1) Skele traps/heros/cc
The worse case I ever had of this was with a Giants and Valkyrie attack on a Th10. Heros down, CC inactive - prime target. Started my surge down the middle and my king I believed triggered a skeleton trap on the outside of the base. My Valkyrie literally backtracked (under a rage) about 8 paces, stood in place for a few seconds because the skeletons had died, move around some due to different skeletons, then scattered.
I had like 38% because of this bizarre AI
2) Pathing
As a few have stated Valkyrie prioritize groups of buildings. This can make pathing difficult to figure out if you have an open area. Where this causes the most issues is a ring base. If you have a square shaped compartment with a smaller square inside that one, and the buildings on the outside ring are touching each other - Valkyrie will 90% of the time follow the ring. Once I got like 75% and almost literally carved a circle around the TH.
