TH8 GOWIPE vs Dragons for War Attack...

So like all of you for war I use 10 Dragons l3 and 3 Rage l4 for war....

Was wondering if GoWiPe could be more powerful than Mass Drag or am I just wasting my time?

Im sure lvl1 Pekkas and Golems dobt stand a chance, but what about if you maxed everything for th8 so.....

L5 Wiz
L5 WB
L3 Pekkas

Would that army have potential to surpass Dragons?

What if they arent totally maxed, lets say you have l2 pekkas and l1 Golems, would that still be allright or is there a big power diff when they all are maxed?

Just looking to see if there are alternative war attacks rather than just Dragons all the time.

Heard a Hog Rider army is way more powerful if you know how to use them right, those need to be maxed at lvl4 to really be good though, Hog upgrades are def necessary. Was wondering if same was with Pekkas and Golems.

Can TH8 pull off an effective GoWiPe in war? Or just stick to mass Dragons?

I'd say, it still depends on the lay out of the opposing players

but Dragons is generally better than GoWiPe at th8, as long as someone can donate you balloons6


you could use GoWiPe for practice, when you go to higher TH levels

but with the state of the game now.... air attacks are just too overwhelming, compared to ground atks

I have lvl 3 pekkas lvl5 wiz and wall breakers and lvl1 golums and i use 2 lvl 4 heal and 1 maxed rage spell and i average 4 stars a war for the most part ive manage to three star some th9 that are a not maxed out. But i hate dragon attacks they are so boring and a waste of elixer especially at lvl 3. But thats just me.

You try : 8 Dragon + 1 gaint (zan clan) + 35 arc :)

Yes Dragon attacks are both boring, and expensive.

Using 10x l3 Drags + 3x l4 Rage Spells = 450k Elixir per attack.

So 900k for both attacks, and since I give a Dragon to anyone that asks, as long as they use it for their war attack, not farming.

So just as an example this war I gave around 10 Dragons, so another 360k...

So with donations I spent over 1.25mil elixir, so it really annoys me when people use barch or smth cheap...

I constantly get 6 stars, atleast 80+% of wars I get 6. Its not like Im going against easy bases either, I atk above my recommended, 1/2 wars the 'most heroic attack' is mine.

The TH8s I attack can be pretty maxed, I havent tried lately but I stay away from bases with all 3 Air Defences are maxed lvl6.

If the combined lvls of all 3 ADs are over 15 then I usually stay away from it, the highest I would feel comfortable with is 1 lvl6 and 2 lvl5 ADs, but if they have maxed lvl6 wizard towers then forget it.

I usually atk bases w 3 lvl5 ADs, usually Teslas over lvl3 are rare, but if I happened to run into 3 maxed lvl6 Teslas I would be pretty concerned.

At this level they know what they are doing, usually the ADs are very centered in a triangle, if there is a base with an AD close to the edge or something I usually let another clan member attack, usually someone w lvl2 Drags and less experience.

I guess Ill stick w Drags for now, I have been getting pretty good at using them for war attacks.

Too bad i cant copy a replay from the war thats currently going on now, to show you how I use my Dragon Army....


For you guys that do the same what do you keep in your CC?

I usually take 1 Drag lvl2-3, 1 Balloon lvl5-6.

But I have heard good things about 5x Loons, esp maxed lvl6 Loons.... Im going to try next war to see of that works better.....

Do the Balloons have to be maxed lvl6? Or is lvl5 Balloons good enough?

So ill try lvl5 if I cant get lvl6, but I know between 5 and 6 there is a big hp and damage increase....

So would you guys rather take 5x lvl5 loons or if they arent maxed l6 then just opt for the Dragon?

At TH9 Im curious if 1x Lava Hound in CC would help? I wonder if they would help or if the drags even need the Hound to tank?

TH8s are usually not prepared for GoWiPe attacks, that is why they are very successful if you know how to pull them off. One thing i regret was that I never used GoWiPe during my TH8 phase because now im using it at TH9 and loving it.

I use gowipe all the time. Its usually a 2-3 stars depending on the layout. I wish I had some replays I could show you.

So for TH8 GoWiPe to be succuessful do you need lvl2 Golems and lvl3 Pekkas?

I assume lvl5 Wiz and WBs are a must....

Im getting Golems in 4 days and recently unlocked my Pekkas aswell, they are still lvl1.

My WBs are lvl5 but Wiz are still lvl4, going to upgrade them next so they will be lvl5 in 7 days....

How effective is gowipe with l5 wiz and wbs but just lvl1 pekkas and golem?

Also to make this army stronger, and just overall which between Pekkas and Golems is more important to upgrade, which would u upgrade first?

Im guessing my Pekkas will be lvl2 or 3 before I even start my Golems, 60k DE is alot!! Want to get minions and hogs to lvl4, and king to lvl10 before I think about lvl2 Golems.

Do you think lvl2 Golems should be higher priority?

It entirely depends on the base, in general drags will do better (TH8 vs TH8), but against a strong base you may end up needing to GoWiPe.

As far as troop lvls go, your troop lvls for GoWiPe look fine, so if there's a base that looks difficult to drag you should be able to use GoWiPe just fine.

I am an early TH9 and use GoWiPe in every war.

Pekka's are a better upgrade than golems! Pekkas get an additional 75 damage per strike which is often the difference between two strikes to destroy a structure or one-shotting it (especially if a wizard gets a hit in as well). This improves an attack quite a bit! Pekkas also gain 300-400 health in the earlier upgrades.

Golems, on the other hand, gain 500 hp with each upgrade (not much more than the pekka) and gain almost negligible attack increases (~10 damage per attack). Their DPS should be almost completely ignored because golems are meant to be tanks and should not be relied on to destroy ANYTHING.

In short, Pekkas get decent health and damage upgrades where golems only get decent health upgrades.

Maybe the upgraded damage upon death and golemite upgrades is enough to make golem upgrades better than pekkas? Let me know what you think.

I have issues 3 staring maxed TH8s with GoWiPe, i can never keep enough wizards alive. But if it is an open base i usually have no issues. Drags work for me as long as ADs are not above lvl 5, otherwise Hogs and a few wizards are nice at TH8. TH8 has been tough for me on wars, TH6 & 7 i had no issues 3 starring my equal. I am the highest TH8 in my clan which makes me always go for the higher TH8s, even some of the TH9s have issues with who i attack.

With Lvl 3 dragons, you can 3 Star a completely maxed TH8 base in war, including lvl 6 AD. I consistently 6 star attack top 2 TH8 enemy base in war. The key is placement of you dragons to properly funnel them, and timing the rage drops to carry the dragons quickly into the AD. The last spell, I usually use 1 heal and backside the 3rd AD with Lvl 5 hogs.
