Not at all. When I reached th9 i dumped 6mil into walls and used the elix for elixir upgrades. In the end builders will still be busy doing other important stuff like storages anyway. Try to max storages if you can though, but overall the difference is paltry anyway.

My gold and elixir storages are full and I have 68k dark elixir with golems and hogs maxed. I wanted to max minions as well but didn't have enough time. I really recommend filling your storages since you have 10 days to do that if your walls are maxed. I attacked maybe 3 times a day during these 10 days, not a big deal.

So:
FULL STORES:
Pros - fast bootstrap of TH9 (lab, new stuff including at least 1 xbow, AQ 1 or leveled up a few notches, all on the pile of loot you bring in which is far easier to accumulate as a TH8)
Cons: you need to grind as a TH8 for a week to pile up the loot. The DE is kinda hard to get to max.
Non-full stores:
Pros: You don't have to do anything
Cons: It will take you several days/weeks to get to the same point you would have had you had full stores.
Did Golem to lvl 2, BK to lvl 10 and hogs to lvl 4. So pretty much all the essential DE upgrades save minions were done at th8. I mostly farmed it in Gold 2, mostly from non centered DE storages and DE drills, and only barch. Still doing the same at my early TH9 days, only its now Gold 1 and higher. :DQuote:
