With that said, the following actually does belong on a top 10 list, in my opinion. Probably not near the top of a top 10 list, but somewhere on that list:
We can gem a barracks to finish the queued troops, or we can boost it. We can gem missing resources, or we can boost a collector. We can gem a hero awake, or we can boost him/her. We can gem completion of spells, or we can boost the spell factory.
It just makes sense to be able to gem a builder (i.e., an upgrade in progress). You already can. While we're at it, we should be able to boost the lab. Ruled out. And we shouldn't. Saving a month's worth of time for maybe 50 gems is crazy.
To those who say that people will spend fewer gems, I counter this: Who gems troops or spells to completion anyway? For donations, I gem troops... Who gems resources anyway? A fair amount of people, actually... In terms of gems spent versus benefit, it's way more efficient to boost. But people still gem troops and resources. Why? Time. Sure, 4x faster is 4x faster, but if you're cooking dragons or pekkas for a war attack and you only have a few minutes to cook them, you're going to have to gem at least a few of them. Agreed.
I'm sure there are die-hard players who will always be gemming buildings. Maybe it's heros for a war, or whatever.
Well, no one said the builder boost has to totally undercut build times. It doesn't have to be a 4x boost like the barracks. It could be a 2x boost like the collectors. Saving 14 days of build time for maybe 50 gems is crazy. Price it so that it's a more efficient use of gems, but not by a large margin. It takes 1000 gems to gem one week's worth of time. What about two weeks? And if it saves even 500 gems, it's a large margin. I think for long upgrades it's something like 10-15 minutes per gem, maybe more for really long upgrades? My longest upgrade to date was 8 days. Anyway, make a builder boost save you 30 minutes per gem. One- tenth the price? One hour = 20 gems. A 12-hour boost would cost 24 gems, or round it up to 25? Saving 12 hours' worth of time for well under two hours' worth of gem cost? Just an idea, I don't know what price point is viable, but there has to be one.
