Have you ever wondered if your new base that you have just created will defend attacks better than your previous one? If your new composition of troops will prove worthy in your next attack? Or just plain wanted to understand the mechanics of the game so that you could maximize your potential in attacks and your overall strategy? I have, since my beginning as a clasher, wanted this very thing. I have a proposal: to give all players an opportunity to answer their own questions of the strength of their base, army, and attack strategy.
My Idea:
I present: Hypothetical Village Mode. Imagine it to some degree of the Village Edit mode where you would customize your base, but instead of just editing your base, we add more. I would suggest two more modes in which you could test out your own creations of army and base upon your self. This idea would not be usable within clan war, because it would be easily exploitable: People could try to practice on a war base in a clan war.
1. Hypothetical Attack Mode: Train any troop that you currently have as an option to your army, instantly. Create up to three armies that you can store. (Remember this is all in a fake mode, so you will not actually receive these troops in your real army camps). Then, you have the option to attack your own base, any stored, imaginary bases (see number two), or any in Village Edit Mode. You would also be able to choose "begin training troops". This would automatically send your hypothetical army to your barracks to train. To attack, select a base, then, select "use a saved army". At the bottom of the screen, it will display all the troops that you insta-trained. You can then attack the base. The other option would be to go to choose a base, but then choose "use any troops". So you could press any number of any troop and deploy them until your army camp space is filled. This would be faster than choosing your army first, but would not be saved.
2. Hypothetical Base Mode: Create up to three bases that you can attack with your fake army, put into Village Edit mode, or delete. You would not have to place down all buildings, because, remember, this is also for testing mechanics of troops so having to add all buildings would defeat one purpose of simplifying, to test single series that players have (simplified bases for testing one thing at a time. e.g. only walls base).
If the concept of a Hypothetical Mode is confusing, think of it as creative mode in Minecraft where you are able to control most aspects of the game.
More Ideas:
1. Maybe a Copy Base button to copy a base layout to hypothetical mode to practice on? However, the button would only be available to use when visiting a players village. That way you can not copy a base that you are attacking, a base in the enemy side in clan wars, or any single player campaign base layouts. This could be so that players could check the durability of each other's war and default bases within clans. Also, when creating a hypothetical base, if your clan is currently in a clan war, you can not create a base that has more than 5-15 building similarities(what's a good number?). This would prevent player from practicing on clan war bases. This could be done via a filter or a block maybe. It would display a window saying: Base is too similar to one in clan war.
2. Maybe a button to share replays of these hypothetical attacks with clan?
3. Within the Hypothetical Attack and Base Mode, the clan castle could also be used. You could fill it with any troops of any level for attacking with and defending with or both at the same time. This would simulate the many different troops you might receive from clan members.
4. Controversial: Players able to experiment with buildings past their own level? It makes more sense that you could only use your own buildings, but it would be more interesting if you could use buildings that you don't have.
5. Spells would also be used in hypothetical attacks.
FAQs:
What do you mean by testing mechanics? Consider a wall breaker. There are many walls in a base, therefore creating the many paths that the troop could take. Let's say your target wall is a specific one that you perceive as a "kink in the armor". Where must you place the wall breaker, in order for it to break that specific wall? Consider the concept of funneling(arranging your base to guide enemy troops). How must you arrange your base to ensure the path of enemy troops to your traps? These would be only a couple of the many theories that players could test within the new mode.
Conclusion:
So what do you think? Does this sound like something that would help you? Did I miss anything? Any changes you would suggest?
Please, post your thoughts and questions below so I can make this more descriptive/less confusing?
Alternative or Add on to the Mode?
Another interesting concept that was pointed out to me was this: What if instead of using only what you have to make a hypothetical base/ army, you could have the option to use troops, buildings, levels, heros, etc. that you do not currently possess. e.g. you could create a base that was town hall 8 even if you only have town hall 5. Is this a good idea, or is it too far?
