Yeah! I know how you feel, I try to be a non addicted person and only buy one extra builder but man I really needed another (4th) builder , who knew that the builders price doubles every time you buy one? Ugh
I like to use gems as a kind of insurance against losing all my stuff in an attack, so if I'm close to say 50,000 to upgrade my research lab and I only have 44,000 in elixer then I'll spend a few gems to get it done, if I got attacked and lost that elixer I'd be in worse shape.
If I have a 6,000 elixer deficit, I'll just attack someone or wait an hour. With that said I've spent $40. The first $20 was for builders 3 and 4. The second $20 was for builder 5. I pumped most of the extra gems into my level 7->level 8 TH upgrade.Quote:

Lol, if anyone has spent over $2000 then it is hard to criticize Supercell's pricing. If people will pay, then it is not too high, despite the pain it causes us cheapskates.

Getting a fully maxxed out town hall level 8 base from scratch would be over $2,000 if you are doing it with gems alone - the walls are what really kills you, $500k per skull wall pretty much means anyone who wasn't around when it was possible to just keep farming the single player game has spent a LOT of money.
however......
I used to be a very serious player in another iPhone game called Racing Live and I know there was a group of 200+ people who has dumped $10,000+ (the highest I knew for certain was $18k) into each account. I'll say for a fact I didn't put more than $150 into the game over 2 years. In the end the glitchers killed it and it stopped being fair so I left.
These social mobile games are VERY addictive and a certain category of players have serious habits. Me i've got kids and overheads so consequently not that much spare cash but I can relate to them.
Zynga offers it's most addicted biggest paying players bulk deals on $150 and up in game currency
Moral of the story.....don't be drawn into paying if you are the type of person with an addictive personality

I pay this game by my time ... when I said my time, I mean ... A LOT of Time !!!
Almost 12 hours a day. I take a rest after being attacked and get shield for 12 hours.
