I notice while playing this game that for a few days I will get amazing loot, and then all of a sudden I really struggle to find loot, and there doesn't seem to be any to be found.
Also my clan mates also seem to experience loot droughts on the same days as myself.
What are your theories on why this happens?

I've never really had an issue. It boils down to each person has a different opinion of what acceptable loot is.
You can try and move up and down the trophy leagues. After almost a year playing, and on my way to maxing th9, i have never experienced loot problems. If anything, i always have too much loot and i am force to keep a builder free to dump loot on walls or else im getting raided.
I want to say it's as simple as taking too much loot and then having to wait for people to get it back using their collectors, but it's probably a lot more complicated than that. :eek::rolleyes:
The problem with loot is people feel it is unfair that they cant operate in a level much lower than their actual base strength and not find awesome loot.
If you forego your win bonus in Masters for example so you can farm down in Gold 3, when your base is clearly much tougher than that level, you have to take the rough with the smooth. If you raid near your true level you get a win bonus that reflects your troop cost.
If I use all archers an attack costs 92000 elixir. I only need to raid 50-100K pink to make a very tidy profit with the 100K+ win bonus. Obviously gold even better as its all profit.
We all find the odd idle base (which is nice!) but that isn't really the point of the game. I have little sympathy for people at level 110 barching in Silver 2 and moaning about loot. I agree with previous poster regards loot. It depends on your expectations...If I pick up a girl at the kebab house at 3am...she aint wife material..:p
Mmmm I think luck does play a part, but it's kinda weird how I play all weekend and find really great loot and then today I am picking over little loot and scraping off the loot bonus in master 3. I mean it was great 2 days ago, where has it all gone... :(
When people find loot in a league, most probably they will farm as much as possible, so the loot there is drained. At that time, they move to other league, and the loot slowly build up until it reach a peak and everyone start rush farming again. If you stay at any particular league for 2-3 months, you can see that loot-cycle happened.
Well I just made 700k gold in 2 easy Barch this morning followed by spending 300k to find a 100k plus base to raid.
Temperamental, but I'm used to it...
In The Higher Leagues(Master/Champions) there is always a loot shortage because no ones raiding - they're to busy sitting under shields, hanging out on global showing off their league badges.
