I urgently need a decent anti-gowipe base that, preferably, has been tested.
After many wars, I don't find myself getting attacked by any variation of drags - instead my anti-drag base is getting 2/3 starred by gowipe - so I need one to not get pounded.
I know Cam's anti-gowipe but looking at feedback, it isn't the best ever - I'm confident the forum community has somthing good ;) Thanks

TH8 is a painful stop, its great for looting, but really REALLY bad stop for defense. not enough walls or high enough turret-levels to matter much, even maxed can be bested by L4 hogs or GoWiz** Loonian or even mass Drags by fellow TH8 let alone any TH9s with bigger buffs.
Strong against one is weak to another. you must choose. (or go to 9 early, which is what I recommend:cool:) but there isn't much to offer unfortunately.

TH9 is, in my opinion, is way more fun, but I feel I jumped the gun too early. I wish I had gotten my BK past lvl 5, got my upgrades done (I didn't have max drags, max pekka, max minion, max hog, max spells, etc.), and gotten maxed Teslas.

TH 8 anti-Gowipe? Nonexistent.
Sorry, even the most basic gowipe troops can 2* ANY th 8 base. You could stop unskilled attackers by making a base with a large moat between the core and other buildings, to attempt to path the troops around the base?
Do not listen to this man or anyone else who might try to have you do things you will regret. Nothing good comes out of advancing town halls early because you just get stuck on things town hall 8's should be doing instead of working on town hall 9 material along with the loot penalty. To a degree you not being able to do much against gowipe is true. I will help your situation out a bit more later. Dont upgrade to th9 early.Quote:

You can't stop GoWiPe with TH8. It is overpower.
I fully agree TH7 with lvl 2 dragons and lvl 4 lightening spells can 3 star any other TH7. But I dont think this is possible with TH8 vs TH8. Let me know if there is a troop combo which can do it.Quote:

Th8 vs th8 is easy 3star with dragloon at best base set up and max drags for poor layout. At th8 you just have to hope your attacker doesn't understand how to maximize their drag attacks. Th8 should be looking to slow down drag attacks and create kill zones for drags. You can add measures to hurt hog raids and slow gowipe but not prevent 2stars. Hopefully a proper base can hold off that 3rd star. Reality is thou th8 can not really defend 100% against th8. Good attacker will get three stars. Upgrade your teslas and that will hurt gowipe attacks.Quote:

Being 2 starred in CWs as a TH8 is a win in my book.
At TH8, the goal of your war base is to prevent the third star. Good war bases are usually anti-hog (double bomb that could be in multi locations, anti-dragon (upgraded air defenses, Teslas and archer towers) and anti-gowi** (your design will cause the attack troops to go around the base if a mistake is made.)
Anti anything can be relative, even well designed bases, if under powered will loose. When I first got to TH8, dragon attacks 3 stared me every time, by the end, my base was hard to 2 star because of the upgraded defenses and buildings. Upgraded defenses of course because they will do more damage, but upgraded buildings help too, they have more health, taking longer to kill, giving your defenses more time to pound on attacking troops.
You also have to compare apples to apples, TH8 to TH8 in your case. If a TH9 or 10 comes down to pound you, they will, but in grand scheme, this is a victory.
