Upgrade to Town Hall 9 or Not

Hello everyone, I am currently late town hall 8 and I was wondering if I should be upgrading my town hall to level 9 or not. The main reason I really wanna do this is to unlock level 9 elixir walls, since my storages are always full and going over feels like a waste.

I don't know if raiding will be hard at town hall 9 or not so I came here to ask advice, (I am a BARCH collector raider)

This is what my defenses are:
-Walls level 7 ( wanna do 8 and 9 at the same time, 8 using gold, 9 using elixir)
-Archer towers maxed
-Wizard towers level 5 (1 away from max)
-cannons maxed
-Air defenses level 5
-storages will be maxed soon

Is ur offence maxed?? If not do some drag raids to grab more d.e and continue with ur regular barch.

Nope, upgrade ur AD's and WT's first before going to th9.

How are your troop upgrades?

U should at least have the elixir troops maxed out.

Also u should get at least like 50 lvl 8 walls before going to th 9, u still have a long way to go.:rolleyes:

Upgrade absolutly everthing. that's what i did and its working out perfecftly for me at th9. I know you dont really want to hear this, but i would upgrade everything, down to the last freaking bomb and wall. Upgrade your troops as high as you can, but don't worry about de troops, you can max out the drills at th9, making more de than you can imagine

Upgrade all your defenses and at least 3/4 of your walls to skulls before upgrading your Town Hall!

If you are a barch raider you should absolutely NOT upgrade to TH9 without maxing everything. With low walls (and I speak from experience here) and low defenses (I had all of mine maxed) you will get eaten alive by TH10s once you move to TH9. At the same time your loot will vanish because all of those sweet juicy TH7s you have been hitting go away. You will only get 50% of the loot off of them.

So to recap, when you upgrade - you will get hit for all of your loot and you wont be able to raid nearly as effectively until you get level 6 barch... But since you can't hold the storage since you are getting raided all the time you wont ever get there - I am postulating a worst case scenario but believe me it can happen.

Finally, your idea to use gold on skulls and elixir on legos just wont work. At least not in the near term. There are too many upgrades in TH9 to spend your loot on other than walls. Get as many skulls as you can before hitting the button.

Of course, on second thought, nevermind. You should upgrade. I need another target. A nice premie TH9 with low ADs makes a great loonian raid. :D

If you're army camps, Barch, and spells are maxed, you can go. Don't listen to all these people who say you'll get eaten up by th 10's. Just make sure to empty out your storages before you log off. Rushing from 8 to 9 isn't as big of a deal as people think. I'm doing just fine at 9. Have both Xbows going to 3 as we speak. I had 60 skulls when I got here, now I have full skulls plus 60 Legos. The key to farming at th9, (and you can be successful with level 5 barch), is to farm for that full 2-3 hours and when you log off, empty those storages. If you can't empty them, ride out the shield. Don't drop shields after every raid, or you'll always lose gold/elixir. You can do this especially since you aren't worried about Clan wars. Just make sure to farm at around 1600-ish.

I raided just fine at th9 with level 5 barch, If you are an ok raider you'll do fine. I am definitely not the best raider. The loot penalty is there, but it isnt as bad as the above poster makes it seem.

No it's really not..lol ...Maxing is bad advice, generally given by people too scared to try. (Someone else told them they had to max, or they would never make it...lol...)

It actually is worth it in the long run. It is a lot easier to max the walls at th8 because the loot is better. You can't really raid th7's anymore because of the penalties, and th10's will be able to pick on you once you get to th9. In the end, do what you want. It seems to make more sense to stay and max out your walls now, but that's just me

wrong, why do you want to raid TH7 when you can raid TH10s? More collector, higher level collector = more loot. Getting raided and lose resource is a none issue. Also, why do you care what TH level raids you? Does it bother you that a TH10 took all your loot instead of a TH9? Because TH9 takes all your loot at TH8 instead of a TH10. Only reason to max is because you want to, otherwise rushing to TH10 is the most efficient way to farm. See those threads linked earlier.

I had zero problems upgrading to skulls as a th9, (190 to lvl 8 in about 2 weeks). But that's just me :) Don't really worry about Th7's, because I farm 8's and 9's. Don't really worry about 10 farming me because I dump resources into walls before I log. I do agree with you on one thing, in the end do what you want... I just wish I could share my opinion without people jumping all over me for not saying the same old thing as them :(

mortars maxed? Id make sure your wiz towers are maxed too

Even if you do upgrade to th9, you still have to upgrade your walls to lvl 8 before you can even begin using elixer for walls. So it doesn't really matter whether you max them now or later, you won't be able to use elixer to upgrade them anyway. Plus, you won't be using elixer for your walls right away at th9 anyway. To much stuff to upgrade (lab, spell factory, de drills, troops, and the list goes on) so honestly,you do you. But upgrading to th9 will just make loot penalties worse and allow higher lvl th's with higher lvl and better troops pick on you.

Ps, don't get me wrong, loot at th9 is amazing, but that because I maxed everything out completly and I couldn't be happier with that decision

Then move up. I moved up no problem. People will tell you to quit because loot is worse, but I've seen a dramatic rise in DE while little to no drop in gold/lix. I have almost th7 defenses with th8 splash, and I've only lost 1mil loot the last 9 days(and 200k rearm), while raking in 3-5mil per day. As long as you have barch and giants done, its all ok.

Actually, most of my loot in th9 are from th8 who are trying to max but have 270k elixir and 2k de available, but nowhere to spend it on. Maxing does not make it easier actually, because if u maxed you will only have 3mil+ upgrades left. But if you rushed, u can easily have many 800k-2mil upgrades to do when you don't have time to farm. If I had maxed, I might have trouble doing walls alongside other upgrades

upgrade to TH9 as soon as your farming troops are maxed. I too rushed to th9 and had no problems with loot. Even for this past month where I only rely on my collectors and mines I still manage to upgrade troops and defenses. Placing your TH in a corner almost always gives you a free shield with just 1k loss on both elix and gold. ;)

I would recommend getting Lavloonion asap for wars. It's cheaper/faster to upgrade compared to Gowipe/GoWiWi/etc..And it's alot easier 3 star comp. You'll have a challenge with level 5 Barch(at Th9), but even with level 5 it's do-able. Concentrate on the camps, spell factory, and (my biggest recommendation), keep the AQ asleep until she hits level 10. Good luck, and with a little work you'll do fine :)

Defense wise, get all new stuff built to level 1 right away, then concentrate on offense after that. After you get offense upgraded, take Xbow's to 2, new defenses to th8 max. It's pretty easy to get a ton of walls done, while you are concentrating on offense. This is my recommendation, but their is more than one way to skin a cat, and you'll be fine as long as your willing to work at it.

An upgrading AQ is sleeping, so referring to AQ asleep means you're upgrading her. I just got mine to lvl10 recently, and I can tell you she's a beast and worth rushing for. I just put mine back to sleep after using her for a day though, not after I had smashed 20 TH8 maxers though ;) I stopped at 60% mostly after taking all the loot, so that she does not die

The game gets easier at th9. Its harder to raid you. No th8 can touch you. Th10s wont wreck you unless you are in 2200+ trophies, and even then, leaving the th outside gets a free shield quickly, at that level.

Queen makes it so much better to destroy the poor maxing th8s. 220 camps, more spells, lvl 6 troops, cbows, more defenses and more walls. since i came into th9 the game feels so much easier. I have only been raided for 100% once, in 3 months. Because i was silly enough to have 5 builders busy and filled storages. A revenge took me down.

I always dump elixir and gold on lvl 9 walls and DE on heroes or de troops. Whoever told you to max doesnt want you to progress as efficently as possible, especially if you are an active player. I get more loot now since i can hit maxed th8s, th9s and some juicy th10s.

Lol. You leave the reservatories to max lastly, no wonder you are always full.

Upgade it already, I have Wizz T level 1 and 2 and I'm already planning to go to TH9 after I maxed all the elixir buildings.

Gold for walls, elixir for buildings into you go for TH9, then you can switch the order for elixir to walls and gold to buidings.
