I am still doing Lavas with just gold cause I am still doing elixir upgrades like drills and de barracks. Walls are very easy to do. Don't complain about this. A lot of us had to upgrade walls with gold before the elixir update. If you want to do walls with elixir so bad then hurry up and gem to level 9 walls or just stop making threads about this.
