Finally an opt-in/opt-out button. When clan wars first started, it tore my clan apart (I'm leader). Lost a good number of people, and then co-leaders kicked others that I didn't want to kick, per se.

Anyway, we developed a compromise where we'd war once a week and I kick anyone who didn't want in, and then re-invite once war search started. Now I won't have to kick anymore. Yay.

This was not what people suggested. We wanted leader/co leaders to decide (maybe with a X near their name) to decide which people to go to war.

Right now if we're in a 30 member clan, 1 guy to unmark himself will make 4 others miss war too.

How the hell is this good?

I hope tomorrow is a sneak peek about a level 3 witch or a level 5 Valk. Come on, can't give us a new D unit level and leave the O stagnant.

All I can say is, this update is better than the last one. GG, SEE.

Half of this thread is complaints... There should be no "disappointment" at the end of the day your goin to just log back in and continue playing, acknowledge the fact you get an update at all lol

If you look at the wording of the opt in / opt out message in the OP, it seems that each member can state their preference of wether or not to participate in a war but that ultimately it will be up to the leaders and co-leaders. As the leader of a clan, I think that is how I would want it to work... Hope I'm right.

These are nice improvements but they are more like patch notes. Maybe I have been to accustomed to the way MMO developers do patches, like Blizzard and ArenaNet, but a few minor changes like this don't warrant the excitement of big patch release, even for a mobile game like this IMO. Like really? It took them this long to implement opt in/out? Don't get me wrong, the changes are nice and needed but they aren't worthy of all this hype. I still love the game and all, I guess I'm just a little let down by this one.

Maybe members decide but leaders can overrule?

People will find a way to complain about this though...you can't win unfortunately...

Leaders DO have the final decision, the players can select their preference, then a good Leader would use this to select who goes and who doesn't.

You are correct, this has been confirmed by Cheif Whats-His-Face's Latest video.

its ok but all the hype for this? we just leave a white flag at the th so everybody can see if you are in or out the cw. i love coc but im a bit disappointed...it seems heroes available in cw during upgrading is not comming

All those claiming Opt in/out should be a leaders only thing are just control freak idiots.

The last thing many of us leaders in clans want is even more administrative overhead when it comes time to choose war. If your clan is full of kiddies or time wasters who don't attack, then just boot them, that has absolutely nothing to do with opt in/out as a feature. Clean your clans out of the rubbish players.

However for the rest of us who are sick to death of having to maintain "opt out threads" on our private forums, making sure people remember to post there, check there before hitting the button, kick the right people, dont reinvite back before restarting the search etc etc - this is exactly what is needed. If I choose to have a few days off due to holiday or hero upgrading why should the leaders be burdened with constantly having to kick/reinvite? I should be able to stay in the clan, donate in the few moments I can be online, yet not inconvenience anyone around the administration of starting a war.

Great feature. Again, if you have people in your clan who you don't trust to decide for themselves whether they are in or out then you need to fix your clan, not trash a feature that helps out the rest of us...

The opt in out image` has archer unlocked...but the release the beast achievement is not unlocked......

If you look closely, it says "upgrading your CLAN to level 2", not cc. So I would hazard a guess that there will be clan levels now, much like other games, that may or may not offer perks at higher levels.

Opt in/out is solid. If the clan leveling perks are decent, this has potential to be a nice update.

Calm down people. It clearly states that they can select their preference and it is visible to everyone. Where do you get members being able to decide? It doesn't say that anywhere

th first 3 sneak peeks have been pretty poor as far as it goes... new cannon level is a standard upgrade nothing special... clan perks is very minute, and now we have opt in/out which is a useless sneak peek for pretty much everybody (that regularly wars)

come on sc... better not have spent nearly 3 months on just this...

there re better be some big sneak peek with something special... everybody saying game is dragging on a bit and if this update sucks its another 3 months of basically no changes

It may not work perfectly, we shall see, but being the war admin at present sucks a big one.

If you have a long running clan, that isnt perma war, then you will like this.

This is excellent news! It sounds like they put some real thought into the implementation of this feature. In my opinion this is exactly the way the opt-in/out should work.

The reason some leaders are so angry about opt in/out for war is now people checking a clan out can't be tricked into a war. Something that happens when you're looking for a clan or if they know you are leaving after the existing war they immediately start another with you in it. Sometimes larger clans will pull a little guy in, start the war, then kick him. All that shady stuff stops with members having to opt in to wars, so those whom are mad are the people doing such devious tactics to get a clan war in their own clan.

Regardsless if the leader have influence or not (we dont know that yet). If a player opts in, but you as a leader thinks he doesn't belong in the war, you ask him to change it and state your arguments or simply kick him.

Whats the big deal, leaders have the power.

But this was needed bigtime and i'm happy they have done it this way.

Well its all very well having a marker to say that you are in or out, but at the moment i am assuming that means that someone in your clan has to not only visit all bases to see if there is a white flag, but will also then have to soft kick everyone for war if they dont want to participate (or you have to remember to leave)

i believe that this option finally gives the clan management a rest from doing all that, because your white flag marker will effectively automatically opt you in or out... Whats the problem with that?

im just hoping that the default for this feature will be "off" so that people have to opt in if they want to war

We do know actually. Go check playclashofclans on YouTube and he says leaders choose who can as well as members being able to, but leader has final say. Which is completely fine! There is nothing wrong with this update, very very good.

Haters will hate.. We asked for this option a long time ago! Supercell is listening to the community.. Great job guys.. But still... Make heroes available while upgrading in clan war.. Its just not fair when someone doesn't have his king or queen available!

And if you used your brain you would realise that leaders decide.

Agreed on all of this. My clan also uses a private forum app for opting Out.

CoC updates won't please everyone as everyone plays differently. lol 13 cannon is gr8 for TH10s but not for those who need to raid TH10s
opt Out of wars is good for those who want to be in a farming clan and can't find one.
clan perks are ok for those who are staying in a clan for a long time but hoppers won't care.

fact is nothing wrong with the game as it is today so any update should enhance the game a little. We don't need a huge change.

Of course opt out is for the player to decide. The leader already has an option to kick any player they choose. If your war clan is slowly turning into a farm clan then lace up your boots and start kicking. Otherwise let people opt out if they are going camping for the weekend or doing exams or whatever. Better that the members can manage this themselves than you lose a war because someone was AWOL or be forced to kick a usually reliable player because they couldn't get in both attacks. Great work supercell.

How they could fix it? Well, I would start by doing something that hasn't been touched in a very long time... "My League". You are in a league with 99 other players but what exactly does it say? Does anyone ever look to the league for any reason? I think the league you're in and the seasons (2 weeks) should be connected to each other. Some sort of knock-out competition, where you play against the ones in your league and you can advance to the next round. You earn loot if you progress and the top 3 or so win a substantial amount of loot but more important... a lot of cups. This way, the leaderboard is not just "the one who spends the most amount of money" and also not looking at clouds 24/7 and when you decide to attack, it is for 1 to 3 cups lol. No... when you manage to finish in the top 3, you can gain many trophies... 50-100 for example.

This way, there is a totally new feature (heads-on knockout competition), a new way to earn loot and more important, a new way to serve the leaderboard.

And this is just a simple thought from a simple player. Just imagine what Supercell could think off...

The subleague number (I, II, III) now looks bigger :) I hope donated troops now stay even if you leave a clan. Below donated troops I can see like a square around "donated troops" maybe now the biggest is now marked?

It's actually nothing really major, since up to this point nobody used healers. And that's because they'd fall victim to ADs, not traps.

OP your opinion is your opinion, I personally think that this updates okay so far. It would make sense for SC to save the best for last, does it not though? There's still some hope for you OP.

Of course the leader decides! He could simply kick if he wanted to! Which is what the leader would have to do to get it to a multiple of 5, rather than that it is better for the leader to decide by opting people out. It is the leaders clan and he can do what he wants, if you dont like that then leave.

And if you use your brain, It is the members free will to opt out in an actual war or not. The leader can't force Somone to war.

That forum elusive though. About time I don't have to press that one button to see a potential clan members base. Going to save me about half a second every week. Yeah.

Wrong... it clearly states members express a preference. Chief Pat video clearly states leadership has final say.

Opt in and out of war is kind of a big deal........we have all adults whose lives get in the way of war sometimes we have to kick them out star war and re invite now so this will stop that I like it. The rest ehh I'm th8 lvl 13 cannon won't affect me for a while and clan perks honestly how good could that really be?

Anyway, fixing the leaderboard would be my top priority. It's broken for approx. 2 years now (did it ever even work) and it is the main income for Supercell. It would be respectful to serve the players who provide the majority of SC's income.

How they could fix it? Well, I would start by doing something that hasn't been touched in a very long time... "My League". You are in a league with 99 other players but what exactly does it say? Some sort of knock-out competition, where you play against the ones in your league and you can advance to the next round. This way, the leaderboard is not just "the one who spends the most amount of money" and also not looking at clouds 24/7 and when you decide to attack, it is for 1 to 3 cups lol. No... when you manage to finish in the top 3, you can gain many trophies... 50-100 for example.

This way, there is a totally new feature (heads-on knockout competition), a new way to earn loot and more important, a new way to serve the leaderboard.

And this is just a simple thought from a simple player. Just imagine what Supercell could think off...

Thats true, I recall a dev once saying they are aware of the problem with clouds etc. That was the initial focal point of the game. If they could rework that the game could become massively better. But there would be more complaints than there was with changing loot mechanics. And they would naturally want to preserve the broken status quo that brings them money. But you are correct, for players like you 'fixing' cups and making it more engaging is what they would have to do.:)

thank you supercell for adding the opt out... something that should have been included from jump street, but was overlooked for numerous updates for god knows why. Also thank you for adding more flags, I've been waiting for that one for years. My 5 year old daughter can't wait to play with the new patterns and design our new banner. Maybe tomorrow the sneak peak will be new artwork on the loading screen. CANT WAIT!!!

Not really, Ever heard of The Clan Wars Update, It Wasnt There Forever, It was out in march

Thanks Super Cell, for finally allowing us to opt in or out of war! Now we just need upgrading heroes for war, donations to remain intact upon exiting and re-entering a clan, and can alliances. :cool:

Last two updates are just major disappointments IMO.

Bring more than one healer and drop them after the next a.d. Is down....

It's not just that traps targetted then it's also the AI that need fixing. If they did nothing with the AI then yeah healers are still useless but I am hopefully they will be useful again. Healers used to work, now they are just awful to try and keep on your Giants

Nope. Not gonna happen. Too many gems spent in waking them. We might want it, but no. Waiting time IS their revenue source.
Look on the bright side, they gave you an easy way to skip war when heroes down....
