i leave it in my CC for as long as possible. my CC is centrally located in my base and is probably the best protected building on my base besides the DE storage. my loot is safer there than in my storages so i leave in CC until i need the loot for an upgrade. plus this way i can max my storages and still have an added reserve in the CC.
My CC is in the dead center of my map (fwrming with TH out) and storages are actually out one layer. So, for me, its safer in the CC.
If I'm way past cap or I need it for an upgrade, I'll collect it. Otherwise, I'll leave it in there.
Also, I'm a new TH10 too! Congrats!
I leave it until i need to use it or about to win more loot and need the space.
I think the loot in the CC is limited to 10% if destroyed. Storages lose 20% to a cap, depending on what TH is raiding. If my storages are fuller than the cap; i.e. I can lose 200k each max so if I have over 1MM in the storages.... I can't lose any more, I'll collect immediately from the CC. If I have less than the cap, I'll leave it in the cc.
I used to leave it in but my CC is next to my DE storage in the centre and I found I was gradually leaking resources from my CC when people zapped my DE. As i always have my TH out the only resources I ever lose are from DE zapping so figured war loot was safer in my storages.
bubz has the right of it with one minor clarification, the CC loss % varies by TH (stole this from the wiki):Quote:

so it is pretty simple: if you already hit the loot cap for your TH then collect because otherwise you are making more loot available to steal.
I keep it in the CC. I am a TH10 and the defense upgrades are 6.5-8 mil so once I start one of those upgrades, I collect the CC loot.
The percentage that can be stolen from your storages (other than DE storage) is 2x the percentage that can be stolen from your CC (e.g. at TH9, 12% can be stolen from your gold and elixir storages, 6% from your CC, 5% from DE storage).
There is a cap on what can be stolen from your storages. For example, at TH9, 350k is the most that can be stolen from your gold and elixir storages (if they are holding at least 2,917,000), and 2,500 from your DE storage (if it is holding at least 50,000).
If your storages are moderately full, you're best off emptying your clan castle. If your storages are empty, or completely full, you're best off keeping loot in your clan castle. And, if your clan castle is mostly full, you want to make sure you empty it before the next load of war loot shows up, or you'll lose any overflow.
1. DE amount available is greater in the CC and I value that more then gold/elixir.
2. Spoils of war achievement only count's what you collect from the CC. So if it get's looted that's less gold going towards the achievement.
3. Most of the time i'm above the loot cap for my TH level.( ****loot will not be collected if your storage's are full. This happen's to me all the time with elixir. All gold and DE is collected but since elixir is max it stay's in the CC)
When I don't collect
1. Near the end of my current TH, so I try to have it full when I go to the next level.
2. when I have less then 2 million of each loot.
