There is no single best attack strategy
The key to success is to review the base you are attacking and pick the appropriate strategy to that base
Depends on the base.
As TH8 I'm at the moment attacking with Drags (lewel 3) with some archers or GOWIPE (Pekka 2, Golem 1, Wiz 5, WB 4).
Generally 3/2 stars with Drags, dipends on AD level, and 2 stars with Pekka
Dragons.
They can be annoying when not properly steered but I'd use them over weak GoWiWi/loonion
Hogs for TH8
i always do Gowipe as it gets me mostly two stars and 3 stars sometime.
90% of th8 bases can be taken out with drags so Ive always felt that its the most important to learn and be comfortable with. This isn't just mass drags though, its many different dragon attacks like mass drag, 105 dragoon, 813 dragoon, hodrag(dragon snipe). other than that u just gotta see if the base in question is exploitable with other comps like wide open bases are good for gowipe, tightly packed can be hogged, accessible ads can be looned, etc.
Dragons or GoWiPe are pretty good for you!
Exactly what Kirky said. Once you learn timing on all these attack strats with drags, 3 stars are very doable.
I see gowipe get two as often as a good drag attack get three.
More important than the army comp is your understanding of the attack and your ability to predict the pathing of the army. Some bases are designed to defend against a certain type of attack and no matter how well you deploy troops if you use the attack the base is built to defend against you'll likely come up short. You need to be flexible and be able to use at least two types of attacks with equal proficiency.
I see so many people just drop their troops (seemingly at random) and hope for the best. New Th7s are the worst about this. They drop a pile of dragons and rage them, then cry about how dumb dragons are for getting shot down by air defense.
Entirely dependent on the base.
Dragons work for non-maxed AD, hogs work for well.. easy hog bases, GoWiPe only works for triples if you have experience.
I'm a dragon guy, but I'm practicing other strategies to expand my possibilities of attacking. Find what works best for you among tons of strategies, there is no single-handed best strategy.
they are all good to learn.
A good "dragon driver" can (when he moves on to th9) two star th9s (so a low th9 two stars a maxed 9 letting a maxed 9 three star a lower or mid 9)
Dragoons can work well especially against poorly designed bases with lvl 6 ADs
Hogs are important to learn as well
GoWiPe is usually good for two stars...but learn it early so you get used to it at th9
loonion...i wouldn't reccomend it at th8 for war but you should definetly farm with it so you get used to loon pathing
People are forgetting Giant/Wiz (I prefer not to use healers...they take up space and die to easily) you can smash a lot of th8s with this
GoWiVa is insanely good at th8!!! Towards the end of my th8 time thats all I used
2 Golems 10 valks 12 wizards 6 wall breakers then in my CC 2 witches and a barb or 1 valk 4 maxed wizards 1 archer (sometimes Id take 5 maxed hogs if there were some outer Wiz/archer Towers that were Hogable)
