How to make troops go center?

I mean I could have 2 starred this th8 base with his 3ADs. I used mass dragon and lightninged one of them, and everything was not quite fine, and then it turned to worse and I didn't get any war stars (it had already been 1starred). The guy who had attacked this base was as unfortunate as me with his dragons going outside to destroy all the useless buildings. So how do I make them go into the center?? It's very frustrating and annoying.

If you got a king use him to destroy any buildings that are outside and hopefully the dragons will go thru the middle

Yeah I did that, the bloody CC troops foiled him. And this dude had such a huge territory and so I had to delpoy my drags at the farther-most end of the map, and it followed them bloody useless mines collectors and barracks outside.

Did you spam all the drags in one spot? That's a mistake I see made with drags a lot, when i use drags on my mini i spread them in a line across the side im attacking from, that way you will have some that go to the centre and some that clear around the edges, also i find rage and heal the most useful spells, I know lightning will take out an air Defense, but heal spells and then using rage when they go for the cc troops works better in my experience

With any troops even those that target defences it is important to funnel them by destroying distracting buildings first, ie if you want your drags to go inside give them no choice by first destroying all the trash buildings on either side of where you want your main force to go.
With defence targeting troops the same applies, destroy crucial defences on either side first to get them to go deep if that's what is called for.
Learn to understand troop ai.
Then use that knowledge to control your attack.

Yes I admit I always do. But is GoWiPe a better strategy? Im going to th8 in 5 days. I've seen some of my clanmates deploy them in a line, but I doubted the significance of doing so.

I normally deploy 3 dragons on 3 different buildings. Like:

Building------Building------Building------Building------Building
Dragon-----------------------Dragon---------------------Dragon


I wait a while so the dragons would clear about one side of the base.

After that I would deploy all my dragons in the middle of the empty side and they would go for the town hall.

Set 2 drags on the left side set 2 drags on the right side. wait a Little and set the rest in the middle between them.
The outer drags will ork as a guard and the drags in the middle can only go to the Center. That works most of the times when I was a th8 (Long Long time ago)

I personally don't like gowipe, I haven't got the hang of it but will try it again once I get golems to lv4, I prefer gowiwi or dragloon with my th9. On my th7 I use 9 drags 3 wiz and 3 arch (one army camp not maxed) with the wiz and arch used to clear buildings at the start.

Edit- with that army i was able to 2 star a mid th8 as a th7 with lv1 drags, only time stopped it being 3 stars

But this guy had 3 level 6 ADs pummeling at my drags!
