and just raid when my spells/troops are done.
truth be told, its more about how much you can raid, and what army you use, and finally where you farm at.
on Def, nothing special, but Teslas are maxed and I have 20-30 Skull walls.. which helps when the Giants come and if they have used their heals prior to my core...
but its about the amount you can get under shields not necessarily keeping it.. you WILL lose it, but you can gain it back so fast it wont matter as much. IME
