Things That Make A Difference 7 - To Gem or not to Gem?

Welcome to the 7th part of the TTMAD series! :)

From the hollow, jealous echoes of Global chat to the more polite, slightly bitter question "Are you a gemmer?", many gemmers feel the heat.
In fact, Global can be so cruel sometimes, that people resort to reporting if somebody says that they gemmed.

Then again, there is no definite line between Gemmers and non-Gemmers and there are various categories of Gemmers.

The "Builder Huts Only" Gemmers.
The "Attack Building boost Only" Gemmers.
The "Insta-finish" Only Gemmers.
The "Gem EVERYTHING" Gemmers...etc.
In fact, some people play so "hardcore" that they classify people who use gems earned from achievements and obstacles as Gemmers (yep, I have a Clash friend who thinks like that!)

As usual, I know everybody has different opinions on this topic, so open up! :)

I don't really gem consistently, sometimes if I know I can't cook my dragon army quick enough for war, I'll insta train a dragon or two. Or if I need to donate something to someone, I might gem sometimes.

I always gem in the 1 gem boosts. Always.

And during forum elite, I gemmed one 2hr session with my barracks. I fell asleep for half of it *facepalm*

I boost 2 barracks, AQ and SF (50% of the time) when farming.
I also started gemming the upgrade time of AQ when she hit lvl 13.

Hahaha! Once I boosted every attack building on base and my phone decided that it didn't have enough juice to keep going after 45 minutes.
I was 10 miles away from home, sadly. Lost the next 1h 15 minute boost :(

Thats true and i dont think there are many clashers who have never used gems in the game.

i never gem upgrades or collectors . i have the patience to wait for them to get done and meanwhile farm for the next upgrade to come.
i have gemmed barracks spell factory heroes a couple of times. some on push season some on 1 boot season.

Gemmer as in Paying player?

I'm not a gemmer, but I want to be though :p

even if it is f2p, I feel obliged to 'donate' to the game I love

I only gemmed things with gems I gained from achivements and obstacles.

I have "donated" to Supercell a number of times.

I don't gem resources, at least since doing that once as a th4, lol. I don't instant build.

I boost. Not always, but when I have a block of time. Or during war to get those max golems rolling out to clanmates faster.

I love boosting the queen.

When I used to loon as th9 in masters, I would boost 2 racks as well as the queen. Made it a decent pace.

I don't gem lab upgrades or building times excerpt to cut a day off here or there. Or to wake a hero for war that is really close.

I guess I have donated my fair share, but clash has really saved me money. I used to buy a new xbox game every month. After starting clash, I stopped doing that, and I didn't buy a new console either. So, I have saved hundreds by playing clash.... anything I spend in saving me money, lol

I think very high level clashing is hard without a little gemming. It feels too damn slow!

I only use gems for boosting 1 barrack 2 or 3 times a day and sometimes queen. Never to buy resources or to finish anything. Maybe I will finish my queen in future if I need her in war. But that would happen rarely. I use gems from achievement but will buy 20$ some day :p

One of my friends gifted me a Google Play card from which I bought my builders :)
I hope to give him an equally awesome gift one of these days! ;)

I gem, and anyone else that plays this game is free to play it how they choose. I personally use Gems to free a builder when my storages are full (also bought 5th builder) and to boost my barracks and SF. However someone else chooses to spend their time or money is completely up to them. Clash on!!!

Who cares if you gem as long as you can dominate in war?


Doesnt really matter. Gem if you can.

i even gemed coc download from ios store !

I have gemmed to knock some time off a building as I wanted to start something new before I closed down for the night. I have boosted barracks on occasion when I just wanted a 2 hour block to raid.

I see nothing wrong with Gemming at all.

To me there are "Gemmers" and "people who use gems".

Gemmers are those with like 20M gold grab, but have a max base. They have no idea how to use their troops and fail hard in war. Our last war opponent had a guy like this. He quadraloonioned our 1... failed, then gemmed the same army instantly and failed on our number 2.

People who use gems are those who progress normally through the game while boosting rax and speeding upgrades.

I don't gem resources at all (GG and EE over 1B). I boost 2 rax and AQ for barch/BAM. I upgrade my AQ when I can and gem her awake for war unless it's our 7 day hero upgrade period. Then I'll TRY to let her sleep, but it sucks playing without her.

I don't gem because i need money to buy a new tablet to play clash of clans...:cool:

I do gem, and people that say I'm a gemmer, they are just jealous...

If gemmer mean guys who pay for gems?? No. I am not a gemmer

I used many gems during the starting of the game (I think of most of the clashers have:p ) but not until the gems finish.......:cool:

I use gems to boost barracks during wars...

and I use gems During 1 gem boost events...:p

I do gem, I bought 2500 when I was first playing CoC. Then 1200, Then 500. Another 2500, then 14000.

During the R.E.D. event I did buy 2500 and 1200. I still had around 12000 gems back then. The reason is obvious, because of its charity event.

The rest? It's because I want to feel superior. Not in the contents of the game. But so that I see myself as someone who keeps Supercell alive (maybe rich even) and covered the cost of playing of the players that wants to play for free.

The way I use my gem are extremely stupid. For war. I insta did everything. Nearly every time, because I don't have the spare time with my iPad.

I have purchased roughly 20,000 gems ontop of achievements
I use them frequently and I will probably purchase more in the future.
I have the money, that isn't the issue.
However, I don't like to be called a "gemmer" so I try not to gem resources or insta-gem buildings.

I boost, I gem the last day on my heroes for war, I gem the training of troops to fill war ccs, etc.
I try not to gem troop research unless I have the resources capped and waiting.

I have the means, so why not?
With a name like Bighundy, you gotta keep up appearances hahah

I like earning my stuff.

I have 4 builders as well you need to have more builders to progress.

I gem during 1 gem boosts.

And I gemmed elixir, just becuase I didn't have enough to make a expensive army.

My brother gemmed his dark elixir for his hogs upgrade since he loves him so much. He wants those hogs.

I gave him enough money to get him two builders for his birthday as he was complaining about not making fast enough progress and has been asking me for that a lot.

I don't care what he does with the left over gems.

So am I a gemmer. Well, I use earned gems from the game so I'm in two catagories.

Earned gem gemmer.

And gem giving gemmer. (Does paying for gems for someone else make me a gemmer?)

The assumption that its ALWAYS kids that do wrong on global....people always assume its kids based on the small majority of idiots on global.

I am a gemmer in the sense that I use gems, but as a student I have other priorities for my money whereas I have a lot of spare time, so I am a 'freeloading gemmer' if you wish- never bought any gems but using the ones I get.

however I am thankful that there are people who do feel they can put £x aside for the game and keep it running

I might have to change that. Thanks for pointing out. I actually meant to say, people who act like kids.

For the record, I know a lot of "kids" who play maturely!

Builder-Hut Gemmer only.

Really like the game and I decided to use my school money to buy the 5th builder and that's all.

Obstacle/Achievement gems used for 1 Gem-boosting event or occasional barrack boosting.

I usually spend $50 a week on gems, just makes it easier to upgrade when I don't have time to play and makes it a bit more fun, get's boring being lower then everyone else.
