Update unfair to small clans.

The only reason the 5A school will steamroll the smaller school is because they have more people to pick from, learn from, resources to train with, etc. The obvious weight/height/speed numbers being identical between players means didly squat.

Same size team hand picked from a larger group of people has the advantage over a static group of people almost every time.

If we use your analogy, then any world sports event is a totally unfair, because China and India can pick 1 athlete out of a 1 Billion population, where as most countries have less than 100 Million population. That includes Olympics, World Cup, etc etc...I wonder why China didn't win Worldcup yet.

You're getting way too technical on this too support your argument. "Skilled" clan members are a dime a dozen compared to World Cup winners. He is simply saying the family and friends clans is putting themselves at a disadvantage by saying this is who are clan will be comprised of and that's that. Where as another clan can boot poor players and look to replace with better players from the "free agent" pool.

It still doesn't make any sense. What do you expect SC to do scrap what was a widely popular update to cater to ten man clans refusing to grow? When you put together 10 skilled players from a pool of fifty what makes them any different from a clan with just 10 skilled players? There's no advantage other than they are better. Sounds like an excuse for a loss/losses.

EDIT Would you also consider a 14 man clan an unfair advantage?

My Friend, seem like we are on the same side.
I am for the opt in/out.
What I am saying is that the Opt in/out didn't make it disadvantage for smaller clan. reason because

1) Current war clans anyway kick out weaker/inactive/upgrading clashers
2) Or keep them in another farming clan. The only change is that the opt out, allows you to keep them in your main clan.
3) Bigger pool of players to choose from doesn't mean you are at an advantage, because you can have a big pool of family & friend who seldom war.

The difference is not all players are skilled. Most clans are a mix of good, average and learning players.

Assuming two clans are matched perfectly even in every level/TH/upgrade way that can be calculated, all you have left is player skill that decides a war. Since player skill can not be quantified SC makes no attempt to use it as part of matchmaking. Rightly so. To make the example easier to understand we will use a scale of 1-10 where 1 has the gaming skill of a toddler and 10 is somebody like Fatal1ty with 5 being an average person. We will also assume for the sake of simplicity that both the 10 person family clan and the 50 person clan are average with some pro's and some total newbs and everything inbetween.

The family then has 10 players with an even skill spread of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, & 10 for an average skill of 5 for the entire clan. Same as the 50 person clan, but they have five 1's, five 2's, five 3's, five, 4's, five 5's, five 6's, five 7's, five 8's, five 9's and five 10's . . . for an average skill of 5. Just like the family clan. What could possibly go wrong? The 50 person clan can put together a 10 man team with an average player skill of 9.5 which is not representative of the strength of the "clan" that is going to war. The little family clan can not.

Everybody will have their opinion regarding if it is right or wrong, ♥♥♥♥♥ing or whatever. I'm not debating that. Simply trying to explain what the OP was pointing out. While it was possible to do this before using boot/invite it is now incredibly easy to do this. It is being done and new complaints about mismatches are pouring in because of it. Perhaps SC doesn't care. Perhaps SC is facepalming in a conference room. Who knows. For now this is simply what we all get to deal with. Adapt and overcome.

I am in a small clan and so far so good for us with the new update.

This thread is a 5 page debate already. the update only came out a couple days ago. Is this maybe too quick to declare the end of civilization?

I'm not concerned about the end of civilization. Simply trying to explain the OP's concern and that it is a valid concern. 10 people hand selected from a pool of 50 have a much better chance of success than 10 people selected from a pool of 10.

Doesn't seem like anyone here is arguing opt in/out made this unfair. The matchmaking system remains the same as it was pre-update. That being said it still has the same flaws that it had before. This was always the issue that clans could alter there roster to create a mismatch. The opt in/out only make it extremely easier than it was before and likely to happen more for that reason.

'End of civilization' I will admit was dramatic. But that was the tone I was feeling when I read the entire 5 page thread. My point that this is a very fast declarations of problems (including the OPs post) for only 2 days out. Its almost like people were waiting to make these posts and arguments how fast they all came. (I will say again 5 pages for something only 2 days old)

Everything said here might or might not prove true. So far our experience is that it did not happen to us. Our first war out we are so far looking pretty good against a force selected from a considerably larger clan. But also that was happening even before the update (we have on multiple occasions faced clans that did this by folks going out and coming back in) so maybe its just that we still need to experience this problem. And also our sample is as small as everyone else's here. Its only been a couple days so I would love to hear who has more than one war's worth of experience under their belt to base all this on.
