Laboratory research done before defenses

I'm a TH7 wondering if I should upgrade to TH8 because I have finished all the laboratory research except for minions and hog riders. I never use them and have a hard time getting dark elixir.

The defensive buildings I have remaining are 2 Archer Towers, 1 cannon, and 1 wizard tower. All of my walls are at least level 6 with about 1/3 being level 7. My barracks are maxed out. Elixir collectors and gold mines are level 7 and level 8. My Barbarian King is upgrading to level 4 right now.

Should I continue to work on maxing out my buildings or should I upgrade to TH8? I'll be able to finishes my defenses while waiting. Seems like a waste to stick around without being able to upgrade my troops.

Can I see a pic of your base? Do you have anything else that you could spend elixir on like barracks and etc?

If you honestly have nothing else to spend your elixir on then I'd recommend just upgrading to th8, no point having an idle factory and elixir you have no idea what to do with.

Go TH8.

I always say to upgrade before your defenses are finished if you:

You finish research or
You finish walls or
You finish heroes

Just takes one of those in my opinion. D.E. gets easier to acquire the higher TH you get.

No, keep upgrading your defenses and work on collectors and walls on the side.

EDIT: Never mind, I just noticed that you said you'll be able to finish defenses while you wait for your TH. In that case, go to TH8. But next time, space your upgrades out a little better so you don't run into this problem again.

No... Gotta keep that lab working. TH8 research takes longer than the defenses do so he should upgrade.

go to TH8. there's very little harm in going to TH8 early. you'll be fine. go so your lab doesn't sit idle.

It's almost impossible to finish all elixir lab upgrades and still have that many defs to upgrade. It's like you farm more elixir than gold. How many builders do you have?

Yes you should upgrade to TH8 right now. But you must find out why this happened. Never seen this in 2 years.

Please post a pic of your lab researches and your base. Or give us your clan name and ID. There is something wrong here.

I recommend maxing defenses and at least 3/4 of your walls... when you reach th8, that opens up th9s with lv6 troops to easily squash you. Already be rough enough with maxed th7 defenses and walls, no need to make it harder on yourself. Walls are especially important because later on in your th8 career, youll be kicking yourself because you might be maxed in defenses and troops but only have a handful of lv8 walls, but you really want to go to th9. I speak from experience.

Max those defenses, including walls. Do the DE upgrades at TH8.

I don't know why you are all shocked by this. If he spends anytime on walls whatsoever while researching troops and upgrading defenses then obviously he's going to finish elixir upgrades before defenses. Literally everyone runs into this problem at Town Hall 7, 8 and especially 9. With those lvl 7 walls at town hall 7 costing 200k gold each, this seems almost like the default condition for a near maxed TH 7.
