Why do people use the Balloonian Attack strategy?

Why do people use the Balloonian Attack strategy? Isn't there a cheaper and better way to get trophys? I'm a TH8 right now, and do not see why the Balloonian Attack strategy is all that great. Balloons die really fast, gotta use rage spells, cost a good bit (for me atleast), take a long time to train, and the Minions use up precious DE.

For me, I never use DE troops because I never wanna use up my precious DE, except for upgrading my King. The most trophys I have gotten are like 1650 and that was using Barbs/Archers/Wall breakers.

Explain like I am five as to why people use the Balloonian Attack strategy. Maybe also try to convince me to use DE troops. What other good trophy pushing strategies out there?

Loons get massively better at level 6, you likely have level 5. DE gets massively easier to get at TH9, the cost of minions is basically irrelevant. You make a good point about training time, but most heavy armies take longer. If you go for 50%'s you would only need 0-1 rages.

Loons get ~50 percent better at level 6, This makes them usable for farming and pushing.

In terms of DE use, I only use it for wars, pushing with loonion, and upping heroes

I occasionally switch to making Balloonion armies for raids. I can get to the storages of much tougher bases than Barch allows, with better loot often. Since I am TH8 with L5 loons, I pack heals instead of rages. Keeps Loons alive through the wizard towers. I spend about 450 DE per raid, but mainly get it back on average with the raids. You have to be in a trophy range where you will find good targets, or what I usually do is scour my revenge list. Plenty of TH8s and 9s that have good loot that either raided or sniped me. Once I run the revenge list dry of good targets, either back to Barch for awhile, or start nexting a lot.

It's a way to have an army that can be dominant or delicate at your fingertips with under an hour cooking time. Quite a flexible army good for both trophy pushing & dark elixir farming.

I got above 4000 with it, hard to find a cheaper army you can use up there unless you're amazing with barch.

Because balloonion is awesome... and when doing ground based attacks, walls can get annoying while wall breakers are the most inconsistent stupidest troop in the game. In closing, wall breakers suck, balloons and minions fly over walls.

Should you use spells when farming?

A standard loonion army is only 30 or so minions. Loonion is good at getting a minimum of a star. In higher leagues this means you arent losing precious de. Loonion is the cheaper faster option, other than barching 50.

i personally used giviz during my push to 2800. Was during wiz event was beautiful 45 min army 45 min boosted spells.

For the most part no. They cost a lot in elixir and they take long to make. However, under the right circumstances (super high loot bases) spells can and do make a HUGE difference in both helping to get loot and in winning trophies to maintain whatever farming level has been good for you.
