I have a nice idea for a trap against golems.

Hi guys, allow me to make a new thread even though I haven't checked every single thread about traps against golems.

I presume that golems are made of stone from their appearance.
So what if there is a trap which turns them in to a big chunk of rock?

Details
This trap should look like a melting pot.
When a golem steps on it, the trap stops the golem from moving and turns it into a 3x3 rock obstacle.
It should cost tons of gold to set it up and require 3x3 empty space to place.
You can set only one of this trap in your map.
This trap should be triggered only by golems.
It doesn't get triggered by other units or doesn't harm other units.

By making this trap so big in size, it should be able to avoid defense being too overpowered.
If you choose to set this trap in the critical part of your base, that means you are taking risk of other units being deployed right on top of it.
If you choose outer part of your base, the probability of this trap catching golems is lower because your enemy can come from any side.

Golems are very powerful units that cost a lot of your resource&time&space.
Therefore, the trap against them should be equally high risk.
High risk high return is the basis of strategy game.

Hmmmm, this is a really nice idea! Maybe a few lvl 7 teslas around it to take down stranglers..... You wouldnt know if it was a tesla or trap! Nice one:)

I like it. We need a trap designed to take out golems since we have traps for pekkas dragons and basically everything else in the game

hmmm nice idea, but since i don't really use golems i dunno if its fair to golem users.

i imagine users setting this up one by one without removing the stone that formed to make their base harder to attack

how many golems can it take down?

What do you guys think about maximum amount of golems it can get rid of?
Is only one golem would be fair?

I see 3 giants get removed by single spring trap all the time so should it be 3 golems max?(only if they are at the same spot at the same time, of course)

This is a dumb idea. Golems take up 30 space and do ♥♥♥♥ damage, they aren't overpowered. They aren't totally useless either, mind you, but adding a trap that can eat 30 space of troops is just stupid.

Three giants don't cost 600+ dark elixir.

I didn't mean to say golems are overpowered.
I thought it might spice up the defense strategy by adding their weak point just like pekkas get double damage from tesla.
Although it is true that 30 space is a lot to lose, golems are very special type of troop. They keep attacking after defeat. That is why people use them.
In other word, "high risk high return" for attacker's side.
Therefore, I thought there should be some special trap that is very effective but very costly to provide "high risk high return" for defender's side.

Also, well-placed spring traps or giant bombs can cause 30 space loss too. I don't think it is so irrational.

What do you guys think??

True.
So maybe only 1 golem?

A spring trap can get rid of 15 space total.
This means that if you have 4 spring traps placed strategically and effectively, you can get rid of 12 giants which take up 60 space and cost up to 36000 elixir(at level 6).
Also you can get rid of 8 hog riders which take up 48 space and cost up to 400 dark elixir(at level 5).

Maximum of 1 or 2 golem(s) sounds not too bad to me.

Well for lower levels who don't have an inferno tower golems are pretty overpowered. I like the entire concept of this idea, it would be pretty interesting if the trap was unlocked at th8 and costed dark elixir. (You unlock golems at th8)

Exactly! TH8 is very hard to protect against those higher level farming players.

No other high level troop can be taken out in one shot of anything, so why should a golem have to suffer turning into stone as soon as he steps on it?

Giants and spring traps are fine, as most people travel with a fair amount of giants.
