OK, now I would like to say that I have 8 revenge buttons left on my 30 entries of my Defence Log. This is with the current system. After my spree of revenge attacks several weeks ago of 1-3 a day, I'm near depleted. The ones left I'm still waiting to 'ripen up' before spending resources on an attack. A few have fell off the list before I could get to it, but that has been rare. Recently I broke my record of longest time between being attacked, and doing 'revenge', with my new record of revenge attacking a little over 12 days after being attacked.
Why am I saying this (besides maybe a hint of bragging)? I'm saying this to show it is already feasible to get your attacks in. Others may do half as well as I do, but even then, if people worked at it, and thought ahead, that would be a lot of revenge attacks going on. Saying that revenge attack should ignore shields would be a major disincentive to play the game, since raiding enough times to keep your Builders busy would be a near futile effort, as everyone you ever slighted in the least would attack you at the worst possible time for you. I know I would.
Because of my usual targets, mostly abandoned bases that I farm, I rarely ever get revenge attacked. However, I do. Once I did a spree of town hall snipes, thinking it would be cute to find a trolling base with a trapped TH, and then DE zap and leave with a trophy dump and no shield. Wasn't as quick a spree as I thought as I must have found 8-12 bases I would have liked to zap, but couldn't. Eventually I found one, made a lame excuse to zap and called it quits. So I helped people get shield, right? And ticked one guy off. End of story, right? WRONG! Was revenge attacked for days while full of loot, from most of those higher TH lvl bases. Must have been more than half of them hitting back before that one spree's consequences was over with. Main reason they were able to even hit back so easily was I was daring barcher armies to attack and lose, so they had plenty of opportunities to hit back, as I had no shield most times.
Ironicly, got revenge attacked an hour and a half ago. Just damn lucky I only lost 1k DE. Gold and Elixir was so low at the time, that I wasn't attacked for over 24 hours until then.
But anyway, if it is too easy to revenge attack, the person attacking back would have the advantage, since they'd have days and weeks to wait, stalk, plan, and then strike when the opportunity arises when you are rich with loot. The person attacking first has to hit Next, wade through base after base, and only have 30 seconds to plan after picking a base that fits thier generic budget army. The revenge attacker can make an army that fits the base, and attack when it is more than profitable to use the more expensive and more powerful army.
Long story short: No, I do not agree at all to the idea of revenge attacks ignoring shields. It breaks the 'security blanket' feel that shield gives players, and popping that bubble on them will just enrage the player base and cause people to leave.
(I'm sure AxionXD likes to hear that an avid revenge attacker is on thier side in respects to this topic )
