Unless SC already had an pirate island idea well in the works prior to it being brought up by the poster in mid January, is six weeks sufficient time to develop, program, test, & debug what could be potentially a major game aspect? Perhaps some of the more tech saavy players could shed some light on this? Not being so myself, I've always been under the impression based on prior comments from SC that update features take quite some time (as in many months) to design & implement.
Whatever it is, just get on with it! I find the cryptic teasers annoying, and I would much rather have a definitive "it is this date" announcement and a maximum of 3 or 4 days of hype before the update.
IMHO speculation often leads to disappointment as people build mental images based on the speculative ideas, and when they don't appear in the update people can feel let down.
As a well known sportswear manufacturer would say.... "Just do it" !!!!!
Oh boy.. I have learned it the hard way not to speculate so please do not take this for granted. If it is townies getting flagged like boat crates, i see hundreds of jelly bean and blanket requests piling up in the horizon. Lol.

I would doubt it Mike but others have greater knowledge than me. My guess is sneak peeks will start today/tomorrow. Update maybe as early as Tuesday.
We've already had a few hints -bigger neighbourhoods, kittens etc, but I'm hoping there's something big needing lots of coins. Ideally aimed at high level players but suspect that will more likely happen later in the year as these things take time to plan and develop.
Since the last update I feel there have been lots of double coin events to boost people's coffers. Many boxes I open contain coins v few have diamonds or so it seems. Can't remember when I got one of those delicious 8-diamond boxes in the town.
Lower/mid levels gain more with trucks so that's why I see it's aimed at everyone rather than high players this time at least.
The ducks cost thick end of 1m so something like that would be good.
And yes Nick is a tease but he's a guy who obviously enjoys his job which is more than fine by me.
If there is an island, I think SC would've developed the idea independently from and much earlier than that forum post.Quote:

On Twitter yesterday they said the sneak peeks would start soon! They also said they would love to push update live now but they need to make sure it is working properly!
i hope it is NOT an all neighborhood driven update! Our NH is small and only family as a BAD experience in a NH after they created them was enough for me never to join another one!
Whatever it is, I like others wish they would just release the update.
The truck event, IMO is to help players gain coins prior to the update as they will need coins to purchase whatever in the update.
I can see Nick dancing like rumpelstiltskin, because we are all so nervous!😋

One of my favorite Hay Day updates has been the intralevel threshold rewards. It's such a simple, elegant motivator. I hope there's something basic but impactful like that in the new update.
