I've been camping C2 for a year. But now that I'm at M3 I can confirm that I doubled my gold income with the addition of just 4 giants and 2 hogs more. I have to admit that most of my target come from C1 :(
The key is to have a strong enough base that people are more likely to just take your TH. Haven't seen a real attack in a week with my TH outside.
