How do I accumulate gold?

How do you guys with high-level TH's and defenses accumulate enough gold to do that? I'm trying to get enough gold to get level 7 TH, and it's just one step forward and two steps back. Last night, I attacked several villages, and got some gold and elixir. My TH is outside, and I was waiting for someone to snipe me so I could get an overnight shield, but it didn't happen. Sure enough, this morning I'd been attacked twice, with one doing 100% damage, and I'd lost thousands in gold and elixir. Again, one step forward, two steps back.

Also, in the options to buy shields, what does "cooldown period" mean? Does that mean you can't get a shield during that period, even if you're attacked?

if you buy 1d shield you also get 5 days cool down, it means that you can't buy another shield for 5 days.

The "cooldown" is the time it takes before you can buy another shield.

To get gold, you raid. Usually a person is only attacked once, and the losses are limited, before you get a shield. Raiding in sessions really helps btw. At TH6 you only need barbs and archers, and you should keep nexting til you see a base with full collectors on the outside, or a terribly designed base with full storages. With a little patience you can easily make whatever you need in about 3-4 good raids.

Don't buy a shield at th6. That's crazy.

There is more than enough loot at th7 and below. Just farm using archers, barbs and goblins. Cheap to make and efficient.

You should be able to farm enough loot for any TH7 upgrade within a 1 hour session. As others have said already look for bases with full collectors and use BARCH. Silver 1 or 2 will have plenty of collectors raids for you!

Don't be disheartened by defeat, it happens. Especially at lower town hall levels.

When I was a lower town hall level, I always used to tell myself "the best way to protect my resources is to spend it myself".

As for your town hall upgrade, if you raid 4-5 times for every time you get raided, you should see plenty of profit. The key is timing yourself and planning out when you can fit in time during the day to raid.

When you say an hour of raiding should be enough, are you including the time it takes to man up without using gems to speed up the process? Is it worth it to spend gems to do that. Also, is it worth spending 250 in gold to hit "next" when you're looking for a vulnerable village? Because you can hit "end battle" and go back to the village and start over, but that's an extra step, obviously.

What trophy range are you in? You may be a little too high. For th7s farming in silver 1, or if you're up for it, gold III is probably prime

i just came on once a day and collected until i got to town hall 8 lol

Do not buy a shield with gems.. use those gems to boost and attack continuously until you're close to what you're trying to save up.
