TH 8 gold/essence balance

I hit TH8 just when they made a few changes. Lots of changes were good, but I'm now at a point where I still need heaps of gold, and have no idea what to use the essence for. It just adds up so I become a sexy target, while upgrades requiring gold lines up into eternity (almost).

I usually level up everything before next TH, but not sure how that will work out now. It's mainly troop upgrades left (and one dark barrack). Still I have numerous defence units still needing upgrades, and perhaps 80 percent of walls. Walls alone take 500k each. Before change one could choose between gold or essence for walls, but it was revoked.

Good for clan members, I try to get rid of essence through crazy costly troops, but they take a lot of time to cook.

I could go for wizards, dragons and PEKKA armys, but then it would take hours between army being ready.

I do believe making walls a choice between the two resources would help even it out, at least for me. But not sure how most players experience it. Anybody else facing the same issue of imbalance between gold/essence?

You probably put down the game for a longer period of time a couple of times a day (at least). Just train up high cost troops then. I like balloons, so I always train up a set (with spells) at night, and raid with them first thing in the morning, and then train another set to use first thing in the evening. You could do dragons, which are much more costly.

I had the same problem at TH7 with DE, and had fun doing hog raids every couple of days or so!

I'm early TH8 and war with dragons alot, so I can't get enough elixer, and I'm overflowing with gold.

Not related to the OP at all, but I have never heard it called, 'essence', before.

ive had no problems maxing th 8 ic ould make 6-8 million gold on a good day which is every day :D

They aren't going to tell you this but TH8 having no use for elixir is because there is such a high need for elixir at TH9. When they allowed TH8 to use elix on walls, there were was a huge backlash from alot of angry TH9s because the elixir pool pretty much dried up and caused a massive imbalance in the economy. Instead of finding ways for TH9s to make more elixir they just decided to move it back to TH8s being the elixir donate stations for TH9.

Currently I'm maxing my last couple of buildings at TH8 before moving to TH9. I am usually close to maxed out with elixir and have almost nothing left that takes elixir, I moved all my elixir storage's outside of my base next to my town hall. I've had good luck in TH9s sniping my base and elixir storages and leaving alone my gold and dark elixir. I guess if they can get a free 300k in elixir without using a ton of troops they are happy with that and don't bother attacking my other resources. I also train dragon armies for fun and to revenge all the zappers.

Put your th in a corner of the map unprotected...and put one of your lix storages right beside it.

Sure you will lose 90k elixir each attack but lots of people will stop at that and take their win.

Tried that, didn't work as they would still hit the th and then try for more loot. Its better in the base to delay there troops as your defense destroy's there army.

Max your Mortar's and centralize them. That will hold off a lot of attack's. and prevent other's from attacking.

I do understand your logic...assuming you believe thats better then I assume your th is always inside your walls?

Essence? you mean elixir??

If you need gold and have heaps of elixir, mass drag farm. It's soooo fun to grab 300k gold and 20-30 trophies with mass drags. If that does not meet your fancy go with other expensive troops: Pekka's for instance.

If each raid pulls in 300k gold, and you do not care about your other resources, just protect the gold storages. You wont get hit that hard between raids. Right now I log in and use the dragon army/spells I cooked. Restart the troop creation and log out. come back later, do it again. Half the time I have been TH sniped with minimal loss of resources between each raid.
