No.
Just no.
Don't even consider bring that back.
Thank you for your time.
YES, good request :)
So you're choosing to stay at the worst TH in the game, and letting precious elixir go to waste that could be used to get your TH9 offense maxed and then used to do walls anyway, which would result in walls being done faster if you just moved up to TH9 instead of letting half of your two available resources capable of upgrading walls go into thin air?
Sounds like you're some kind of masochist, as I don't understand why you would put yourself through all that pain when the solution is staring you in the face.
And no, you're not a "hardcore farmer," or at least not a very efficient one, b/c then you would have taken the premie approach to progressing your base as illustrated in sharonysm's thread here

EDIT: dahimi with his always consistent words of wisdom, and concise as well.
No, you only need your farming troops maxed at TH8 before you head up. How is having your golem and hogs and valks maxed going to help your transition to farming as a TH9 when you're never going to use them to farm as a TH9?
Archers, Barbs, Giants, Wallers. Get em to 5, move up. When you're at TH9, get your GiBarch to L6. Now you're set with TH9 farming troops.
I posted this in another thread without looking in this section. However im facing the same problem atm and it seems abit silly. Pretty bad balancing if you ask me.

People always complain that changing where/when resources can be spent in the game will ruin the economy by removing the resources from being able to be farmed from attacks yet most people hide behind 12hr shields etc just by leaving their Th undefended. If it is important to the game to have resources able to be gained by attacking then the whole issue of shielding needs to be revisited at the same time.
is it better to have weak walls & a big, easy to obtain, shield or to have harder to obtain shields & tougher walls?
If you want people to attack other players so those players can in turn revenge then lower shields & upgraded walls so strategy plays a part in the game is the better option.
If you want players to attack rarely & sit behind easy to obtain shields while they slowly stack resources then keep the shields long & easy get as weaker walls will have little impact so long as players can just leave their Th outside the walls or near the edge of the village to get those shields.
resource management needs to be balanced with how easy it is to get not just from the strength of defences but also from the ability to actually get to the player to attack in the first place.
how does it ruin the game? if it's just because elixir gets spent instead of sitting there waiting to be stolen then read my post above about the abuse of shields having a similar effect i.e preventing elixir from being stolen.
the poster was correct, the game isn't currently balanced whilst players can find loopholes to abuse shielding.
if supercell want active players to accrue resources so that there is an incentive to raid then they need to remove the ease with which long shield times can be obtained &/or enable revenge attacks to bypass the shields so that there is actually a way to raid active players.
if all they want to do is enable active players to hide from other active players behind shields & only inactive players to be farmed easily (since their resources aren't collected & will sit in the, usually, undefended drills, mines etc then they should leave it as it is.
Have you ever heard of these two words:
RULED OUT
It may have been ruled out as a standalone item but that isn't necessarily to say that it shouldn't be reconsidered as part of a rebalancing of other items like shields (for example only as enabling more frequent attacks balances with the more frequent use of elixir, especially at the tiers just below)
