That's how this game works.
I was a maxed TH8 before, with full storages while waiting TH9 upgrade completion. TH at outside corner un-trap.
TH9/TH10 can 2* or 3* my base when they unleash everything, even with tier-2 armies like Giant L6 + heal.
The spring traps, double GB, full tesla, etc. are insufficient when they send in 16-24 L6 giants + both heroes + 4x heal spells.

Be glad if you lose less than 50% of storages.

I myself have a 2nd account TH 8, maxxed offense/defense and just over 30 more skull walls to grind..

Don't feel bad about your base being flattened by TH 9's..

You can always revenge back, or bully those TH 7/8 with your max army as well.
That's how the system works, you live with it or better quit.

to answer your second question... This is clash of clans, part strategy part dog eat dog. The big fish always eats the smaller fish. Are you surprised that a town hall above yours can destroy you? You're a th8 you should know the drill by now.

Its partially true! But you should rush to TH9 after maxing your TH8 offense.

I did the same. I enter into TH9 after 43 days sitting 25 days on full elixir storage and 2 days on full DE storage in TH8. BK lvl10, 200 skulls, all elixir builder-needs upgrades done and BAM is max (barbar 5 archer 5 minion 4) and golem lvl2.

Based on my calculations I waste 100M elixir (which is 100 lvl9 walls) in TH8 and TH7. Also I at least waste 100K DE in TH8 and TH7 because of full DE and elixir storages.

You should see the difference in clan wars...

I always see giants flying with out wings with my replays... and that AQ being fried by triple tesla while shooting a stupid wall :)

You can get a hefty amount of any resources with your farming army :) but i doubt it can100% a max th 8
