So I won't have a builder available for 3 more days so I figured I would shoot for something that costs a lot because I have a lot of time to get that gold. Level 2 xbows and level wizard towers cost about the same (5mil for bows, 5360000 I think for WT) so I want to get one of those. What should I shoot for?
Definitely wiz tower. Its splash damage and can one shot level 7 archers so your protected against that. Second, xbows in my opinion arent even that good. They're overrated and everyone they're so good but they really don't do a lot. I maxxed myy xbows early in th 9 and it was definitely not worth it. They're terrible at levels 1 and 2 and ok at level 3. But definitely wiz tower over xbow.

Also, you have only two xbwos, and you have four WTs, it is better to max them all in a small period of time. With Xbows, since you should do only one at a time, that time period is pretty high. WTs can be famred and built two at a time, so you will have all four in two- two and half weeks.
Always the xBows.

Xbows are more crowd control, same as wizard towers. Wizard towers do splash and deal a lot. However, this is only at short range. Xbows have a big range which helps a lot, and many balloonion users are scared of pointy uppy xbows. Get them to Level 3 and they are unstoppable. Wizard towers destroy barchers, and trust me, there are a lot of those. Motars seem a good choice also, as they have long range, big splash and a lot of damage. The only downside to wizard towers is their range, but once a group of troops get close, get ready to wave bye bye! Xbows dont take down barch that well until high level, but even then wizard towers do better. Xbows can also shoot air troops, dealing that Extra damage needed.

I maxed xbow first, mostly because i couldnt care less about defend. I just want to get rid of its upgrade asap coz its the longest and most expensive upgrade. I agree xbow isnt all that great, but couple with full lego make my base look more intimidating.
My th9 upgrade plan is to do xbow>wizard tower>tesla>air def>archer tower>mortar/cannon.
For times of farming, I would recommend Wizard towers and Mortars, because the splash damage, like what other players mentioned, are very useful for taking out BARCH. And given how purple WTs can one-hit Lvl 6 archers, it's quite a powerful asset during a potential defense.
X-bows serve as your long range sniper, and I would say, is more important during Clan Wars, where once they lock on to the enemy heroes, they can take them down quite quickly - and even faster at Lvl 3. Their high amount of hit-points may also make a difference in certain situations.
My own priority of upgrade: Teslas to Lvl 7 -> all 4 Wizard Towers to Lvl 7 -> all 4 Mortars to Lvl 7 -> Now doing X-bows to Lvl 2. Plan is to continue upgrading to Lvl 3 X-bows immediately upon reaching Lvl 2.
To each his own man...
L1 xbow- nothing special(cannons and arch tows still are better)
L2 xbow- reasonable, but still nothing too important(cannons and arch tows still are better)
L3 xbow- makes all th9 attackers to think at least twice
L6 wizard tower- useful, but barch is two shot kill
L7 wizard tower- huge power boost one shot kill L1-L6 archers, most goblins(good for farm bases)
I'd go for wiz tow, because its more help with all tier 1 and tier two troops
Thanks for saying what works better for CW or farming. Now I'm thinking of upgrading xbow first because I'm trying to become a CW powerhouse for my clan, and I get attacked by such small amount of barchers that I don't need to worry about that too much. Geez maybe I should flip a coin.Quote:

Several good points. here is my take...I typically do the higher cost items first, to get them out of the way.
I dont get all the hatoraid X-Bows get, IMO they are pretty Pimp. Their shot speed gets played down a lot on the forums. Yes, Wiz n the Splash is very good in terms of defense against Tier1 farming troops. But the 7 tile range is what limits them IMO. It is true that L3 is very good and L1-2 are not as good, the caveat is, you gotta get them to L2 first (10 d, 5mil ea) in order to get them to L3 (14d 7mil:Ouch!)
but once you do, they are worth their price tag. If you have Skull walls or better, and L3 X-Bows and L6 Wiz tower, peeps will skip you with T1 troops in tow (unless they have a bunch of spells they want to burn tryimg your defenses n layout.
If your A/Def is up to snuff, then you can leave them on Ground mode where i think they shine, they cover TWICE the range of Wiz towers, and with the super fast rate of shots, they clear out T1 troops in short order. This allows for twice the time to shoot down theiving vermin. also, they have Huge HP, so they can take a licking if covered well (Tesla is a good combo for support) when set to Air they cover roughly 1.5 x the range of Wiz tower as well.
if you have the coin to upgrade X-Bow i recommend getting them outta the way, they are versitale support turrets and their range is what makes them very useful.
Finally, in TH9 point defenses start to carry more weight than previous THs. Defending against Giants,Golems and esp Royals, the point defenses are worth upgrading. The one w/the most range and fastest shooting should be a priority IMO
