Allthough I think it is a good suggestion creating a shared account for posting and editing the shortlist I wouldn't like the fact you have to sign off and on again every time all the time when running the shortlist. During the times you have to edit the shortlist a lot (like my last night) it is hectic enough just to keep up with the Captain III thread. I don't know if you guys backtracked anything but sometimes 4-5 pages were added in less then 30 minutes.
Personally I don't have a problem with not being able to edit a Captain's messages in the shortlist who isn't online at that time. It is usually a few you might want to edit at times and usually I just remember and ignore it if a boat is done or something like that.
As you can see last night I didn't leave many posts in the shortlist. You might even think we had nothing to do but if you backtrack you will see we did.. When I operate it I usually delete posts of previous boats when they are done and when we have added information on the next one. If there isn't information yet I don't delete it. I only keep around the last post on boat information of a candidate. Allthough I must say I do this when I have the time. When it is very busy they might still be on the shortlist but on my to do list for removal.
I will explain this by using a couple of examples to clarify. For the candidate mmowens01 / teacher01. I can't quite remember how many boats we pulled in last night but it must have been at least 6 or so. He/she was really on a fast track to graduation. Anyway as you can see in the shortlist there's only 1 post left on that candidate and that is the fact he/she graduated. I did add all of his/her boats to the shortlist but when adding information boat # 8 I also deleted boat # 7. The purpose for this is not to flood the shortlist with information that serves no purpose anymore and also to keep it short. That is why I often will ask you all to remove the information on candidates who have graduated already and so on.
Sophia I hope you don't mind me using you as another example. :D S tends to do things differently. ( We all have our own way of doing things and it doesn't really matter how you do it as long as it works for you and off course is inline with the format of posting te keep it easy on all of us ) Back to the example. Sophia sometimes tends to keep all the boats around on the shortlist. On page 3 you'll see an example on the candidate Szen / Suszen. Post # 158 and # 159 are both on that candidate. # 158 for boat 10 and # 159 for boat 11. If I had added those posts I would have added # 159 and deleted # 158 right after that. As long as we have the last post with info we have information on boat count. In doing so I keep the information we still need in a couple of posts. It also helps to keep it nice and neat and short.
Again I would like to emphasize there is no right or wrong way between the 2 examples. It is just a different way.
