Frustrating AI & Game Mechanics...

Right, this is off the bat after a frustratingly 1star attack in war..which should have been a 2, maybe even a 3 :p
Ive wanted to make a post about this since ive started playing, but always thought SC would sort it out. Its been 6 months now, an although these things do not happen EVERYTIME..they still linger...frustratingly!

1 - Triggering enemy CC troops?

Im getting really annoyed now with this, its happened the last THREE wars for me! Send in a giant, to trigger them..nothing happens. Send in my CC troops (with giants), which attack the SAME WALL..an they trigger?? Kinda defeats the object ya?

2 - Hero Building Targeting?

Do heroes attack nearest buildings? Well they should, an used to for me...on occasions now, I watch them run around the outside of the towns, even though Ive cleared ALL the buildings on the side ive deployed them! Surely they should be attackin the closer buildings infront of them, rather than running for 20secs, around 2 or 3 corners to attack a builders hut on the opposite side, ignoring all the juicy stuff in the middle..!

3 - AQ is the most frustrating unit!

6 Skeletons beating up your AQ, who doesnt notice them an gets killed! All whilst shes shooting a meaningless wall. Sound familiar? Can sometimes walk (literally) past a couple of turrets, to shoot buildings BEHIND them.

4 - WTH?!?!?

At the end of many attacks, sometimes dozens of units are left attacking meaningless walls, even though there are pathways around them. Wouldnt be so bad if they were all attacking the same wall, but as im sure, we have all seen them attacking walls next to each other..in a somewhat contest to see who gets killed first!

Thanks for a cracking update SC, an thanks for future ones! But please, also work on some of the basic AI that has frustrated many of us since we started playing ;) Or at least me :(

I recorded a video of this issue and will post it of i can. All my troops went inside the base then decided to turn away from the target thats 1 tile away to attack a wizzard tower completely outside of their range.

And dont even start on the "troops are only as smart as the player". You can clearly see it in the video how stupid it is.

Just had an attack where my BK was targeting a wall, and just before it was destroyed he switched targets to another wall that entered the same compartment.

What was frustrating was that my barbs and archers finished the wall that he was originally working on and he continued to working on the pointless new wall segment while being shot by a cannon that was originally out of range.

GRRRR hero AI is an issue for sure.

Watch the king. Wall broken, storages literally right in front of him and he leaves it for a elixor outside tje walls. Also the archer amd wiz with him does the same.

This video is just sad. Horrible AI.

My theory is: The opposition king lured your king/archers/wizards inside. After killing him, instead of recalculating a new target from their current location, they reselected their new target based on the location where they were lured from.

I don't think SC wants to fix these kinda bugs. I think they love to frustrate users and then see them heckled even more by their blind fanboys who just say and believe anything and everything in support of SC.

This is a brilliant game. SC was a great company. They made a great game and deserved all the money it brought along. But now, money is the only thing they care about. I know it is a business and not a charity, but the lengths they are going to force people to spend money is sad.

I hate loving this game. The AQ AI is reason enough not to play. Heading off to shop the App Store for something less annoying.

Yes mate, I understand exactly what your saying. I also find that heros tend to put themselves into a position, where defenses can reach them on purpose.

All these things have happened to me, on a fairly regular bases in the 6 months ive been playing. Well except the CC luring, which has only started in the past week or two.

Yes they still occur, after update.

But has ive said, its not ALL the time..just sometimes, an more frustratingly when it really matters (war, big loot etc).

This happened because the skellies pulled him away when they were on the other side of the wall near the wizard tower. That cause the kings path to change, then the skellies hopped over the wall and it almost caused the king to turn and go back again. notice the archers took the same path and they were attacking the skellies? this is what your king was attempting to do, but they hopped over the wall away from him.. by that time the other troops had them covered so he continued to the next closest object which was the elixir collector. Troops will always favor enemy cc troops and enemy skeleton traps.. this is intended.

There are two problem with this suggestion. King didnt go after the archer when he was at TH and instead of going down the same compartment the skeillies are in, it went all the way around. Even after they were on the giants, the king didnt go back and only paused for a moment. Either way, AI is jacked up. This only happened after the winter update. The last update before current was very noticable. Our entire clan got an average 57-60 stars on weak clans. We usually average 65 on evenly matched clans. They all noticed this change too.

King didn't go after the archer? Are you referring to the enemy cc troops? If so, he clearly went to the enemy cc archers immediately after the TH was destroyed. The King was already on the TH and it was almost destroyed and the archers were just starting to come into play. The TH went down, and then correctly as the behavior of the King's AI should (keep in mind there is a certain range involved) went straight to the enemy cc archers.. he passed several defenses and only attacked cc archers... at that time he was pulled away by the skeletons because they were at that moment on the far outside of the wall. "the king didnt go back and only paused for a moment" -- that is because the king chose a target (one of the skeles) but it was then destroyed, so he chose a new target. the other troops was killing off the skeles so he continued to the next closest unit the elixir storage.

I would recommend learning how the AI works so that you will become a better player rather than crying that the game is broken because you don't understand it.

I tried to help you by explaining exactly what was going on, but its still not clear to you.

Unfortunately the games AI isn't linked to your brain and doesn't operate under the same logic as you would if you had complete control over their targeting. Just because your brain and the game doesn't sync up doesn't mean the game is broken.

The first time I watched the video I saw the king run around to the outside and immediately thought, "some type of enemy troops pulled him".. and sure enough there was a group of skeletons.. the reason I immediately thought this without paying much attention was because i understand how the game works.

You are totally correct ;)

BUT

Just because some skeletons triggered his "6th sense", doesnt make it right.
Besides, as ive said...sometimes it doesnt work like this. Ive had 6 skeletons beating up my AQ, whilst she totally ignored them..she prefered shooting a wall which already had a gap to run through lol. She died without even shooting one of them..can you explain that one to me?
Also the amount of times my AQ goes running after a BK, which runs away from her? How does that work? I know the BK's "6th sense" trigger is ever so slightly smaller than the AQ's, but sometimes he'll hop a wall, which she needs to somehow shoot to get to him (even when hes clearly in range)? Then u know what happens, he hops back over an slaughters her (if shes still alive while everything else is shooting her) as shes still shooting that wall.

The consistency of the AI isnt good..we can all see the amount of squares between heroes an targets (even dragons are included), an often they choose the farther away target. It does frustrate alot of people, an I can see exactly why.

Even guys who been playing since the game started noticed it. So SC changed the AI somehow and made it worst. All we are trying to figure out is why did they change it to make it worst? It wasnt a gradual change. It was an immediate change after update.

Nothing funnier than having all your troops in the middle only to have a skeleton trap that only has 3 make your entire army run outside the base.. Doesn't make sense. Then they of course go completely around the outside. So we won't focus on a cannon right next to us blasting the ♥♥♥♥ out of our guy.. But by George a skeleton pops up and they immediately need to die and it takes the entire army to do so .. Not to mention my queen needing to shoot the only piece of level 11 wall on the entire board when that level 8 piece being broke would accomplish the exact same thing
