The Trophy System is Trash!!!

The current trophy system can be fooled and tricked. You can easily drop trophies to find easy bases or climb the ranks to become powerful by only attacking farming bases.

Ways to fix this are:
- Have the same leaderboards, etc. but the leaderboards use the max trophies that player has reached. Not what they currently have.
- Abolish the current leaderboards and have them based of skill level/ xp level/ base level, etc.
Please comment below your pros and cons to a new system.

No.Loot penalty is there,so if a high level clan drops a lot in trophies,they would not get any loot anyway.

The trophy level of the clan members doesn't influence the Clan War match. They're based on the cumulated strength of all bases together (defenses,troops, Heroes etc.).

It's right that you can easily drop your trophies, that's part of the game but try to snipe TH's in Masters or Champions League, there are almost no farming bases and game is getting really competitive up there.

So the trophy system works well and there is no need to change this.

Ok. Maybe the system works well up there but below, say, 2000 trophies, where most people are, there are a lot of people trying to get around the system. I often find a th10 just sitting at around 600 trophies just to attack easier bases. Those people try to get around the system.

And is farming really that important? I was farming and got three starred this morning. Farming doesn't always work anyways.

At TH9 above, buildings, armies, building upgrades, troop upgrades, Royal upgrades are very expensive. If you do not farm you will never max your base or unlock all the buildings at th10 (current max)

Its simple, you need to farm to get the best gear. (without gemming)

To be fair the "trophy system" is fine. Trophies themselves have no value until you are 4000+. Thus it doesn't hurt or benefit you to loose or gain them. If they had value then the trophy system might be just fine the way it is.

The only time trophies are used for wars is to decide which of your clan mates gets to participate. They have ZERO impact on matchmaking or base strength calculation. Lowest 0-4 trophy villages simply don't get calculated.

XP level is just as useless as trophies. It is almost entirely driven by how many troops you have donated and is just as easy to manipulate as trophies, just more time consuming. By "base level" I assume you mean TH, which is also a horrible determination of base strength. Lots of people rush to TH10 and aren't developed enough to stop an attack by a TH8. "Skill level" is impossible to determine unless SC writes some code that can use the screen to capture your DNA, calculate your brain synapses, scan the walls around you for diplomas, analyze your email for communication skills, etc. to determine if you are a bonehead or not. "Skill" is the one factor that sets us all apart. It is the reason two bases with identical level buildings/troops/walls can result in a 3* attack by one player and 0* by the other. Raiders and Patriots are in the same league, playing at the same level. One team just has better planning and skill. That is fair. The Raiders need to get better, not get a 30 point lead to start the game.

As you already pointed out, trophies don't mean anything. Who cares if you got three starred. Doesn't matter if you are farming. You simply need to steal more than gets stolen from you. That's how you get the loot to upgrade.

I often hoard gold and elixir too much,and I get attacked by a Dragon Spam.I am maxing collectors,but upgrading them is quite cheap.

i don't have a problem with the trophy system. Farming has become part of the game. Trophies don't affect wars TH lvls do. Many people Attack the farming bases and the farming bases lose trophies. The sniper attacks the farmer and they both get what they want. The sniper gains trophies and the farmer loses them and gets a free shield. The trophy system is a symbiotic relationship between snipers, farmers, and normal attackers. Take the trophy system away then many people will most likely quit the game. I am against your idea and complaint.

No no they aren't useless. With trophies your normally able to get into better clans. Also league bonus. The higher your league the more bonus and that is determined by trophies. If trophies were useless supercell would not have them in the game.

Why do you not have 3? The noobiest of noobs realise it is better to spend the 450+50 gems on the third builder rather than some stupid short cheap upgrades. And as a th7, I could 3 star you without a problem.

I think having the maximum trophy level is not going to help any because you already have said, it's easy to get high trophies.

i find the best way to tell a persons level is by looking at their true level ( the one with the blue star against it).
I know your frustration though, especially when recruiting. Peeps seem true interested in trophies which are not a true reflection on their ability.

Alright Dpmoton, here is an honest attempt at helping you. You aren't going to like some of it but I assure you I am not trying to make fun of/taunt/tease/troll you. Just pointing out some unfortunate truths about your base and understanding of the game. Call it tough love or whatever but you obviously need some instruction to help you progress in the game. Here we go . . .

2) Remember those trophies you think are so useless? If you haven't already, snipe your way up to crystal so you can get the gems from the achievement. Use them to buy your 3rd builder.

3) Drop back down to the 1200-1400 trophy range and stay there farming. You should be able to barch effectively in this range and keep all 3 builders busy. Your walls are in decent shape so don't leave a builder available for those. upgrade everything else to completion. Yes, you are farming now. Nothing can be gained by trying to maintain high trophies with your base. Nothing matters to you now except builders and upgrading.

4) Keep collecting gems to get your 4th builder. Don't spend them on anything else. With a little luck you will be close to maxing out your TH8 and upgrading walls in anticipation of TH9.

Think of TH8 as a roadblock or a test. You just need to make sure you come out strong on the other end or TH9 is going to be an awful experience. You are already struggling to do your TH7 upgrades with the TH8 loot penalty. It is that much worse at TH9. You will thank yourself in the long run if you don't rush your TH again.

The trophy system is "trash" because all the players decided to go through the loophole and take it the easy way by farming (myself included). Since when the majority is wrong, what is right becomes wrong (paraphrased); we think that the trophy system is trash, when in reality, it is all these farmers' problem.

SC can't fix the trophy system without upsetting everyone if they make farming unviable.

Fixing it like how you said is not something they want to do. Trophies are the main part of clash, whether everyone agrees or not; that has been stated by SC many times. There will be no leaderboard based on other things because that would further discourage playing the game "the honorable way" (not farming).

So just go move that town hall back inside [hypocrite alert!!! I'm a farmer]

No if the game is designed a certain way that greatly favors a certain method of play, it's the developer's problem. However, it's only a problem from the developers point of view if the issue hinders the main goal of the game which is to make money.

Since the game is the highest grossing app in the app store month after month, it stands to reason that they are likely quite happy with the current situation and thus won't be changing it any time soon.
