Player search

I've read the sticky and i know its been ruled out... but I don't care. I work in software dev and know that implementing a DB query UI with various criteria and filters isn't THAT hard to do. So IGNs aren't unique; give us an advanced search feature that will allow for search filters and it will be used.


I have yet to hear a good reason against it other than that it won't generate revenue. You've created a social platform, time to add a key element.

I agree with this only if they will also implement a player to player messaging system. Otherwise yeah you found them, however you can't communicate with them, kinda pointless.

That significantly increases the scope of the change. I agree that a PM feature would be great but imagine the increase of the footprint that makes on a server.

If you can find someone and identify their clan, just join their clan and message them via clan chat.

Player search has been ruled out because of the potential for harassment, not for technical reasons.

A simple DB column add and ui change called "block player" would solve this. Facebook does it.

I don't buy it and neither should you. There's no load/performance issue that can't be resolved with resources and support. The problem, again, is that there's no revenue potential in it but rather functionality enhancement. Supercell only seems slightly concerned with the user experience and largely concerned with selling gems.

I like it. If you have a friend that wants to join your invite-only clan, just search em up

Wihthout the possibility to message friends, searching for them seems pointless. As far as messaging goes, while the mainstream players would use this function as an asset, I think the vast majority of your received messages will be from ♥♥♥♥♥♥-off pre teens who haven't learned how to handle defeat yet. I, for one, would not like to spend any time deleting and blocking future rants from these players. If, rather than blocking, messages can only be sent to friends, then the abuse issue will be circumvented.

Edit: I do see the use for searching for a friend in order to join his clan, so yes, with this I do agree.
