Actually, alts boost the main. That's how it is up in the high trophy ranges, and that's how it will be if this idea gets put in.

I think the clan pot shouldn't be for resources. It should be for troops. Resources would be nice, but it's not realistic to think the game developers would let gold and elixir, which are monetized, to be traded freely. But if the clan pot were for troops it would help international clans where people are in different time zones to contribute to each other.
I can see your point if you clan has high volume inflow/outflow of members and definitely makes sense, I doubt the longer lasting clans will have the same problem 'and if they do it would be immaterial'.
Doesn't your second point prove mine? Having access to large volume resources allows you to wall/upgrade quicker, hence decrease the possibility of purchasing gems for resources?
I think the same applies to increased builder speed.

Obviously the point of sharing resources is to make it easier for any account to upgrade, I am simply stating that:
- It will enable any base to upgrade faster and decrease the amount of spent resources
- SuperCell will lose revenue due to people not geming for resources
Have you considered the positives? There is always going to be people dropping out of the game so if these bases have higher level collectors everyone benefits. A benefit also arises for everyone if there are more bases out there with a higher level collectors/more resources available.
