Bored while waiting for upgrades? Introducing: DUELS!

Bored while waiting for upgrades? Introducing: DAILY DUELS! Each player can duel one person of their choice per day! Here's how it works:

- Challenge someone, they have two minutes to accept. If they decline, you can try another person.
- After accepting a challenge, you can pick an army out. The army is based on the troops, troop levels, and camp capacity of what you currently own. It takes no time/loot to make them, and you have two minutes to decide on an army.
- Then each of you raid each others base! It will look like a normal raid.
- After both parties complete, you can watch/share duel replays in your clan just like any other attack.
- Create a new chat tab called "Duel" meant for hardcore duelers searching for opponents.
- If someone already made their daily duel, let them challenge/accept another for 20 gems!
- Add duel wins as another achievement!
- Daily Duels cost no money! Lets find out who the real Clash bosses are!

To address some concerns that may pop up: When someone is challenged, it will pop up showing their base and counting down. Since you have two minutes to accept, you also have two minutes to study their base.

You can only be challenged once every five minutes to prevent spam. You can only challenge the same person once per day, regardless of whether you bought more duels with gems. You may decline a challenge, study their base, then challenge them back if you feel at a disadvantage. If you aren't in a Dueling chat, then you can't be challenged.


I would like to add one more aspect: Make a Top Duelers List!
- It will be set up like the trophies list.
- Those with the most duel wins will be on the top of the chart.
- Normally to find people to duel, you will have to go to the "Duel" chat--but there's an exception! Allow the top 100 duelers on the list to challenge each other, and those replays can be posted in the "Duel" chat room.
- Players will be notified if it is a top dueler challenging them.
- Replays in the "Duel" chat will not be posted without the consent of both duelers. After their raid is over the players will immediately be prompted whether or not they want it shared. Only after answering that will they be able to see if they won or not and watch their opponents replay.
- Regardless of whether the replay is posted, any duel between the two 100 duelers will be noted in the chat saying "PLAYER X IS NOW DUELING WITH PLAYER Y."
- Like Global chat, there will be many Dueling chats, and the notifications will show in all of them. (Did someone say insta famous?)
- If both duelers make three stars, then the person that took less time will be considered the winner.


Since top 100 players don't have the benefit of looking at each others base while in the chat, The DEFENDER will be able to click on the challengers base to see how far-reaching the defenses are, much like you can in war. (The challenger cant do this because they most likely had time to study the base already. Their screen will have a waiting countdown.) If someone feels that it is not enough time to study that particular base, they can simply decline or let the time run out. They can always study the base longer and then challenge the guy right back.

EDIT: CLARIFICATION:
YOU CAN ONLY CHALLENGE SOMEONE IF YOU ARE IN THE "DUEL" CHAT. YOU CAN NOT CHALLENGE SOMEONE IN YOUR CLAN.

What are the rewards for dueling?

It will count toward your DAILY DUEL achievement. You are rewarded with bragging rights ;) A small sum of loot could be an idea, but I think that this aspect of the game would be mostly to occupy the bored higher level townhalls. If Supercell felt that a different reward should be used then that's cool too.

I see but if you can duel clan mates u could copy an enemy base design in the war and get a free attack

Hi again! I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but my idea would be completely separate from clan wars. Clan wars would proceed as normal.

A Daily Duel is not meant to give money. Its to silence those big talkers with your battle skills or to prove that you have an awesome base. It is to see who is the best strategist! Honestly I think that it will be incentive enough since so many people, especially the big guys, want to prove that they're the best. Dueling within the clan will not count toward a Daily Duel, thus hindering people from working the system.


Opting in for a Dueling Clan is a different story, and it's just an idea. I haven't decided how that will work yet. Feel free to share your ideas :)

I can't let the idea go quite yet because the potential for Supercell to make money is there, and a once-per day limit prevents targeting/bullying. This will also be a draw to those inactive players that have resigned from the game! I hope they will reconsider (:

I know that there are a lot of little rules and regulations here, but with big change, comes big change. Those are your words of wisdom for the day.

Bored while waiting for upgrades? Buy gems and speed them up. At least that's what SC wants you to do which is why upgrades have timers in the first place.

SC is not in the business of adding features to the game that compete with how they make their money.

As previously stated, supercell will make money off duelers that want to duel more than their one free DAILY DUEL. Perhaps my title could be more clear: Bored Waiting For Upgrades But Still Want A Reason To Be On?

This update would bring people into the game even more. It would build a sense of competition, and a sense of community ("Hey catch that duel today?") I'd expect this to big an especially big draw to higher level townhalls that still want to play the game but need more incentive to do so.

I read the 20 gem fee, but the question is would people do this in addition to the things they already do or instead of them? It doesn't benefit SC much if people stop spending gems on other things and spend them on this. You're also proposing a major change with a whole subsystem around it. Such a thing is potentially a huge investment for them to make.

I didn't read it all but I support some kind of individual wars, also called duels. :cool:

If you have a weak base then you will be crushed in a "duel," so people will want to keep working on them. Because it may draw COC inactives out of their seclusion it would add more people to the game, increasing profits. People will play the game even more because there will always be something to do. Wars are fun but once you made your raids its kind of boring, and then you have a whole day of Prep. Raids are good, but can become monotonous. I think that this would be the perfect thing to fill in your time between those things.

This idea can easily be exploited for clan wars. If you ask one of your clan mates to change their base to an enemy in a clan war, you could easily attack your clan mate and test to see if you would star him or not. Boom.

Random Additional Idea That Could Be Added (someone else could develop and expand on it): Consider allowing dueling amongst clan members. The leader will have to opt-in to this feature making it a "dueling-clan." If the leader doesn't want this feature, clan members will not be allowed to fight each other. If a clan is in the dueling mode, clan wars will be inactivated.

There are too many ways to get around this.

For one, chat hopping, leave the clan, blah blah blah, circumvent the clanmate rule.
And another, chat hopping with alts. You could literally just farm wins off of alts.

Too many things being changed here, too many mistakes. I'm completely opposed against this idea. And last off, I wholeheartedly agree with dahimi.

I would like this idea if it was only with random people. Like others have said, if you could choose who to duel it would be too exploitable. But add a queue system of sorts like wars but with 1v1 and I think this could be a really good idea.

Yes you are right about that. The part you are referring to was mentioned on the bottom, but it was only a random idea. I seem to be confusing people with that part so I will just delete it.

Sorry for confusing people! You can ONLY challenge or accept a duel while you are in the "Duel" chatroom!
